  1. Gotta completely agree...not for me, I think I'm just out of the AOR loop these days, dunno what it is but it's just not rocking my world...is it the production? just boring ..no grunt, nothing sexy or mind blowing, or BOOM, no dynamics that put you close to the edge before pushing you off ...no wow put the window down I wanna have the world here this! Just chug-a-lug stuff. Maybe bands should start recording analogue again coz I tell ya I find it hard to distinguish one band from another these days. I'd be interested to see if they were a gigging band before this release or just something that's been thrown together by like minded individuals just before they went into the studio...sat in front of a computer...whatever.. For me 9 times out of 10 the Frontiers label sucks. they need some kind of quality control. But it's getting rave reviews everywhere...so obviously I'm wrong. I may be 49 but I'm not ready for a bath chair yet...now where's that Rods album! You're not wrong, Nick, it's just that people tend to go wild over just about anything that is released under the MHR / AOR label these days. Look around at the review sites and you will see the most average of AOR releases getting top scores and rave reviews. Same here on this board. I guess I can understand that people like this album. It's all very well done, nice, listenable, etc etc... but where's the magic? The identity? Something that distinguish it from every other MHR release today and make it stand out from the heap. I don't hear it. Again your comments make no sense.....you hear nothing in this release and yet love White Widdow, which is one of the most unoriginal, generic releases of the whole year. & no-one is raving here about every release this year - perhaps you are confusing us with Melodicrock.com where a band literally has to pick up a guitar to earn a 90% score. I have only bestowed that type of score on about 5 or 6 releases all year and I can honestly say they are all well worthy of that score and stack up to any release in the last 20 years. I never said The Magnificent sucked, just that I wasn't impressed after one listen. Now that I've listened again it was better, but still far from a killer album IMO. Will probably land at 65-75% just like most releases I've heard this year. As for White Widdow, it's indeed as unoriginal as it gets, and in fact that's one of reasons the debut wasn't a top album for me. I just feel the songs on "Serenade" were so much stronger than it didn't matter. Still one of the top releases this year. Out of interest, which releases do you rate at 90% and above this year? For me there's only a handful too: Steel Panther 94% Airrace 93% Chickenfoot 92% White Widdow 92% ha ha, Airrace aint one of em, and nor is Chickenfoot. & nor is WW come to that :-) Glad you like The Panther, now that is a cool album! House Of Lords- Big Money for me for sure is above 90%, I'd say 95%. The Magnificent cd is up there as well at about 94%

    HELP!

Who made that compilation? Why is Buckcherry on there?
  3. The Magnificent album is much superior to work of art's latest IMHO. Very much agree.
  4. Crazy Lixx, W.E.T., Crashdiet, and Chris Laney?!!! Can Not wait!
  5. YES!!! I would also add Winter Rose w/ James Lebrie
  6. My 3 favs. in order are ROMANCE, WILD TOUCH and BORN TO BREAK YOUR HEART!
  7. Anyone in the R.I. or MA. area, House of lords has a few shows coming 2 In CONN. and 1 in Coventry R.I. That show is supposed be only $12, can't beat that at all.
  8. Never a fan, but still too bad to hear.
  9. Yowser. Great song (I like most the disc) but I'd have to say that 'I can't wait' is another of my all time favourite tunes... not just on that CD but overall! Backed. The whole CD is great though imo. 2 awesome songs!
  10. I can't speak for those people, but I assume they go to see them as comedy show rather than rock show.
  11. I agree, both cd's are good, but those are stand out tracks!
  12. This is kind of hard. Because, you can just be picking your fav from that cd. How about: Dokken, In My Dreams-Under Lock And Key. Love the cd as a whole, but is the obviously "the best song on it". Scorpions, No One Like You-Backout
  13. like that album...love that song :-)) What about Tyketto debut - 'Forever Young' stands out sooooo much IMO. I also think that WINGS is on the same level. Love both of them the same.
  14. 'Cause they're a bunch of pussies. I kid. Or do I? I've tried to distance myself from this bored argument (and have succeeded until today, just because I have a few minutes) because the only logical and sensible comments were coming from the people who don't have any issue with the lyrics. The negative comments are contradictory (who are these great lyricists that Steel Panther are meant to be writing songs like??) and everyone who does says they should not be so rude and change their lyrics is saying - just as loudly in silence - that they wish Steel Panther were like everyone else, all 10 billion other bands in the world. They're saying they wish Steel Panther wrote generic lyrics about love and girls and rock and fighting for your dreams, or Jesus or whatever all the other bands sing about. Funny, I thought that's what we already had from 99% of the other releases in 2011, and 2010, and 2009... and so on. Why is it such a crime for one band to do something different? Hopefully these are my final words on the subject; but I just hope the skirt wearers one day accept that these guys are doing what they do and they're doing it very successfully, plus they seem to be thoroughly enjoying themselves. On what planet does it make sense for them to change into exactly what everyone else is doing, thus becoming a bored and generic face in the crowd before fading into obscurity? As I say, the arguments against what these guys are doing are just plain and simply silly, not well thought out and entirely illogical. Rant ended. Well put mate, can't disagree. As I'm sure has been debated before, this about is more than just lyrics, some people don't like the fact that SP are taking the piss out of eighties hair metal. Surely there is no question about that - you only have to watch the live performances to see that they are parodying the hair metal scene (and doing it well, with humorous results). I presume the band does like this music though, to be so good at playing it...? As you say a bit of variety is a good thing, I'm all for it, so fair play to SP. Plus they are f**kin' funny. The only complaint I've got is that if I get hold of one of their CDs, I can't play it in the car or leave it lying around the house as I can't risk the kids hearing/seeing it. Right, that's it, I'm joining the PMRC! I agree, Hopefully those were your last words on the subject! lol! I don't really have a problem with them being different, as I stated I like them and will continue to listen to them"mainly because of the music". All I meant out of it is that I'm 42 and have 2 little kids in the house and sometimes more, as well as family and friends over and ALWAYS have music playing in the background and don't want or need them hearing COCK, FUCK ,PUSSY or what have you that is all. But is it any different to films? I mean, I am sure you dont only watch PG rated films all the time. While the likes of Stryper, Journey and Bon Jovi etc are there for peoples PG needs, everyone needs their 18 rated bands for their own guilty pleasure moments. Yes, but music can be played anywhere anytime. my rated R movies are only played at night after the kids go to bed on lower volume. I like my music "not cranked " but at a good volume! I am also one for singing out loud, I use to sing in bands when I was younger so I love to sing along all the time ' so I have to watch myself lol!
  15. Animal Attraction is one of my favs, along with Born to Break Your Heart and speedin'. I love about 85-90% of this cd.
  16. Both the first 2 tracks are better than Young n Crazy I agree!

One more thing to add! Your comment about us being PUSSIES, well that would be a good song theme for their next cd, YOU CAN CALL ME A PUSSY, CAUSE I AM WHAT I EAT!!!
