I'm gonna say that I have many perfect songs.
To a degree, they are the ones I don't think could be covered and are timeless.
Here are some of mine. Most people will know most of them...
Love (I Don't Need It Anymore) - Union
Promise The Moon - Dangerous Toys
All This And Heaven Too - Michael Sweet
Wanna Be The One - Haywire
Poison Apples - Motley Crue
Halfway To Heaven - Europe
Until You Suffer Some (Fire And Ice) - Poison
Believe - Stryper
Take The Dog Off The Chain - Babylon A.D.
Screamin' For More - Dangerous Toys
You Are The One - Hair Of The Dog
Hold On To My Heart - W.A.S.P.
Touch – Bad City
Tales From The Boogieman - Jester
Driftaway - Motley Crue
Can't Stop Lovin' You - Van Halen
Livin' On A Prayer - Bon Jovi
Fallen Angel - Poison
Why Can't This Be Love - Van Halen
Transmission – Dangerous Toys

Dreams - Van Halen
You Give Love A Bad Name - Bon Jovi
The Final Countdown - Europe
Nothin' But A Good Time - Poison
Sweet Child O' Mine - Guns N' Roses

We're Not Gonna Take It - Twisted Sister
Face Down – Hot Action Cop
Call Paul Stanley – Bad City
So Easy – De Mont

Say Goodbye - Krokus -
Well I was referring to band who had already made it and therefore became (more) pretentious.
Until then, they are all doing what they have to do, any means necessary
-
Kiss - The Elder and also that movie they made.
-
No reason that can't be applied here.
So self important that they think they can do whatever they want and it will be right
Axl Rose would be a good example of being pretentious, this fed through to his music and a 10 year journey to make something he thought was amazing and elite, when it was actually pretty shit.
-
I'd never seen this clip before.
Probably my favorite Slash song
Slash released this special video to help raise awareness for the plight of homeless youth in Los Angeles. To download "Gotten" and donate to LAYN, please visit http://slashonline.com/gotten, for more information on Los Angeles Youth Network, please visit http://layn.org/donate.html.

I'd be more inclined to say that all bands make the music they want to make.
Only bands who may be a bit pretentious would be those who try to write a 'hit'
However when they try to do this is usually works, or at least turns out to be an ok song so it's not really a big deal.
-
I had a listen and thought he sounded ok. Much better than he did on the first CD which I mistakenly bought without thinking.
Just the music isn't for me at all. Better than AC/DC though as it has more melody and a tiny bit more hookiness.
-
Just start a new 10 out of 10 thread.
-
Ah cheers Cure, I'll work my way through them and then choose an album of theirs to buy
I'm loving all this new music I'm getting exposed to! Had kind of got stuck into a rut with my listening habits until recently.
Friend at work has leant me a reggae CD which I would have said is not really my thing but I gave it a go today. It started off with a fun cover of Alphaville's Forever Young (by Patrick P). I'm actually loving the poetry of all the lyrics which reminds me to maybe start a thread to see whether people think a great song can be ruined by naff lyrics or whether the music would always be strong enough to override that.
They are what others here might call modern rock, or nu metal or something like that.
Start with Your Disease
Hollywood
Rest In Pieces
No Regrets Vol 2
and then there's probably their most popular song (but not their best - Click Click Boom
If none of those do it for you, move on
-
fuck, looks like I'm 6 albums behind.
I may have done a couple more and not added those songs I liked to my list
I;ll have to have a play tomorrow and see where I'm at
Still, the list above is from only 3 albums, not a bad return from each album (didn't like the first one)
-
I was right in to the first 3 or 4 albums a few years ago.
Pretty sure I have the new album. I'll have to give it a spin. Will be a week or two before I can report back until the songs have been heard enough to get to know. Here's my list of their best songs, which let you know where I got to with them
Superstar
Musta Been Wrong
Click Click Boom
Your Disease
After Me
Lackluster
Hollywood
My Goodbyes
Always
Back Into Your System
Rest In Pieces
Storm
Holdin On
Bait & Switch
One Night Only
Survival Of The Sickest
No Regrets (Vol. 2)
Two Steps Back

I Want You
Razor's Edge

For me Saliva are the kind of band who take a while for their music to seep in.And I generally find it hard to mix their music on a mix with other bands. But they've had some awesome music.
-
Hilarious clip. Awesome pec/boob movement.
Great song - probably their best...

Cold Chisel
Cold Chisel were the epitome of a pub rock band. Jimmy would skull vodka from the bottle on stage, they destroyed their set on our music show at the time - Countdown, and along the way entrenched themselves into Aussie music culture.
Their stuff was hit and miss, but when they got it right it was great.
All the songs below did well on the charts.Standing On The OutsideYou Got Nothing I WantKhe Sanh - This is an anthem in Australia. EVERYONE knows the first line or two, and then pretty much nobody know the rest of the songNo SenseBreakfast At SweetheartsMy BabyFlame Trees - Their best song for me. This is as good as it gets for Jimmy Barnes. Song is hooky and melodicBow RiverChoir GirlWhen The War Is Over - This is one of their best ballads, tonnes of radio playCheap WineForever NowSaturday Night - One of their last songs, a ballad that did very wellJimmy Barnes
When Jimmy went solo, he became a resounding success, stamping his own mark on the Aussie music scene. Massive radio hits, more contemporary lighter rock for the most part, but some rock in there as well.
No Second PrizeI'd Die To Be With You TonightRide The Night AwayWorking Class Man - this was his breakout hit. Was in a Michael Keaton movieGood Times - This is a duet with Michael Hutchence from INXS. Big hitDriving WheelsToo Much Ain't Enough LoveI'm Still On Your SideLay Down Your GunsLet's Make It Last All NightLittle Darling - Probably my favorite song of his. Poppy and easy to listen toWhen Your Love Is GoneFade To Black - another great ballad, didn't do so well on the charts but one of my faves(Simply) The BestThe Weight - another stand outStone ColdChange Of HeartLover LoverGotcha - the first song from a covers album, also containing the songs below(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher And HigherWhen Something Is Wrong With My BabyShow MeMany Rivers To CrossReflectionsAin't No Mountain High EnoughI Found A LoveSigned Sealed Delivered (I'm Yours)Bring It On Home To MeHere I Am (Come And Take Me)River Deep Mountain HighRespectReach Out I'll Be ThereTry A Little TendernessStagger LeeSweet Soul Music -
"One of the more misinterpreted songs of all time, word was that "Turning Japanese" refers to the Asian facial features people get at the moment of climax during masturbation. In a VH1 True Spin special, they asked The Vapors about this song, and they explained that it is a love song about someone who lost their girlfriend and was going slowly crazy. Lead singer Dave Fenton said: "Turning Japanese is all the clichés about angst and youth and turning into something you didn't expect to." It was inspired by Fenton's relationship problems."

TMF for me.
The only one of the three which I have been able to get in to.
-
I'll attack these a couple at a time.
Noiseworks - fairly big band in Australia for a while. As Geoff said, Take Me Back is their standout. The others are mostly easy to listen to, probably because radio slammed them into our brains until we sung along.
Choirboys. Amazing band who are massively underrated.
Here are the tracks from my best of compilation.
These are all from their first ST album (1983) It is rawer and a bit more 'pub rock' sound to it than subsequent albums
Running From The Storm
Talk Big
Never Gonna Die - the song that got the initial radio airplay
You're With The Big Boys Now (Carrie)
Boys In The Band - this is an epic song
Bought & Paid For
Blood Is Thicker Than Water
Bullshit – popular is concerts and kind of cutting edge to have Bullshit as the song title at the time.
The Second album - Big Bad Noise (1988) Very commercial and great production which set the scene for future releases. The album that 'made them'
Run To Paradise - Their biggest hit. If you want to test out one song top see what the band's about, try this.
Struggle Town – Released as maybe the 4th single. OK
Boys Will Be Boys - The follow up to Run To Paradise. Also did very well
Like Fire
Fireworks - I still have the 7" single of this and it is way better than what made it to the album
Gasoline
One Hot Day
From Midnight Sun (1991) This album didn't do much for the band, yet it contains some of their best stuff
Midnight Sun
Our Empire Falls - This is a hooky classic song
Rise Up
Place With No Love
Rendezvous - one of my favorites from this band
We Believed – another great song which builds to a great chorus
From Yo-Yo (1996)
All Night
Lonely
Angeline
One Way Street
Gone
Solo
Can't Believe – kind of a punky song for them, the best of this album
This Is My Summer
From Evolver (2004) This albums has Beatles songs in brackets after each title. The songs play on this in the lyrics
Fuel (A Day In The Life) - the stand out here
Pharaohs (Let It Be)
The Dog Song – quirky poppy ballad
Dream On (All You Need Is Love)
Please Believe Me (Come Together)
Cold Outside Your Heart (Good Day Sunshine)
Break It Free (Girl)
Ride Up (Baby's In Black) – cool song with nice hooks
Roll It Over (Yesterday)
All Over You (She's Leaving Home)
Note, there is one more album, which I don’t have from 1994 which is Dancing on the Grave of Rock n' Roll
Other albums are Big Bad And Acoustic 2006 which is a best of acoustic versions and So Easy 2007 which is a covers album.

The first 2 D Toys albums are ok. Some great tracks and some average tracks.
3 and 4 were their shining moments.
-
I'm a massive Dangerous Toys fan, but Broken Teeth have always been a poor man's AC/Dc, and I'm not a huge AC/DC fan anyway.
Sad because Pissed is an amazing album, and I also consider r*tist to also be a great album (although most here likely won't)
I always wonder if there is still great D Toys music to be made, or if they just burnt out and became pretty much a cover band due to lack of inspiration.
Hell, my user name is a D Toys song

We may never have got QRIII
Which I love by the way. Hugely underrated album
*heads off to song of the day*
