  1. >> I'd love another Alleycat Scratch CD release, the band is rumoured to be sitting on a few albums worth of incredible material in the glam sleaze vein, wonder whats holding the guys up << "Incredible" is pushing it a bit. Very good, definitely. And there are various reasons from what I remember. Some former members would rather not see some of the older stuff out there if I remember correctly. Masters are lost, etc. There are demos with different singers (one or two of which couldn't really be called singers at all). With 'Last Call' it was just 3 "new" songs and a live show coupled with yet another live DVD.
  2. >> Anyone know if this ever got released on CD ? I just checked their myspace site and you can buy all the mp3's but no info on a disc. << No, it didn't
  3. >> i didnt intentionally act like im guaranteed to be a musician, cause im not...but im determined as hell....and i think that its better to tell yourself you're gonna do it than to think "well ill try but the chances are against me and ill probably fail anyway"... << Well, I do agree with you in that if you don't believe in yourself, noone else will. Just pay attention to how you present that, whether it's face to face with someone or on a public message board.
  4. >> nothings definite in life, i know that....but my point about dad being a musician wasnt to have his contacts, but his expereince. and im only trying to be a BACKING MUSICIAN, not much more, sure ill aim to be a big famous rockstar, but ill do the shit jobs to pay the bills. i was called a sellout on here for wanting to do covers, but if you want to make money from music you have to take whatever gig there is right? << But you seem to think that because your father did it you can also - that it's just going to happen because your path has already been paved. "Rockstar" or backing musician, it just does NOT work that way. I, for one, DON'T think you're a sellout for wanting to play covers, especially if you want to be a sideman because that's essentially what you'll be doing, playing covers. Learn to play as many different styles as you can get out there and do it live as much as possible. Just don't act as if you deserve to be a fulltime musician. >> i know i seem arrogant, but we've been through this for 5 months, and interestingly....Jez always finishes with "dont ask me for any more advice in future, cause i wont reply" yet he ALWAYS give me his opinion next time round << If I recall correctly Jez started out trying to HELP you but you never took him seriously or acted too full of it and too know it all so he got fed up with you. Listen to the guy, he lives near you. He's in a cover band, he could probably hook you up with some local people to help broaden your playing and your views. I think (might be wrong) that he offered to bring you up onstage to play a song a while back, right? Even if you think the guy is a twatwaffle some of the time take him up on his offers, listen to what he has to say. The guy MUST know the local music scene pretty well because the fucker's never gotten anywhere! (LOL Just messin with ya Jez) >> and i never asked for a taste of reality, im sick of reality already, i want to try and ignore reality for a little while longer and enjoy being a kid for awhile, atleast until i turn 18 next year. << Hey, I've been sick of reality forever and I'm in my late 60's (both Wotty and me are ...) but on one hand it seems as if you already want to be treated like an adult but slip back into "I'm a kid" mode when the pressure's too rough. There's nothing wrong with being 17 and having drive and determination ... just listen to what those who are experienced have to say. Everyone here (for the most part) is on your side still and you know that if you just HAPPENED to somehow step into a Robbie Williams gig, whether it be tomorrow or in 4 years most of us are gonna be proud of ya but stop acting like you already have it all down, okay?
  5. Finally getting into the new album and holy @#$% it's amazing. I'd heard a few tracks here and there off of it and liked them but the entire album as a package is practically unbeatable. "Devour" and "Call Me" are the strongest I think (at the moment anyway) but every song is a winner. I actually liked 'Us And Them', their previous album a good bit. If you haven't heard the song "I Dare You" then you don't know what you're missing. It's basically a modern AOR song, just like, uhhh ... yeah, this new album. A friend of mine in Dallas saw them a little while ago (pretty much played to an empty room) and he said they absolutely destroyed the club, played as if their lives depended upon it. Edit -----> Just watched the video for "Devour" ... pure garbage. Shame, really.
  6. >> DAMN! Great one with Ted! But Eric barely gets a question in. LOL << hahaha Thanks and yeah, it's not easy to out talk Braverman but Ted managed to do so.
  7. >> that may be the case, but im already down as it is....if i go into the music business expecting to fail then where will i end up? i think the only way to go at it is headfirst, and confident. confidence and a big ego are probably one in the same, but you need to be confident to be succesful. you guys can all have a big laugh about it in a few years if i fail, but im not going to expect failure, or get a back up job because the time im working i could be doing even more with my music. you guys might not have noticed but even though ive been on here every day my posts are becoming less and less, im spending alot mroe time with my music than i was before. even when i am on here im usually recording or learning songs for an audition, at the very least im practicing scales. yes im planning on going to college, but even then im going to take a music course. i dont have any interest in doing anything that takes up time i could use to work on my music. music is my life, without it i dont have a life. and i wouldnt want one anyway, im not going to take any chances, im going to keep focused on my goal and try and avoid whatever distractions i can, including a job....so ill be broke, but in the end i think itll work out better. << The one thing that is going to kick you squarely in the ass is your arrogance. It's (somewhat) subtle but it's there. Every single person replying to you on here is trying to give you a taste of reality but you refuse to see it. As I mentioned to you before, everyone's been there and everyone thought that it was "music or nothing. Music is my life, there is no other choice, blah, blah, blah" and in the end there HAD to be something else because music didn't work out the way "it was supposed to." You think you're going to get a pass because your father was a BACKING MUSICIAN for The Drifters (or Coasters, one of them). You seriously need to wake up from that dream. Do you have ANY idea how many children of "rock stars" or even "legends" have tried o make it in music and have FAILED?? Man, I saw tons of them playing clubs in Hollywood and very, very few even got a shot at it. And these people had parents who could get ANYONE on the phone at anytime. Your fall back is teaching at your dad's school, which is cool but wait until you see the hesitation on people's faces when they realize that their child (or themselves) will be taught by a 19 or 20 year old. The music industry SUCKS for "job security" and always has. Hopefully you'll finally wake up to that fact before you get your ass handed to you too badly.
  8. >> Every post you do, I get through about 3 words before I stop reading and have to look at what are bouncing below << As I said elsewhere, I post a lot of nonsense on here so I figure the presence of ol Christina there will allow me to stick around and not get chased away
  9. >> but my teenage life is nearly over and theres so many things that everyone experiences now that i havent. << This would be because you haven't gotten out and done anything. No time like the present to change that ...
  10. >> Yeah, I've heard the PBF story too. But the debut CD actually credits Stiles with the song writing, doesn't it? << No, there are no publishing credits at all on the album, which is what originally caused the controversy. The story is 100% true ... and, as far as the Bon Jovi guys ripping other people's music off I've heard that for over 2 decades now. A friend of mine even played me a demo that was done in 1985 or 86 with the exact same acapella opening (different lyrics) and intro solo as "You Give Love A Bad Name."
  11. >> Sounds like they're not putting much effort into the business of selling their CDs which is a shame since it's people like us and the others that ordered directly from them that are spreading the word about their music....... << Hmmm ...
  12. >> Maybe this Band " Loudlion can start talking shit about the band Toxin.... << Ohhhhh, that's good stuff
  13. 1 - Found a fucking scorpion in the house yesterday 2 - Fuck! I can't sleep! 3 - Ain't that a nice fuckin new signature thingie I have??????
  14. Our new episode: Eric Braverman's - The Greatest Music Ever Created and how it Ruined Our Lives #2 Features Lauren Harris and Dave Ellefson. Press release going out tonight about it.
  15. Meant to post this while this discussion was going on. This is Taylor at the most recent CMT Awards show. Just get past the nervous / off key intro to the song and she absolutely kills. Actually sounds a good bit like a Def Leppard song that her verrrrrry emo looking band is playing. And supposedly the last chorus bit she does (watch and you'll see ...) was all her idea. Taylor Swift kicking ass This ain't yer grandpappy's country ... that's fer sure.
  16. >> are we still missing him? Are we supposed to? Should we have a offical Wes is back so we no longer miss him thread? << I have terrible aim so I keep missing him ...
  17. >> Guilty as charged... but as long as they're of legal age it makes it slightly less creepy. << That's what I say! LOL
  18. >> "How cool is this?! Country's hottest young star wanting to work with us!!" says DEF LEPPARD's Joe Elliott. << Totally a publicist's quote, $100.00 says that never came out of Joe's mouth. LOL And Keith - she may be 18 but you're still a "creepy old guy"
  19. >> Elektra... Enigma... close enough! << Nuh uh!!!! We were cool. Elektra was, well ... powerful
  20. >> Elektra Combat Atlantic Mca Capitol/Enigma Intense Do any of these (and similar) actually exist any more? << Elektra = Warner now Combat - Reactivated a few years back but I think it's been shuttered again Atlantic = Warner Mca = Universal Capitol/Enigma - two separate companies. Enigma closed in 1992, we were distributed through Capitol. Capitol is now the Capitol Music Group with Virgin and EMI Intense - long gone. Stryper were signed to Enigma and then later signed to Hollywood when Peter Paterno (Enigma's attorney, Hollywood's CEO) re-signed them. They were never on Elektra.
  21. >> I saw this posted on Bravewords...looks like it'll be a great show!!! << Thank ya! We're pretty excited about it. The on air guy is a freakin mental case and comes up with the craziest ideas to do. We've already shot 2 episodes and should have the third one finished in a few weeks.
  22. Well, I guess noone likes theSyndikut. Maybe Scars On Broadway will fare better.
