  1. Must be the next song they're releasing....Think full version is out tomorrow. Sounds fantastic to me
  2. For me, not liking this second song as much as the first. To me, this one sounds more "poppy". I also am hearing the accent more in the vocals on this track which I think is impacting me a little. It's still okay though and is the kind of song that could grow on me depending on the rest of the album. I'm kinda on the fence with this one....I normally like just a tiny bit more "edge" than this has. I need to hear a couple more songs.
  3. I liked the first song...Looking forward to the second. Not a pre order for me yet though...Need to hear a couple more songs.
  4. I cant believe no one else is commenting on the production. Sounds like it was recorded in a tin can. A big hollow one Marvellous song, worrying production. I definitely know what you mean by the production. It's not as "clean" sounding as I'd like but it makes the songs more "raw" which I'm all for Sounds real good. They are 3 for 3. I have high hopes for this group and album I can hear it too in the songs...Bit thin, wish the drums were more prevalent... But it's just not really bothering me and I suspect it will sound better once I get the CD and listen to it properly.
  5. Very good observation...That opening reminds me of Let It Go. I see some in other places still knocking the production but it sounds okay to me. I guess I'm just not a stickler on production most of the time as long as it's done reasonably decent. I suppose it could knock it down a few points but good songs are good songs This is exactly the kind of cookie-cutter, hook-filled, bubble-gum melodic rock I like
  6. Pre-order done. Really like all these tunes and this one might just be my favorite yet. Sounding like this album is going to be a contender and setting the bar high for the likes of Eclipse, H.e.a.t, etc.
  7. It was much better than 'Riot Avenue.' Not imo - too throw away. All I really liked was 'Hell Raising Woman', 'Girl of the 80s' and 'I Missed the Mark'............the second half in particular was really weak, outside of the pointless re-record. I sorta agree with you both... Definitely better than Riot Avenue for me....That album just did absolutely nothing for me. But while I did like the last album, agree that the second half was pretty weak and it's not really an album I've returned to much after the initial couple months of listening to it. They've done some good stuff though so will be giving it a fair chance.
  8. Agree with you on these two songs versus Ted's solo stuff....I just haven't been able to get into his solo stuff outside of the off song here or there but I like these two songs. I really think Steve Brown's touches have something to do with it. I think another new song is supposed to be released this week so looking forward to hearing that to see if it can be 3 for 3.
  9. Nice...Liked the last album...Will be interesting to see how the new lineup follows it up.
  10. I think one that comes to mind for me over the past handful of years is Living On The Run from H.e.a.t....melodic rock bliss for me.
  11. Currently in my rotation... Maverick - Big Red Maverick - Quid Pro Quo Pretty Maids - Kingmaker And for Christmas I got Motherland and Pandemonium from Pretty Maids. I've made myself a mix CD of those two discs with the songs I like best and combined it really makes for one fantastic album Not that they both aren't good but there's a few songs on each of them that just don't do too much for me.
  12. This is cheating, according to Geoff! Really? Why? I don't understand. Anyway some cool tunes but quite different to mine. I thought 'Falling' was one of the weaker songs on an album I didn't really get into anyway... but you don't seem to have been alone in your adoration for that song. It does nothing for me, personally. Same with 'Save me tonight' in context of that Defiants disc. A solid (very straight forward, I must say - very basic) ballad, but again I don't think it'd be in my top half of that disc. As for the Dan Reed tune, I just thought that album was a disaster, that song included. But aside from that, the Poley song as well as Pretty Maids, First Signal and Wigelius tunes would all be in my top 20-30. Save me Tonight is all about the melody in the chorus. genius imo. and that closing solo is perfection. Yeah mate, it's a nice song. Don't get me wrong. But jeez, you gotta admit it's pretty generic. Right down to the song name itself... But a nice song, nevertheless. I tell you what I really liked about that Defiants albums though, was all the little extras they threw into the songs - the bits where they slow down, Laine does some quirky vocal.........it wasn't just the normal verse chorus verse chorus like normal. That's one of the things I really like about this ballad...........that part where it slows right down and stops dead. then comes back in - I love that bit, and then followed by the outro chorus and that solo....its just marvellous. Gives me goosebumps in the car when I listen at night. That's a sign of a great song imo. I agree about that Defiants album and it's why it was probably my top album of 2016...Lots of hooks and Laine shows a lot of different sides on that album....Just find it very easy and interesting to listen to. As for my favorite songs of 2016, ones coming to my mind in no particular order: Falling - Nordic Union Hypocrisy - Nordic Union Take Me Back - Defiants When The Lights Go Down - Defiants Face The World - Pretty Maids Humanize Me - Pretty Maids Bulls Eye - Pretty Maids Inferno - Treat Endangered - Treat The One - Maverick Forever - Maverick Aim For The Head - Cruzh Hard TO Get - Cruzh Tearing Down The Sky - Tyketto Part of Me - Palace When We Were Young - Tango Down
  13. LOL ^ It's a downright shame what these guys have turned into. I swear I hear a Country-ish twang in almost all their songs these days. These guys were one of my favorite bands back in the day and have seen them quite a few times live....But over the past 5 years or so they've become completely dead to me. Honestly I wouldn't take this new album if somebody were passing it out for free...And have zero interest in ever seeing them again live.
  14. I was lukewarm on the first album from these guys....It was okay but didn't like it enough to buy the album and only downloaded the few songs I liked. And I haven't really returned to those songs very often outside of maybe Need You To Understand. I think that I struggle at times with the vocals and accent on some of their songs and it holds them back a little for me. Not sure on this newest sample either....I'd like to hear the whole song before really judging but can't say it's overwhelming me.
  15. Exactly my thoughts. Sorta reminds me a little of Runaways that added to Armgaeddonize on the deluxe edition. It's the kind of melodic rock I want from Eclipse though....Good stuff.
  16. Well...That song sounds pretty well done to me.....really nice.
  17. Yeah...Can't say it's really bothering me much either. I've seen others complaining about it a lot though. I suppose it does seem like the drums are pretty thin in the sound but I really doubt it bothers me. I'm too busy with all the melodies and hooks to notice it
  18. Liking this a lot...Definitely hear a lot of Steve Brown's influence as both these songs basically sound like Trixter songs with just a different vocalist to me. Yeah...It's probably a bit disposable and a bit "syrupy" but don't really care. I've also seen people complaining about the mix being off over at MR.com and don't really care about that either. For me, I never judge mixes from online samples as these things always sound better once I get the CD and I rarely let mixes influence my judgement all that much anyhow unless it's really badly done. I had some reservations on this as Poley's latest solo album was very hit and miss for me....Liked a few songs but really didn't care for most of it. I'm liking these two songs though. Looking like a purchase to me.
  19. Quid Pro Quo is excellent imo. Esp the second half. Bought Quid Pro Quo recently after buying Big Red about a month ago....Really liking this album. It might not be quite as good as Big Red but still very solid. Got It Bad is just awesome....Quite like Paint By Numbers, Electric and Took The Night also. Really though, I find the whole thing pretty enjoyable and easy to listen to. I just like these guys sound a lot...2 great releases that seem to have really flown under the radar on many of the sites I follow. These guys have moved onto my automatic purchase list in the future
  20. These guys are fantastic....Probably my favorite new "American" band. Have also heard a good number of songs that are likely to be included on the next album as they've been playing various new songs live. I can't wait to hear studio versions of these songs! And while it doesn't matter for the quality of the music....Have to say that these guys come off as being just fantastic guys. I spent some time with Pat and Chris chatting after one of their shows this summer and they just came off as being super humble and appreciative guys which just makes them easy to support and root for. Looking forward to the next release and it will be an automatic day one pre-order/purchase for me.
  21. Well...Eclipse>Wet>Work of art for me. I've just not gotten into Work of Art at all...Don't even really think they belong in the same discussion with Eclipse as they're almost different genres to my ears.
  22. Nope. I haven't even seen physical copies of the CD available anywhere to pre-order yet either...It's a little bit odd as it seems like usually Frontiers has all that set once they start sharing songs with pre-order links usually shared at the same time. I asked Frontiers and they did say Physical links would be coming soon...I probably would've ordered already if they had them available. Now though I'll probably wait until I hear another song to see if I like it before ordering.
  23. Agree on both counts.... Thailand is weird but maybe they just really want to get away and eliminate distractions or something....I don't know. And agree on the excitement also. These guys have become one of my favorite bands with their past two releases and this will easily be my most anticipated release of 2017.
  24. Press release put out that they've booked studio time in March 2017 to record a new album. I'm glad to see they're working with Tobias Lindell again... http://ymlp.com/zWdGMb H.E.A.T announce recording of new album. DUE TO BE RELEASED 2017 H.E.A.T are proud to announce the recording of their yet untitled next album to be released in the year of 2017. Following the release of their previous critically acclaimed album, Tearing Down The Walls, the band have been touring all over the world gaining the reputation of one of the best live acts out there. H.E.A.T have been focusing on writing new songs for more than a year and now they are ready to hit the studio once again. This time they will be recording the album in Thailand together with producer Tobias Lindell (Europe, Hardcore Superstar, Avatar etc) who also produced Address The Nation and Tearing Down The Walls. “Fina-fucking-lly… I can’t wait to record this album and spend some time with my dysfunctional family in Thailand. Tobias is our sixth family member and will - as usual - take on the role as our caretaker…. Jokes aside - I’m very positive about the new material and I think we sound better than ever”. - Erik Grönwall H.E.A.T will start recording the album in March 2017. Release date to be announced later next year
