  1. Never read the commotion, yet it's always there. This site stands for AOR/Hard Rock music in general which means any artist with a record in that style should be included. All for expanding database, good music's good music. If you've got a problem with that stick to your own ideals like going to the Brutal Metal section. Everything's pretty much said already.
  2. Sounds very promising! It's indeed new as the album says Hell Yeah! which will be their upcoming one. Also note the about section where the new disc is described as classic sound.
  3. No complaint for evolution as long as done right, problem is less quality and losing trademark sound. Deliver us the goods and we'll be more than happy to share excitement.
  4. Never write a Bon Jovi record off until you hear it, backed right there. Now I haven't been big on anything by them ever since Keep The Faith and they're a long way from the power Rock glory of the past but they're still Bon Jovi at heart. I for one do believe that with the current industry changes regarding a new generation interest in melodic Rock Bon Jovi might in fact dig up their old guns and shoot them for old times sake.
  5. Just read it a moment before coming here on the original forums, classic.
  6. Just another way of saying it really. If you stand for something namely good Rock music, acknowledge a song but withdraw statement when artist revealed than you are a poser just as much as a hypocrite in my book.
  7. Good read, sounds very my department haha! I often like contacting friends and the like about high standard quality ouput from a certain artist or band that doesn't necessarily live up to their stereotype and shock them gracefully with their true identity. It's great fun alright. Classic response: "Wow, I sure love this! Who is it?? X! Oh, it's alright. Nothing special really...". Hypocrites LOL!
  8. Definitely like what I'm hearing. Even though they seem to be direct copycats of Def Leppard they have stellar outputs. I'd say keep an eye on this band right here. They seem to be working on their very own full length debut album as of now. Could do big things when done right.
  9. Admittedly it's too early for me to tell what the staying power will be overall, but I would not hesitate to say it is by far one of the most diverse and interesting albums to be released this year. I'll agree with the interesting and diverse comment but I haven't got to the point of calling it classic yet. I do think it's very good, but just with it was called Axl Rose instead of GNR. And as Pete said it's also to early for me to tell what kind of staying power it's gonna have. Before you even ask, yes I know how fucking lazy I am... Here's a post I put on another board asking whether people liked the old Guns or the new... just figured I'd throw it out there 'cause that's just how I am. Techinically I totally agree with your comment about calling it "Axl Rose" as opposed to G'n'R but with the marketing power of the G'n'R name, I can say for sure I would have done the same thing as he did! I like 'em both, Axl's songwriting fuels the fire of both entities IMO. The styles of the individual musicians adds a different flavor on the newer stuff, but to me you've still got Axl at the heart of it, maybe even more so since he's got a lot more control with the new project. If anything, Chinese Democracy continues the creative progression from Use Your Illusion. Complex arrangements, sweeping almost soundtrack style instrumental melodies. The main thing that I don't see in the new stuff is the raw, bluesy style of Slash and the rest of the old crew (who other than Slash and Duff, changed a couple times between Appetite and Illusion and beyond). Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Appetite, and Use Your Illusion was very good, but would have been better distilled down into one album as opposed to the filler laden two disc extravaganza. Lies was okay, and Spaghetti Incident was a fucking cover album so IMHO we're only looking at two "real" releases by the band, and it had changed significantly between the two. Not sure why there's so much hating with the new stuff. It's got a few modern bells and whistles here and there, but underneath is 14 ambitious Axl Rose songs, they sure as hell aren't modern/alternative sounding, if anything maybe a bit TOO ambitious. Overall I think it's by far one of the most interesting albums to come out this year and has the potential of becoming a classic. That being said, Appetite already is a classic and I don't think that will change anytime soon. Bottom line, everyone's got the right to an opinion, but only my opinion is actually right... ...kidding, either you like it or you don't, but having listened to the album numerous times I can say without a doubt that Axl put his heart and soul into this. It's up to you whether you like it or not. :-) I think the above gives a perfect description about what Chinese Democracy really is. It's Axl's very own creative input which naturally means the raw Blues and straight forward Hard Rock of the rest of the gang is absent. However what I'd like to add is that I think it lacks some catchyness. I don't see no surefire hit potention ala Paradise City, Sweet Child 'O Mine here noir UYI's You Could Be Mine or Don't Cry even though some songs are close it's basically another level. I do see the other components such as epicness and drama. Overall a pretty good achievement for a solo input, not a big fan of the Industrial attempts though. This one's obviously purely for the fans as there's no promotion or whatsoever.
  10. Obviously, you search around the internet, looking for places to drop yer idol's name to possibly boost sales. More than likely a hired shill, if you haven't figured it out already, you (and Mariah) are considered a complete joke here. Jesus, pal - I couldn't sift through any more of that crap if I were paid to; it's just that fucking gawdawful, piss-poor bad. As for grunge, I hate it with a passion, as much as I despise Ms. Plastic Tits warbling crappola; grunge to me is what you scrape off the inside rim of a toilet - much like what I'd describe as Mariah's contribution to music. And if you can't figure out the Gillette Blue Blade comment was made as a form of exaggeration, then you're stupider than you seem - waaaaaaay stupider. The time I spent researching Mariah's bowel movements masquerading as lyrics were actually a hoot - I've rarely laughed so hard in all my life. Cheese that sloppy is usually reserved for an Arby's melt of some form or another. As for proving my point, I don't have to - the vast majority of people on this site don't give her shitty music the time of day; her fake goombollas are another matter entirely, which should tell you how big of a joke she is. You like her, but many don't - deal with reality, and please quit trying to ram her garbage down everyone's throat. Boy! Are you ever fuckin' stupid! Hah, such closed-mindedness. Don't you see your own comments are biatched? What are you trying to prove or rather what purpose have these posts? Who's throwing garbage to who? It's more like you telling me and everyone else not to like Mariah Carey than vice versa now, isn't it? Nonetheless it's a pretty fun read seeing where you stand only I'd lose the cursing if I were you. You obviously don't know me or could ever understand me with such prejudical attitude. For the record, I ain't got no idols. It's always been just me and my very own guideline. Conclusion not everything's based on shallow boxing being your everyday typical cliche stereotype listener. As I said I know exactly where you stand, discussion closed. But if it's any comfort, I hate Grunge with a passion just as much, probably more than you so rather than mindless argueing about stuff we disagree on we could actually team up making a stand against Alternative. However judging from your lyrical department that would seem like something you'd be interested in, good to see that is at least not the case so ti sento.
  11. Funny but very closed-minded and also dead wrong. Emancipation ain't her last album by the way, it's E=MC2 plus Mariah Carey debut, Emotions and Music Box are missing. Lots of these songs have in fact different lyrical contents and meaning even though most fit into a love theme. Grunge must be more appealing to you instead. Whining about how depressed you are, about to slit your wrists must be 7th heaven. Yeah, I can categorize just as much. The funny thing is that you spend all this time to type up these big messages about it LOL! Trying to prove your point she's no good which stays subjective no matter what anyway. You don't like her but I do, deal with variety of opinion.
  12. I'm a free spirit who could never be categorized in boxes by the masses living up to their standard. No one ever tells me what to do or what to like. Because I like Rock music it doesn't mean I can't like Pop and vice versa. Because I like the one thing it doesn't mean I can't like the other. I'd like to take my personal best out of the music industry in its entirety, conclusion I ain't no stereotype listener. Me being here telling you my philosophy actually backs that up. E.g. I dislike plenty of Pop myself, I can't stand Justin Timberlake or his contemporaries. But than again I don't like everything in Rock either, the Alternative siding with Grunge etcetera I loath. What you're stating is Pop vs. Rock music in terms of contribution input. But as you already state quite good yourself it's an entirely different market. Yes, Rock in general indeed has another culture than Pop where in most cases all musicians are known to its public. Although when Mariah brings in a household Rock name like Dave Navarro he's getting his public featuring credit. As for my musical judgement I rather resort to the music itself and whether something to my ears sounds good or not. Mariah's a singer-songwriter who writes her own songs from scratch, most of her songs are 80% written by herself with a good 20% of a writing partner which differs a great deal to most of the industry and all its Britneys and Christinas. Even Whitney Houston, another good artist in my book does not write herself where Mariah does. Outside songwriters are credited and thus benefit from the royalties as they have their contribution on black and white. For the recordings session musicians are hired who get their fair share as well. It 's fact Mariah's marketed as a solo artist instead of a band because it's her very own vision and input first of all. That plus the fact Mariah's career is based on her voice more than anything else, her voice is her instrument. The people involved only come in to realize the project's outing. And don't play smart with me with the 2 whole songs out of an entire career thing cause obviously I'm merely stating examples as I don't quite feel like analyzing an entire discography as of now. I do understand your preference though and ain't selling anything here. I once opened a topic to see interest in good fun but this here's not my doing. It's a Kanye West topic created by the other guy remember?
  13. As you're taking on Mariah Carey I can immediately state she's got plenty of other material than your standard lyric or repetitive beat. Kanye yes but Mariah no, wrong example. You just need to look into it a bit better which I'm sure you're not willing to do leaving me with no other conclusion than addressing as cliche prejudicing. She has just as much songs in different genres as she has lyrical content. Sure love remains an important aspect of the music as hate ain't going far either. The exact same goes for a lot of music on this site. They're about love and sexual anthems. But if you want another take in message listen to There's Got To Be A Way which addresses political apartheid issues or even recently Right To Dream talking about a young woman survivng in an abusive world. And as stated above already she has the world in different sounds so what would you like to hear? Pop, Rock, R&B, Dance, Jazz or what? Nothing at all obviously but here you go.
  14. As soon as I saw all this talk that's instantly what I thought of. I was playing pool in his house with my brother up in Forster two weekends ago, listening to the Cher songs on my Ipod. Goddamn we were living the gangster life. well you are rumoured to be a sydney gangster according to the various sites linked nsw police force.. There's no better proof than the corpses stacked up in my garage, just waiting for an empty paddock. hmmm phafas has dissapeared.. what have you done to him? He's in my bedroom, "getting ready". While at it could you do Kanye as well for a moment? He sure as heck deserves a release from this topic and board as a whole LOL! You might want to cut him into little pieces so he'll fit into your freezer though. Singing got the serial killer blues, get the bodies to your dumpster.
  15. Very true, plus lots of different styles. Mariah was never a Hip Hop singer or just another amateur hook girl, always been a Pop artist so therefore she can explode into any direction possible. She has explored in many styles like Pop, Rock, R&B, Dance, Jazz etcetera. You Need Me from her debut was Hard Rock and Someday more Pop/Rock to name a couple of songs that might interest this forum. Mariah Carey - You Need Me Mariah Carey - Someday Now, if you aren't a fan of her singing and never been one there's no way on earth anything will make you like her music but for the open-minded listener I'd say give it a spin once released. Mariah's known as one of the greatest voices ever and the daughter of an Opera singer herself. To combine that voice with good Rock music standard is pure bliss in my book. Haha mate... not sure I'd call 'You need me' hard rock... sounds like Michael Jackson to me... except with a heavily lunged female on vocals. 'Someday' is pop. I don't dislike her voice and would be more than happy to give this mystery AOR disc a go if it is like you say it is. Why not. Okay, fair enough. I kinda expected that but at least some has a Pop/Rock undertone which is my point. But true big chorus catchy AOR might just interest you, even from Mariah Carey it might. But that we shall see once it is in fact put out. I wouldn't sell a Rap tape as AOR so therefore it could never hurt, what purpose has that anyway? Kanye and the like I dislike just as hard myself so there you go. I liked Mariah most when she first came out, for an entire decade there was none of that stuff going on in her music. Only since the late 90's there was some switching to the past late 90's/early 00's generation taste. But the Pop artist she is she can always switch back or at least evolve.

  17. She has 'em alright but just needs to release it on a rarities album. You can look some information up on her Wikipedia page of unreleased material. In 2005 she bought all the rights from Sony so now it's up to her when she's putting them out. An estimate was made sometime around 2010. It's just like the Shania Twain disc which is also on this page where Mariah got the material as well.
  18. Someone's beginning to realize, it was about time huh? LOL! I think you just stated the obvious, I'm one and the same but never what you figured me for in the first place. If I may be so bold to give you a little tip here, never categorize Mariah Carey and Kanye West as the same type of artist. But what can I say, ignorance remains bliss. Even though your current observation would deviate Mariah's a true Pop artist while Kanye just another wannabe rapper. Yes, Mariah explored into the Hip Hop genre and yes she even worked with Kanye at some point but she's in no way definition Hip Hop singer. On the contrary her repertoire varies a great deal in genres of which some do in fact fit the description of this forum. An example for it is a You Need Me of her debut album and lots of rarities in 80's recordings with Fade Away AOR and the like. You bet ya once you hear those releases you'd be adjusting your opinion. And they shall be released on which moment I provide y'all with the ear candy. Smart observation but they're just not playing games. Kanye talks, he doesn't actually make music and that's where I draw the line. The political gimmick does not justifiy his lack of musical output. And the vocoder vocal's just plain bad as he's not a singer noir can he ever sing. I resort to what I said before, he should stick to producing and put out an Electronica album or something in the like. Never what I figured you for What?? Dude I just asked you a simple question nothin more or less..as far as Mariah Carey goes she's a hip hop singer...NOT AOR or even POP...clean the crap outta your ears... The little comment you left on my page, ring any bells? And even if you didn't it's the obvious. Mariah's only a Hip Hop singer in your own divergent opinion which simply remains incorrect. She's a singer/songwriter Pop artist if anything and even has a crossover acoustic Country Pop ballad song she penned with Willie Nelson where she sings and plays guitar currently sent to AC radio. Her current album's Pop as well so shows how much you know but than again what do you know as you haven't looked into anything at all. But look pal, I didn't came here to fight. We both like this Rock music so let's keep it at that as far as we go around here. You don't like Mariah Carey, I do so big deal. I merely addressed you lumping her in with Kanye and the like but understand the type of listener you are.
  19. What a way indeed. This is a Hard Rock forum, actual good music ya know. We're like the antheisis of Crap and Shit Shot meaning we won't hesitate to eliminate while given the next best chance. And we shall prevail, Rock just needs to use Pop music again like they used to in the 80's. Hip Hop's been having it pretty easy past decade as you have nothing to fear from Alternative wussies but us here are a whole different story. The minute we reclaim attitude it's bye bye wannabe crapper no more bitches in the club for you. And don't give me your political crying cause it ain't nothing more but a gimmick. Lyrical content doesn't equal good music, without actual melody it's nothing more but cheap talk. Kanye can try all he wants but in the end he ain't nothing more than a marketing puppet, the sole reason for the anti climax of him hitting #1 over GNR next on. Now GNR isn't promoting, their sales are based on first interest only so I'd say that's pretty darn impressive but Kanye's desperate. As for the music itself I can be very brief. The guy went from rapping to sing through a vocoder over recycled beats from Tears For Fears and the like, enuff said. This actually doesn't only make him worthless but a thief as well in my book. And that's not only Kanye but just about all of them now, isnt it? Just take a look at it, songs stolen from Whitesnake, Van Halen, Toto and the list goes on. Bottom line, Hip Hop's nowhere without us in the first place. We practically own them, we've made them and we shall destroy them again. As an advice for Mr. West I'd say if he's really into AOR why not explore more into that direction? Maybe he can do a little something with Electronica, be a keyboardist, producer or whatever. If you strip down some of his latest outputs that's pretty much where it leads. I'm Confused...aren't you the "Mariah Carey's Gonna release a Hard Rock record" Guy?? Someone's beginning to realize, it was about time huh? LOL! I think you just stated the obvious, I'm one and the same but never what you figured me for in the first place. 21. Thanks mate, I'll spin this tonight. The funny thing about Nickelback is that people fob them off as a ballad band after their success with lighter singles, but some of the stuff on 'All the right reasons' was pretty f*cking heavy for a popular hard rock band. I will never like this guy's voice but if they can keep producing the goods like the last album it's just silly to ignore them. My thoughts exactly. Was never too big on the voice either but I must say Chad's handling it pretty well on this new record, it does fit. And next to it you get some killer tunes right back to the mainstream of course.
  22. Listen here! http://www.youtube.com/user/OfficialNickelback
  23. Right on if you ask me, the typical Mutt sound is all over this. In comparison to Hinder, this one has a little harder edge at times. It's by far my favorite Nickelback album and some of the guitar work including solos are just insane for today's standards.
  24. Maybe we can open up a topic for this one at Hard Rock as well? Just finished listening to the entire album and my calculations turned out to be just about right. The album's downright 80's Hard Rock heaven!
