  1. I listened to balls out again this past weekend which I think is the best sp disc so far, just an all around classic, good songs, 13 tracks plus the cool intro make this a great album without fillers whereas on feel the steel there were tracks I didn't like AS much (f... all nite party all day for example) also couple tracks on the new one I don't love but balls out is just quality from start to finish
  2. Well I will be listening to that one tonight asap! Dudes, I need to be a little bit of a devil's advocate on this one, to be honest. First things first, I really dig the album. If I'm being honest, though, I gotta say it's not quite as good as I hoped, or expected it to be. Is that because my expectations were too high? Indeed, I do think this is the problem. I was expecting a 95% disc and I think this'll be around the 85% mark for me in the end. So in that sense, yes, it is indeed excellent, but I probably did myself in a bit by expecting the world from it. To explain in more annoying depth: 1. It's not as good as 'Address the nation.' To be honest, first impressions suggest I prefer 'ATN' by quite a lot. 2. imo, 'Under your skin' is definitely, without doubt, the best song HEAT have released in 2014. Why is it on that silly EP and not on the disc? 3. 'Shot at redemption' is by far the weakest song on the CD, the EP and one of their weakest songs ever. Why was it released as a single? Why? Anyway, to the positives. 'Point of no return' is a deadset f*cking monster. When I heard it I just said to myself that this is going to be the best CD ever released. Killer tune. I also love 'Inferno' and 'Emergency.' 'Eye for an eye' would be next in line. Unfortunately there's a few tunes like 'Mannequin Show,' 'We Will Never Die,' 'Enemy in Me,' and 'Laughing at Tomorrow' which are all very solid, but not quite as good as I was hoping for, or expecting from HEAT. Seriously, 4 good tunes, but these guys can do better than this. As for the ballads, I like the title track. Great song and probably my 5th favourite on the disc. But 'All the nights.' Gotta say, it's not really working for me. It really, really needed a full band arrangement, imo, and is definitely nowhere near strong enough as a basic piano song. Okay song, but I prefer 'She's like the wind' if we're talking HEAT ballads. To be honest, HEAT are not the best ballad band, and this is again proven here. Anyway, in a nutshell, I love the sound and style of the disc. I love 5 of the songs and think the rest are very strong. I thought it'd immediately be my favourite CD of the year and never even look like being toppled. But I'm not sure. Honestly, I don't think it's quite as good as the new Steel Panther disc. The best songs on the SP disc are better than the best on this disc, imo, and the weakest songs on the SP disc are definitely much better than the weakest tunes on this one. The mid-range tracks are roughly on par. I'd probably give the nod to SP again, just based on the lyrical interest. So yeah, overall, I prefer the SP disc, but this'll probably slot in at 2nd for me. Though, I did really like the States Of Panic disc... this could be as low as 3rd for me already, despite it being a very good album. Anyway, sorry for the novel. Just a few initial thoughts after having this spinning back to back all day today. Same here, although I don't like or dislike the exact same tracks as you do, I don't feel it's a 10/10 album without any fillers or such BTW anyone else feel ''we will never die'' kinda resembles ''black velvet''??
  3. dude thanks, I was gonna ask if anyone had heard that
  4. oh boy, whatever you may think of this guy as a singer... soon as he opens his mouth I just can't take this guy seriously listen to the way he says ''today is the culmination'' at the start of the video should go by Sebastian BLA or Sebastian Bla Bla instead of Bach these days LOL
  5. Despite the feeling I had after hearing the preview, inferno is a ROCKING tune!! And I think he really IS saying ''masturbate'' there's also an F-Bomb in the song, how ''edgy'' LOL. AMAZING guitar solo as well!!
  6. I was singing Bukkake tears all day at work yesterday, so much so that one of the female managers decided to look up what bukkake meant after I told her the title of the song .. ha ha you guys sing around the house or at work???
  7. Comment function disabled on youtube, why do you think that is?
  8. Skid row's subhuman race comes to mind, I usually skip these releases What about bon jovi - these days?
  9. The only bonus track I've seen so far is an acoustic version of an existing song
  10. 1 year from first post till final release of the album, that's fuckin long when you think about it.......
  11. when comparing gold digging whore with gloryhole, you don't think gold digging whore sounds kind of.... ''fuller''?
  12. not saying it's bad, but if you compare the riffs from gloryhole and gangbang at the old folks home to let's say... supersonic sex machine or gold digging whore, you can't deny that it sounds thinner, at least the guitars do there's short snippets (very short, only like 5 seconds or so) of gangbang and gloryhole at the beginning of a few steel panther youtube videos that were uploaded over the last couple weeks (science panther, demolicous etc.) and when I first heard those I thought they were still rough mixes that were gonna get beefed up a little during mixing / mastering (or whatever it's called) in the studio when balls out was released i remember not particularly liking the bigger sound at first, but it became the sound I'm now used to hearing from steel panther, so I guess it'll just take some time to get used to the new songs
  13. I thought it was sort of raw, last album sounded a bit more huge
  14. the sound and production on this one seem a little ''stripped down'' compared to balls out, think I'm gettin used to it though been listening to it for the past two days now. lyrics are HILARIOUS again, BVS, gangbang at the old folks... only feel the last 3 tracks are kind of weak, although she's on the rag has its moments sometimes musically. I predict there's gonna be a lot of singing along to this during this summer
  15. big vagina syndrome is becoming a common disease / ladies who have this affliction are never easy to please
  16. not sure, someone said the second one went something like ''never keep original cds in your car'' so I was just wondering if these were already established, if not we could definitely make up a few ourselves
  17. I hope so man, the three songs have been kind of a mixed bag so far (nice but don't play them very often), hope the songs work better within album context. but yeah, had the first two records on heavy rotation when they came out. what about the guitar work (and tone) glen, good?
  18. guys what's happening, since the release of this one is less than a week away... who's heard anything from the album? haven't heard anything so far other than the 3 singles that were released, what's the deal couldn't find previews anywhere? definitely very secretive about this one, you'd think in this day & age....
  19. Just memorable I guess, each time I play this record I'm reminded of it haha
  20. This topic just reminded me of an amazon review I read a few years back, it's for ''How Long'' by Michael Thompson Band: When this CD first came out, I went to my local cd store to pick it up. I went with my idiot wife (now idiot ex-wife). She pitched a fit that I was going to buy this cd-said we couldn't afford it. We left the cd store and she immediately bought shoes. By the time I could afford to buy the cd, I couldn't find it anymore, so I settled for the cassette tape, which I played until it wore out a few years ago after about 10,000 plays. When I discovered that the cd was in print again, I immediately purchased a copy. The sound is fantastic! Much much better than the sound off the cassette. Listen to this cd LOUD. Then listen to it with headphones. Lots of nuances. The playing is excellant. The bonus tracks are great too! The music sounds as fresh as it did when this cd first came out. This is first rate musicianship!!! There are no weak tracks. Each one is different from the other, yet it is all a cohesive package. I will be playing this cd for years to come. Many years after my idiot ex-wife's shoes have worn out.
  21. started reading this thread, very amusing as I too, have done a fair share of hiding cds or sneeking them past parents, girlfriends etc.... :-) someone mentioned ''commandments of cd collecting'' does this really exist? and if so, what are they?
  22. Doubt it, don't get me wrong, I'd love a reunion of some sort. But as far as I know casey is super busy with his new business venutre he's got going, the singer is back in new zealand, the second guitarist was more into maiden / priest / manowar and thrash anyway....... MAYBE we'll see one of them with a new project, taking a different direction than they did with de la cruz
  23. A shame, but this band was too good to be true, so I'm more than happy with the 2 releases they put out!
  24. only 8 backers, but 211$ pledged which is very good I think. those two songs do sound good I think I'll participate on this one
  25. with kickstarter there's no charge until 100% of the goal is reached. so if the project doesn't reach its goal there's no re-credit of the amount or anything because it was never charged
