  1. Imagine Dragons - Smoke + Mirrors Incubus - Fungus Amongus Incubus - S.C.I.E.N.C.E. Incubus - Make Yourself InMe - Overgrown Eden InMe - White Butterfly InMe - Herald Moth
  2. That Blue Blud album was a big part of my time as a teenager. I have fond memories associated with those tunes but I know nothing of their Trespass/Mendes Prey days. Is it a similar sound? Nope! Thank you! Wow that's quite a change from that to Blue Blud!
  3. All the changes to the original three over the years don't bother me. I've seen the originals without additions and the latest additions recently and i like them both. One of my earliest memories is from seeing A New Hope at the cinema with my dad. It's not a clear one though being only 2 and all
  4. Scorpions - Love at First Sting (purely for how many times i hear Rock You Like A Hurricane) Not heard any King Kobra or House of Lords Never really liked Harem Scarem Ratt - Only heard the first two and i've heard nothing beats Invasion of Your Privacy The rest i agree with When it comes to RATT you can't ignore Detonator. They have a great discography but Detonator has some of their best songs. I guess it may have been their peak but who knows really. Cmon Dark give Harem Scarem another go, I'd say they are one of the most respected bands in the melodic rock scene. I'll queue up some Ratt soon and have a listen. I'd be pleasantly surprised and pleased if the quality from the first two albums carries through some more releases. When i say i don't really like Harem Scarem i don't mean i dislike them. I neither like or dislike them. I've heard about three quarters of their releases and they are good but i don't tend to re-listen to good tracks. A track/album needs to have some power or some real emotion to it. If it has i'll listen to it over and over again and will probably never tire of it. They seem to be missing that tiny bit that'll take them from good to great.
  5. Okay, so ... Aerosmith - 'Rocks' (their 'Toxic Twins' peak) and 'Pump' (when they were 'clean') Motorhead - for me, creatively, it has to be 'Orgasmatron' (although, commercially, they probably peaked well before that) Megadeth - a tough one this, for me ... I love all of their albums up to 'Youthanasia' ... but if I had to pick one as my defining 'Deth album, it would be 'So Far, So Good ... So What!' Tesla - 'The Great Radio Controversy', with 'Psychotic Supper' running a very close second, creatively ... Def Leppard - 'Hysteria', no question ... I like a lot of what they've done since, but they didn't put a foot wrong on that album LA Guns - I never really bothered with Phil and the boys outside of their debut ... Scorpions - Love At First Sting Whitesnake - I think I've probably said more than enough about how I don't like anything they've done since 'Slide It In' ... their peak, for me, has to be 'Come An' Get It' Dokken - Tooth And Nail Cinderella - Long Cold Winter Great White/Harem Scarem/Kix/Slaughter/King Kobra/House Of Lords - never bothered much with any of these bands, aside from the odd track (or, in Slaughter's case, their debut ... although I saw Great White support Alice Cooper ... they were ... okay.) How about W.A.S.P.? I'd say that they never bettered 'The Headless Children' ... Aerosmith - Good call splitting them in to two periods like Kiss. I never really gelled with the Toxic Twin era so can't really comment. Megadeth - You'd put So Far So Good above Rust in Peace? Wow! I'm ashamed to say i've heard nothing by Whitesnake prior to '87 which i owned on Cassette and wore out on the way to school Dokken - Not keen on them then? W.A.S.P. - Headless Children is probably about right. I love The Crimson Idol though but i suspect i'm in a minority on that one.
  6. Scorpions - Love at First Sting (purely for how many times i hear Rock You Like A Hurricane) Not heard any King Kobra or House of Lords Never really liked Harem Scarem Ratt - Only heard the first two and i've heard nothing beats Invasion of Your Privacy The rest i agree with
  7. Kiss and Aerosmith are hard to pin down. They are both so patchy. With Kiss one of two of my uncles who introduced me to rock was a massive Kiss fan and i heard all the makeup albums a lot and i thought they were great growing up but i the albums got a bit hit and miss after Love Gun. The solo albums and Music From the Elder prime examples. All of the 80's albums had some great tunes on but each had filler and i only chose Crazy Nights because of the popularity of Crazy Crazy Nights. Aerosmith to me have always been a bit hit and miss. I first heard Permanent Vacation and Pump and then investigated their back catalogue which didn't have many tunes that grabbed me. Dream On and Kings and Queens are the only two in fact.
  8. HIM - Screamworks: Love In Theory And Practice HIM - Tears On Tape Hinder - Extreme Behavior Hinder - Take It To The Limit Hinder - All American Nightmare Hole - Live Through This Hole - Celebrity Skin Iggy Azalea - The New Classic Imagine Dragons - Night Visions Imagine Dragons - iTunes Session
  9. I can't figure out those Kiss or Aerosmith choices *scratches head and goes off to have a good look through their discographies*
  10. Looks like it's a no then. Magazine subscriptions are dead. Team Rock are really pushing for people to subscribe to their electronic service that can be read on a PC/Laptop through their site or through an Android/iOS app but i'm just not interested. I'd rather browse a couple of news sites and be active member of a forum
  11. Ok i'm liking Hinder and added three tracks to my favourites (Use Me, Last Kiss Goodbye and The Life). Party tunes track list is growing. The plan is to lead off with a few covers people may recognise, then some classics and then some obscure tracks i like. So not in their playing order which i haven't decided yet: Bai Bang - Stay Blessed By A Broken Heart - Shut Up And Rock Bon Jovi - Livin' On A Prayer Brother Firetribe - Chasing the Angels Bullet For My Valentine - No Easy Way Out Crazy Lixx - 21 'til I Die Dan Reed Network - Ritual Enbound - Beat it Firehouse - All She Wrote Gun - Word Up Guns N Roses - Night Train Halestorm - Bad Romance H.E.A.T. - 1000 Miles Journey - Don't Stop Believin Lillian Axe - All's Fair In Love And War Motley Crue - Kickstart My Heart Rock Sugar - Round and Seperated Shotgun Messiah - Heartbreak Blvd Skid Row - Youth Gone Wild Slaughter - Reach for the Sky Sven Gali - Under The Influence Tesla Modern Day Cowboy Thunder - Castles in the Sand Tigertailz - Love Bomb Baby Vain - Beat the Bullet Vixen - Not a Minute Too Soon Warrant - Cherry Pie Whitesnake - Still of the Night Wig Wam - Rocket Through My Heart The last two song of the night will be slow ones like the old school disco days Alias - More Than Words Can Say Bon Jovi & Leann Rimes - We Ain't Strangers Anymore Alias was our first dance at our wedding and the missus walked in to Bon Jovi We Ain't Strangers
  12. Haha, you're excellent. I knew there was a reason I liked you. Couldn't possibly agree with you more on that, mate. Anyway, I only listen to Tesla from that 2nd batch from Gibbo, and no doubt in the world to me that 'Great Radio Controversy' is their peak. Love all their albums (except the last one), but that was definitely the best moment. Thank you sir! I'm not scared of being controversial The only Tesla song i can remember is Modern Day Cowboy which if i remember right is an absolute classic.
  13. No idea, my magazine gets put through the letter box every month Never heard of Metal Edge so not sure if it still exists. I used to get Kerrang in my teens. Still got them somewhere i think, i must dig them out for a giggle. I've bought Metal Hammer in the past but the articles just weren't as interesting as Classic Rock and no where near as well written.
  14. I certainly don't FEEL old - although my kids do like to tell me just how ancient I am I just remembered a couple of other songs that have made it onto various 'party' compilations over the years: Aerosmith: Dude (Looks Like A Lady) and Rag Doll Warrant: Cherry Pie AC/DC: Highway To Hell I was tempted by AC/DC Touch Too Much but that and Highway to Hell aren't sounding right mixed in with the more modern stuff. I am completely sick of Dude, Rag Doll, Love in an Elevator et al by Aerosmith. For some reason i can only listen to the ballads these days. Warrant's Cherry Pie is a good call though, a great party tune which should fit in nicely. Checking out Hinder today who i've not heard anything at all by
  15. My missus bought me a subscription to Classic Rock a few years ago and has paid for it ever since and i look forward to it coming. It's nice to not be reading from a screen of some sort for a change and they used to have the odd track on the free CD i'd really like but sadly recently it's been full of drivel.
  16. AC/DC - I've never been a fan of Brian Johnson so for me it would be Highway To Hell Judas Priest - Painkiller Guns n' Roses - Appetite Motley Crue - Dr Feelgood? Kiss - Classic era i'd say Destroyer. The 80's kiss resurgence how about Crazy Nights. Metallica - ...And Justice For All Van Halen - It's most likely 1984 Queensryche - Has to be Operation Mindcrime When it comes to the Crue, my favourite album was, is and will always be 'Shout At The Devil' ... I know most people cite 'Feelgood' as their peak, but I think there's some serious filler on that album ... I never really liked 'Justice' - that was a real dip after the brilliance of 'Master of Puppets' ... long, rambling songs, and a lot of it blurs into one for me When it comes to DLR-era Van Halen, 'Fair Warning' always tops '1984' in Gibbo Towers - there's more 'light and shade' on the former, while the latter contains 'Girl Gone Bad', which has me reaching for the 'skip' button every time ... I think with Hagar they went out on a high with 'Balance' Queensryche? 'Mindcrime', no question. What about, say, Aerosmith? Or Motorhead? Megadeth? Tesla? Blimey, you could go on forever! I forgot Maiden from your earlier post. I'd say Live After Death. Each album before it had essential tunes leading up to one of the greatest live albums of all time. I thought Somewhere in Time was a bit of a dip before bouncing back with Seventh. I'll concede to Metallica's Master of Puppets. I love both it and the Justice album but do admit Puppets is the better of the two. I have a love/hate relationship with the black album. Some songs i like but i just wished they'd carried on in the same vein as the previous three. Van Halen have never made a great album to my ears. Every one of them is full of filler. I have four songs in my favourites list, two off the debut, one from 5150 and one from FUCK. So it's hard for me to pick their peak when they haven't had one yet Aerosmith i was in to back in the day but they are one of the few bands from back then i don't listen to anymore. Permanent Vacation must be their peak but Pump and Get a Grip both outsold it. Motorhead i've not really followed but i'll guess at Ace of Spades? Megadeth has to be Countdown to Extinction. Rust in Peace was great but i played Countdown more and sales figures seem to agree. I've only heard Tesla's debut. Blimey indeed
  17. Anthony Gomes - Up 2 Zero Anthony Gomes - ...Before The Beginning Anthony Gomes - Electric Field Holler Aquaria - Luxaeterna Arwen - Memories Of A Dream Beasto Blanco - Live Fast Die Loud Heavens Edge - Heavens Edge Heavens Edge - Some Other Place Some Other Time HIM - Venus Doom
  18. I didn't want to assume that was the case for all i know it could have been a completely different reason like being marooned on a desert island for 10 years
  19. That Blue Blud album was a big part of my time as a teenager. I have fond memories associated with those tunes but I know nothing of their Trespass/Mendes Prey days. Is it a similar sound?
  20. Just gave Heaven's Edge self titled album a spin. I'm not really sold on Come Play the Game i'm afraid although i liked Bad Reputation but it's not really a party song but i'm giving it a re-listen to see if it is strong enough to make my favourites list
  21. Duly added to the want list. ;-)
  22. I'll second that, Never Had Nothing is a great track along with Losing It and In For A Thrill Looking back further in the thread there isn't a lot of info on Harry K Cody out there still
  23. That is awesome!. Never heard of them.
