  1. I do a bit too...just wish the songs were beefed up...little more richness in guitars and drums or something. I think that's partly why it's fallen a couple spots for me. Still good though. I still struggle with the production on the Tokyo Motor Fist
  2. Mine so far: H.e.a.t - Into The Great Unknown (Heard it all, like it plenty) Crazy Lixx - Ruff Justice (Fantastic effort from these guys that is right there with H.e.a.t) Eclipse - Monumentum Tokyo Motor Fist (Was my #1 at one point this year but has faded a bit for me) One Desire - S/T (Album continues to be one I find myself going back to) Haren Scarem - United (Haven't traditionally liked much of their stuff but really like this album) Degreed - S/T (Another solid, consistent effort) I'm stopping there. A couple other releases like Art Nation and Warrant that I've enjoyed but not enough to list. I see many touting Confess....I need to give that a closer look. I remember trying a few songs and it just didn't grab me. I remember that Animal Attraction video being good though Only other release I think that could crack my list would be Midnite City. Based upon what I've heard, it could very well slot into my Top 5.
  3. If anybody is yet to hear Blind Leads The blind it was played on last night FRYdays with Fry show....Here's a link. Blind Leads The blind starts at about the 1:01:10 mark. https://www.mixcloud.com/arfm/pete-fry-fryday-with-fry-september-15th-2017/
  4. https://www.mixcloud.com/arfm/pete-fry-fryday-with-fry-september-15th-2017/ Link with Midnite city stuff... The 1:01 mark has the 25 minute interview with Rob Wylde. We Belong is played at about the 2:40:50 mark and then Summer Of Our Lives follows at about the 2:44:50 mark.
  5. Summer Of Our Lives was played on this weeks FRYdays with Fry show....Another good one. Think a video for this song is coming next week. Also had a good 25 minute or so interview with Rob Wydle. Will post a link once it's available. Really loving the 4 songs I've heard from this album.
  6. A little Crazy Lixx I'd say also, but yes good comparisons. Agree with that....Kind of Crazy Lixx crossed with TMF. I'm really digging it either way
  7. Replay of podcast with some Midnite city songs is up...Here is the link: http://original.livestream.com/aiiradionet/video?clipId=pla_0f9e7e01-5964-4733-8d9d-f5cfec8176fe&utm_source=lslibrary&utm_medium=ui-thumb The very first song in the podcast is We Belong which we've heard already. Then can skip forward to about the 2:32 mark for Ghost Of My Old Friends followed by Think About You.
  8. Heard 2 additional tracks from this release on a podcast tonight at aiirradio.net. I'll post a link if I see a replay available. Heard Ghost of My Old Friends and Think About You. Ghost of My Old Friends is fantastic...Think About You sounded good too although I was a little distracted during that one. Really shaping up to be a great release....Very much in the vein of stuff like The Defiants, Tokyo Motor Fist, Danger Danger, etc. IMO.
  9. Can get a good taste of another song in this video posted on the bands FB page....Everything You Meant To Me. Sounds like a pretty good ballad to my ears.... https://www.facebook.com/midnitecityuk/videos/238656643289124/
  10. Thanks for the heads up! Sounding fantastic to me even in crappy quality on my computer. Can't wait to hear this properly Here is a link to the podcast. The Midnite City song starts at about 16:30 into the podcast. https://www.mixcloud.com/arfm/pete-fry-fryday-with-fry-september-8th-2017/
  11. Still not what I'd call a fantastic review but a little bit better written than the one above.... https://www.therockpit.net/2017/album-review-midnite-city-midnite-city/ There’s just the right amount of grunt in the guitars and more than enough melody in opening track ‘We Belong’ to make you believe that Rob Wyldes’ latest band ‘Midnite City’ might really have created something very special here. There’s a real feeling of the glory days of the late eighties about the sound and more than a hint of Danger Danger in their prime. It’s a track I actually found myself playing a half a dozen times before I ventured on – it really is that good. ‘Ghost of my Old Friends’ that follows it is that age old tale of years passing us by and it rides the silken threads of melody to a chorus awash with saccharin backing vocals and a strong hook. Tick that box too it’s another winner, and one that gets better with each subsequent listen! Rob Wylde of course will be well known to many, current lead singer with Tigertailz, and ex-vocalist/guitarist with one of my favourite bands this millennium Teenage Casket Company, not to mention his stints with Vega, China Doll, Sins of America and current ‘covers band’ Poizon. That’s a lot of experience under the belt and it shows – this indeed sounds like the album he was born to make. ‘Summer of out Lives’ one of the original songs Wylde demoed to get the deal with AOR Heaven has a nice Teenage Casket Company kick to the opening and more of that punky edge that suits Wylde’s vocals so well. But its when the sweet summer melody of the chorus kicks in that you get carried away. Three songs in we’re looking at something rather special indeed. At every turn the most astounding thing about this debut is the sheer quality of the songs. ‘Nothing’s Like Losing You’ takes the pace off a little but delivers another memorable refrain; ‘Last Beat of My Heart’ is mid-tempo bliss; and ‘Everything You Meant to Me’ rounds out the first half with a ballad that may well follow a familiar pattern and subject matter but still manages to connect and bring up the hairs on the back of your neck. Six songs in you are well and truly hooked. Deeper in, ‘Can’t Wait For the Nights’ is sheer feel-good hair metal with a shot or two of pop for good measure; whilst ‘One Step Away’ manages to channel Wylde’s inner Rick Springfield. ‘I Just Can’t Take It’ adds more of that summer feeling and has one of the most immediate hooks here. That’s followed by the second ballad ‘Things She Said’ which really has class written all over it and seems like a sure fire late night, end of the set certainty. Final track ‘Think About You’ attempts to trump the lot of them. It’s a mid tempo rocker in the vein of the opening track and equally as good, maybe even the best song here. This is an album that has it all – there’s a uplifting feel to this one, a kick of rock, the sheen of pop, and the smell of the summer in every slice. Remember when music used to be fun? Well I’ve news for you – it is again. Midnite City is out on AOR Heaven on October 20th, 2017, Midnite City will be taking their live show out on the road in the UK, Europe and the USA in late 2017/ 2018. You better be there.
  12. LOL....I agree. Wouldn't have posted it but haven't seen any other reviews. It's a good example of how not to write a review.
  13. Yeah...I hadn't planned to get the Japan version but after seeing a review that the bonus track is a storming rocker that called it the best track on the album....I caved. One more big rocker at the end of the album would serve the album well IMO. The review I saw was probably paid off by one of the Japan companies lol....And it'll turn out to be some weird pop song with my luck.
  14. Well...I've bought 2 copies....The japan version and a signed album from Bengens in Sweden....So I don't feel guilty at all Also certain this will rank high for me even though that probably comes as little surprise. I'm feeling like it'll be right there with Crazy Lixx, Eclipse and Tokyo Motor Fist as my favorites this year. I've really, really liked One Desire, Degreed and Harem Scarem also though... What a great year for melodic rock....so many quality, superb releases. I think every album I mentioned could've been my favorite album in some prior years.
  15. Really looks fantastic....Saw a review posted that gave it high grades. It isn't much of a review but it's all I've seen so far: http://minizine.berock-radio.com/html/reviews/pages-017/midnite_city_midnite_city/midnite_city_midnite_city.html#.WbKh8ch959N The album begins with the beautiful keys, rhythmic bass and melodic guitars of "We Belong"! After a while, the crystal-clear vocals arrive, and that is when the headbanging begins! What an amazing hair metal rhythm, with amazing lyrics followed by fantastic vocals! Coming right up after that is "Ghost Of My Old Friends", which has the same "ingredients" as the previous track, but it's more melodic and powerful! These two tracks have provided an excellent start to the album! Okay, we're talking about yet another excellent Hair Metal piece of work from the music scene of UK! All these tracks are high-level quality compositions and the performances are excellent! Rob Wylde is a great vocalist with a crystal-clear voice, which is great for melodic hard rock! (And hard to come across...) The rest of the band's line-up, such as Pete Newdeck , Miles Meakin, Miles Meakin, Shawn Charvette and Josh 'Tabbie' Williams, are excellent artists. These guys have 'bonded' together perfectly, and together they have given us an amazing, high quality Hair metal album! There's nothing else you could ask for in a band! If you like Hair metal music, then go get the album, It will be released on the 20th of October 2017 by AOR Heaven! In summary, these guys have given us an amazing album, which is also their debut, making it all the more important. Excellent, well-written compositions and fantastically performed tracks. As for the score, I can't give it anything less than excellent, as such, I rate it 10/10!
  16. Yep for sure - definitely want those to stay on the live setlist. Yes, 2 great songs right there. Emergency being my favorite from TDTW.Exactly! No songs of this caliber on the new record Matter of opinion. Personally I prefer Eye of The Storm to both. Stunning ballad. And Bastards and Blind are excellent too....of the songs I've heard. Granted Point of No Return is a fabulous song but let's be honest that was head and shoulders the best track on TDTW and probably better than anything on ATN too so a bit unfair to compare that song. What about the lesser songs on TDTW - imo only about half that album was great, the other half was pretty good but not the shit kicking awesome everyone seems to be referring to?? Just saying..... Agree with you....songs like We Will Never Die, All The Nights, Laughing at Tomorrow aren't very spectacular to me....Even though I still like the songs for what they are. As I said earlier, I think they've been pretty varied on their past couple albums and this new one just continues the variety. Agree on Eye Of The Storm too,,,,fantastic song. I do think these first 3 song choices are fairly odd choices. Yeah, they're all probably the most "commercial" songs on the album so I get it from that respect. But I was really expecting a rock song next like Bastard or Blind. Absolutely loving this album. I do think it tails off slightly in the last few songs after the barn burner Blind Leads The Blind but the last 3 are still catchy tunes. Here's audio of Eye Of The Storm that might actually stay up now that it's officially released....
  17. Agree. I saw them and thought it was one of the best live shows I've seen. I'd love to see these guys on a big stage with Def Leppard like video screens and production. We've been over this issue many times of Kenny vs Erik....both excellent singers and always people the like Kenny better, or Erik better, or both of them....Or neither of them. I much prefer Erik and for me it isn't even close. I really don't even know if Kenny's voice would work for some of the songs they've done on the past couple albums. I mean, IMO Kenny's voice wasn't built for songs like Inferno, Bastard of Society, Blind Leads The Blind, etc. Mostly, I found Kenny pretty bland and really can't even listen to the first two albums anymore...not to mention Erik's stage presence blow's Kenny away IMO. All a matter of taste though. Kenny could definitely sing, as can Erik. They just bring different styles to the table.
  18. After multiple listens now, I'm not even sure there really is all that much of a new "style". Yeah, Time On Our Side is a bit different and that threw everyone for a loop as the first single....But I just view that song as sort of an up tempo ballad. I agree about Do You Want It.....Didn't need that whole falsetto thing or whatever it is but the song is still pretty catchy. Really though, they're just using production like they did on songs like Mannequin Show, Enemy In Me, Downtown, etc. They've just taken the production up a notch on many of these songs which is kinda the same thing they did on TDTW compared with ATN....TDTW was bolder, more commercial, bigger production.....They've just done those same things again IMO. I view Time On Our Side, We Rule and Do You Want It as sort of the experiment songs that made me scratch my head at first....but they're growing on me for their variety in the context of the album. I'm probably bias....I've really loved the past couple albums and the direction they've went with the "Gronwall version" of H.e.a.t so maybe not the most impartial judge lol. I think Erik shines on this album though and after a few listens it's really feeling more massive to me. I really do think they made a poor choice with the first single being Time On Our Side. With that song and the album title, I think it's really gotten people thinking they're going some whole, new direction. After hearing the whole album though, I really don't think it's all that different of a direction...It's still a melodic rock album that doesn't feel all that different than what they've done on the past couple albums with just some new wrinkles tossed in. I expect many different opinions though as there is a lot going on in some of these songs.
  19. Nice interview with the guys in Station... Toward the end they mention the next album is aiming to be out March/April of 2018.
  20. Have heard this whole album through a friend...Won't say too much about it but have to say a little.... I like it plenty and definitely a lot going on in these songs which some may like and others may find cheesy or over-produced. Personally, I'm finding it all pretty interesting to listen to due to all the variety and it's catchy as heck. I think at the end of the day there will be opinions all over the board on this because it's a bit different. That said, it really reminds me a lot of Def Leppard back in the 80's and what they did with Hysteria in terms of trying to make a more commercialized album and experimenting with production. I clearly remember many fans calling them pop sellouts or whatever and I can see people saying that about this album. I think H.e.a.t's catalog has always been pretty varied though especially over the past couple albums. There isn't as much up tempo rock here as TDTW had, but it's still a good ride and is more varied. I do think this is basically a combination of the past couple albums with some unexpected twists that gives it a fresh feel. If I had one complaint, I think I would've liked at least one more outright rocker a the end of the album either before or after the title track. However, the Japan version might fix that as FYI Miley sounds like it might be a burner Overall, pretty awesome though and will unsurprisingly rank high on my 2017 list
  21. Couple unofficial songs posted on you Tube....not sure how long these will be around although both these songs were in the stream that broke earlier. Blind Leads The Blind: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erbgdxw_BkE&sns=em Eye Of The Storm: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4gXY1TtGeNw Two great tunes IMO and hoping they officially release BLTB.
  22. Really looking forward to this one...liked the samples I heard.
  23. I only share this review because it's the first one I've seen that talks about the Japan bonus track FYI Miley.... Review says: The Japanese edition has a great bonus track, “FYI Miley”. A smoking rocker of a song, it is by far the best song on the album and a good reason for everybody to track down the Japanese edition. https://roppongirocks.com/2017/09/01/album-review-h-e-a-t-into-the-great-unknown/ Damn it....Now I'll probably have to get the Japan version. Outside of the obvious with bands always putting good tracks as bonus tracks....one little thing that always annoys me with Japan CD's as that they're never encoded in English so the track titles never show up on my radio screens. Just a little OCD thing that most could probably care less about but I'll usually re-burn these things myself.
