  1. Erm, yeah ... except the third one. What a massive disappointment that was. You don't like 'Salutations From The Ghetto Nation'? You, sir, are dead to me ...
  2. AC/DC: Highway To Hell Judas Priest: Screaming For Vengeance Whitesnake: Slide It In Twisted Sister: Love Is For Suckers
  3. I was going to mention Metal Church. Several good albums, but the debut is the best. I agree with Thunder too (although the new one sounds promising...). Few others than spring to mind: Love/Hate Bang Tango (i.e. Psycho Cafe, if we are only including studio albums - I mean, who releases a live album as a debut?) Infectious Grooves Danger Danger White Sister (if we're including artists with only two albums) and maybe Warrior Soul ... just can't decide which is best out of the debut and the second album... When it comes to Warrior Soul, they're first three albums are all pretty much flawless ...
  4. More charity-shop finds: Pat Benatar: Crimes Of Passion Iron Maiden: Death On The Road Bon Jovi: Bounce Jon Bon Jovi: Destination Anywhere And an early Birthday pressie from my folks: Zyklon: World Ov Worms Zyklon: Aeon God Seed: I Begin Woland: Hyperion
  5. Yeah. I've watched so many terrible movies. Always looking for some hidden gem. You gotta sift through a lot of shit, but the payoff is usually worth it. I can't stand it bro, but let me know the payoff you mentioned, don't tell me those shits okay Well, the first thing you need to watch is the new Mad Max film. Even though it's not a hidden gem. Unbelievably amazing. I did not expect it to be that good, and I had high expectations. I shit you not, this film will be folk's Top 100 Films of All-time lists. I'm not sure if it's playing in Indonesia, yet, but as soon as you're able to watch it -- I'm now addressing anyone reading this -- go and watch it. I'm seeing it again this Friday. Love the first Mad Max film; love the third one (the second one is 'okay') ... no interest whatsoever in this re-boot ...
  6. You left out too ugly. Not to mention 'too ginger'
  7. I like a lot of 'signature songs' ... it would just be refreshing if radio stations played something else by the band concerned! The exception is 'More Than Words' - if I NEVER hear that song again, it'll be too soon ...
  8. Alannah Myles Guns n' Roses Johnny Crash Poison Vain Kings X Slaughter Dream Theater Metal Church Thunder LA Guns Mercyful Fate ... all artists whose debut album is the best thing they've done (for me, at least)
  9. In no particular order ... Judas Priest: Screaming For Vengeance Rainbow: Straight Between The Eyes Diamond Head: Borrowed Time Manowar: Battle Hymns Black Sabbath: Live Evil MSG: Assault Attack Whitesnake: Saints & Sinners Iron Maiden: The Number Of The Beast Scorpions: Blackout Twisted Sister: Under The Blade
  10. Gizmo - Just Like Master Bates (We Did It On Our Own)
  11. Great stuff! And I picked it up for a lot less than I thought I'd have to pay!
  12. Van Halen: Fair Warning Whitesnake: Come An’ Get It Def Leppard: High ‘n’ Dry Black Sabbath: Mob Rules Iron Maiden: Killers Motley Crue: Too Fast For Love Blue Oyster Cult: Fire Of Unknown Origin AC/DC: For Those About To Rock … Rush: Moving Pictures Styx: Paradise Theatre
  13. In no particular order (although the first three probably are ) ... Black Sabbath: Heaven And Hell AC/DC: Back In Black Iron Maiden: Iron Maiden Status Quo: Just Supposin' Whitesnake: Ready An' Willing UFO: No Place To Run The Babys: Union Jacks Ozzy Osbourne: Blizzard Of Ozz Shakin' Street: Shakin' Street The Police: Zenyatta Mondatta
  14. I would've loved to hear a whole Motley album in the vein of 'Primal Scream'! Randy Rhoads would've been sacked somewhere along the line ... I'm sure Shazza would've seen to THAT! If Bon was still with us, at least we'd know the answer to how much of Back in Black was written while he was still alive! Can you imagine Metallica playing some of the tunes that Mustaine came up with in the 80s and early 90s?
  15. What if Don Dokken and George Lynch could bear to be in the same room together? What if John Bonham didn't enjoy his alcohol quite so much? What if Marc Bolan had walked home?
  16. I've been put off a lot of bands, from different genres, because the vocals don't fit with the music. As I said before, that's more important to me than the language being used. I've got albums by French and Spanish bands, Russian bands, Icelandic bands, all manner of Scandanavian bands, German bands, Italian bands ... sometimes it can be a bit frustrating if I'm enjoying a song so much that I'd like to sing along if I could, but that doesn't mean I'd prefer them to be singing in English. Rammstein work so well because a lot of their lyrics play on the pronunciation of certain German words - 'Du Hast', depending on how it's said, can mean 'you have' or 'you hate'.
  17. I understand where you're coming from on this, but I agree with DaHun that a band is more than just the songwriting ... For me, W.A.S.P. stopped being 'W.A.S.P.' once Chris Holmes and Johnny Rod had gone - now it's just a Blackie Lawless solo vehicle. As good as the albums might be, I don't think he should be using the W.A.S.P. name. If Kirk left Metallica, it would be the same thing ... as it is for me now with Slayer, Lombardo is gone and Hanneman is no longer with us - it's not Slayer. Motley Crue don't work without Vince. Love him or hate him, he IS an integral part of the band. Megadeth is a strange one. I would argue that most people would say that 'the band' is the two Daves - although I'd also say that a lot of the 'band' mentality was lost once Nick Menza and Marty Friedman left ... funnily enough, the almost constant changes of drummer and guitarist have never really bothered me. Whitesnake is no longer a band, and hasn't been a band, as such, since the late 80s. Picking up on Jeff's point about the 'sound' of a band, would fans of the band be happy with a Dokken line-up that was Don and three blokes? It would still be his voice, and no doubt the songs would sound the same but, still ...
  18. Rock City Angels: 'Young Man's Blues'. I bought it when it first came out, as a double album (three sides of songs; side four was some sort of remix of 'Beyond Babylon'), and having played it on CD recently, I reckon they could have lost about half a dozen songs and had an absolute killer of an album ... instead of ending up with something that's 'okay' ...
  19. I like the first Little Angels album, but I'd never go as far as to say it's a classic (or even an absolute favourite) - I was VERY disappointed by the second Love/Hate album ... although i kepot hold of it for years before having to admit that I was NEVER going to play it all the way through ever again ...
  20. Yeah, it's not great. And even the second one, which is a really good album, is just massacred by the terrible production job. As I've always said, if they had the debut's production mixed with the 2nd album's songs, you'd have an absolute gem. Even with the production of 'If I had my way' and 'Slip and fall' (produced by Kevin Elson) for the whole album, it would have been brilliant. Good point ... if only they'd tagged 'Walls Come Down' and 'Love Can Make You Blind' onto that second album ...
  21. 'Hard Way Home' is probably the only song of theirs worth having ... I'm with Glen, they're pretty average ...
  22. Skynyrd were another band that came to mind - I just couldn't remember how many original members were left! Black Sabbath are another one (although I like to think that Tony Iommi kept the name alive just to piss Sharon Osbourne off.) It's funny how some bands are accepted as bands, even though they have an almost ever-changing line-up (Whitesnake, Rainbow, Megadeth), so where is the line drawn?
