  1. wow, is that the pole position that released the self titled in 93?? sounds tight!!
  2. oh boy, they changed the entire lineup except for the lead singer / guitarist (and sort of try to make him a STAR), don't know where this is gonna lead to...... song sounds average (don't care that they're still young) with a not so good guitar solo...... this really makes it look like the singer's dad is trying to make his kid famous, but instead of dragging him to star search or x factor he wants him to ''succeed'' in the rock genre by the time they're in their 20s they'll probably have different interests and give up playing rock music
  3. I much prefer Bangalore Choir's ''Angel In Black'' thought this might be a cover at first....... ... and this is a pet hate of mine. If I were a songwriter I would personally NEVER write a song with a title of a song that already existed; if I knew the song I just wrote was going to be inferior to the song already in existence. I just wouldn't do it. So, to take that one step further, to write a song called 'Angel in black,' which is stupidly inferior to a little song of the same title by a band called Bangalore Choir... but then to get the vocalist of the original song to sing your crabby version of the song with the same title??? Madness!!! I don't understand it. You're basically forcing the listener to compare the two, and it makes the new song sound even worse than it probably is. Anyway, rant over. There should be a worldwide registry of taken song titles. If you can't better what is already used, call your crappy song something else. haha, that's gold Geoff!! went and listened to the previews of this album after seeing this thread because I like reece as a vocalist. unfortunately this is too ''heavy metal'' (the kind of heavy metal I dislike) for me I would have preferred him singing in a more traditional hard rock setup even if he's done that lots of times before. the idea with the taken song titles is good, also happened in the movie biz quite a few times and I keep asking myself, how much longer can they come up with new movie titles (that don't completely suck or that are ridiculously long or weird haha)??
  4. I much prefer Bangalore Choir's ''Angel In Black'' thought this might be a cover at first.......
  5. What about itunes, amazon etc are they on these platforms?? To be honest I'm not too crazy about having to wait for a cdr to ship if I could have an immediate download. And cheaper no less!!
  6. Just got the news that this is gonna be released through demon doll records... You guys got any experience with this label? Only know them from ads on metalsludge and sleazeroxx.com I believe...
  7. Haha, love that this thread turned into a discussion about a completely different band LOL. I will have to check out ''bigger'' then. What's the change like is it similiar to when Talisman changed the sound from their debut on Genesis and Humanimal?
  8. I'm so glad this dude left crazy lixx and made way for adde zata
  9. new music video, here it is: http://www.tape.tv/santa-cruz/videos/wasted-und-wounded
  10. a preview with music is released and the first comment is about the logo LOL no offense just thought I'd share a funny observation about the music....... kind of a mixed bag so far, some tracks (war machine and let's get twisted for example) have a great groove but I'm not sure yet if I will love this like i did with de la cruz. This sounds like a lot of stuff I've heard before from Priest to other bands as opposed to something more unique guess the thing that really made de la cruz was the different influences and inputs from members that went into their songs and ended up sounding like something original, whereas here it's just one guy as for the release date and publisher, nothing has been announced so far...
  11. to be honest I don't think it's gonna be new religion part 2. let me explain why: yes, the sound is a little different productionwise, but what I think will keep this from sounding like new religion are the SONGS. the songs (structures, riffs, solos) from new religion could have been on a hard rock album in the 80s or early 90s and the production really added to this. I find the new songs (riot avenue as well as the new self titled) to be more ''simple'' and kind of contemporary, standard rock. there may be elements of 80s early 90s sound in the new songs, but overall I doubt it's going to feel like a pure 80s release. they can get chris laney back, change the sound, add reverb and gang vocals all they want, the line up as well as the members' mindsets have changed (I mean it's been 4 years since the release of new religion and almost 5 since they recorded which is a long time, so much can happen and people change constantly) I know lots of people WANT this to sound like new religion and maybe got a little too excited or try to create the illusion it's just like new religion because they loved it so much, but in the end I think those people will not be satisfied 100%....... how do you think the band went in to record this, you think they wanted to get back to the older sound because they liked it or because of the sort of negative reaction that riot avenue got from a lot of fans? don't know why just somehow can't help but think they don't REALLY want to be playing 80s ''retro'' kind of music I'll definitely check out the itunes previews when I get the time, 1:30 mins is quite generous and gives a real good idea of a song
  12. preview clips of the entire album are up on amazon (not sure about itunes) anybody heard them? kind of like the vibe on track 3 ''outlaw''
  13. thanks for mentionig the other pole position band (1993, Sweden) great stuff!!
  14. I like it, reminds me of Sink The Pink a little. I'm so glad they announced this shortly before the release itself (only like 2 months) as opposed to naming the release date 6 months in advance or some shit like that, I hate having to wait for albums I'm excited about!!!
  15. yeah, production could be better, I think he recorded everything without any tweaking in the studio afterwards, which is what is done usually to make it sound nice n clean this is maybe slightly above demo quality but I am really starting to like this track, took A LOT of listens though (couple dozen so far) if you haven't seen it yet, he's planning on uploading a free download of a cover he did of an 80s hard rock song (something from 1989 he didn't say which one it was) as soon as his facebook page reaches 500 likes www.facebook.com/catalanokills hit that button if you haven't already
  16. I think it's a bit over the top, I mean these guys are promoting ONE (!!!!!!) song as if their lives were depending on it, if it was an album ok. But I mean come on, this is a single (probably mainly downloads not even physical, yes there probably will be a 7'' single but the market for this is limited) and they are makin us wait for this track for MONTHS. The first time they mentioned this song was well before it made its way into this forum. I like the band and have all their releases also interested to hear what this sounds like, my question is this though: If you embrace the new trend of having singles in between albums as a way of staying relevant and out there (they did release ''We are the ones to fall'' before) to regularly have new material for the fans, you should be a lot faster in doing so, right???
  17. That guitar at the beginning of psycho city sounds cool, lookin' forward to this track just one more month till the album's released......
  18. Listening right now, sounds great! Marcie's voice as good as ever been looking forward to this since news first broke about the new album
  19. Cool track, the opening lines especially struck a nerve ''it takes some time gettin used to this doing it on my own'' however you wanna interpret that.... a lot of emotion coming through during the verses, I just love the guy's singing! Only gripe I have with this is the solo, it's a little unspectacular compared to you know who...... Let's just put it this way, if there wasn't a solo at all it wouldn't really make much of a difference. The lead guitar during the intro is very good though, sounds a lot like RATT I agree
  20. Alright everyone, here's the CATALANO facebook page, give this a like if you can. First song from the debut EP will be released for free download SOON. http://facebook.com/catalanokills
  21. booooooring, somebody (management, parents, whoever) is tryin to make this band out to be much bigger than they are, once the novelty of having a kiddie ''metal'' band is gone there's not much left though. these guys are even releasing a motion picture I mean check this out, it's embarrassing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vghapTSwDhk of course they are still VERY young (15 or 16), if they keep at it they could become a good band 5, 6, maybe 7 years down the road. but as it is now..... no thanks
  22. damn, that rock n roll heart attack song sounds amazing musically! the singer (during the verses especially) sounds like a bad copy of oli herman, and the original oli herman ain't that good to begin with sooooo...... a lil unfortunate but what the hell, I'll check out the album
  23. nice, I'll be buying this but just the download, I don't need a cd with this hideous cover in my home
  24. GREAT find, thanks stefan!! Although the name suggests otherwise (slightly put off by it, but so glad I had a listen) this is not your run-of-the-mill rock band
  25. Sympathy was released as a single only and never meant to be on the new album. Which is a good thing, cause the track STINKS :-) yeah, hell raisin women is cool in the sense that it just hits you straight in the face without warning, after listening to the previews of the other two tracks I've slowly started to like these as well. so bring it on!! not too psyched about heroes are forever (since I generally dislike their debut no matter how hard I try and don't enjoy those tracks live either) but who knows, maybe I'll like the new version
