does anybody know anything about this band? I don't even know how i found out about them but i got a burn of their cd and really like it!

It starts out rockin but has 3 ballads in a row that remind me of D.R.F.S.R. Warrant.. of course, that's just my humble opinion..

any info would be appreciated!

Thanks

These guys are from Southern Minnesota... I see that they've recently changed the spelling of their name to Valentyne as well. I wonder if there were 2 Black Valentines?

I think it may be a different band, which is why the local boys changed their spelling slightly

Some pretty cool songs on that link. Not ground breaking, but cool indie hard rock stuff.

T-Bone,

Thanks for the info! Unfortunately two of the harder rocking tunes aren't on the my space site.

HH Fans: Check out "Dreaming my life away" amd "Don't Quit"..

Good stuff in my opinion.

'Dreaming My Life Away' easily the best song in that lot for me. I'm not sure exactly how to describe the sound or which bands to compare them to, but I really don't like this. I found 'Judges Of Dakota County' and 'Life Is Full Of Broken Roses' hugely irritating, at least the 2 tracks mentioned above were better.

The 4 tracks I listened to were all on that Myspace page, so presumably the same band(?) I haven't listened to any other Black Valentine (yet...)

Just dug out my Black Valentine stuff... Looks like it's the same band... Guess I'll have to go buy their newer stuff. I never knew they were still recording. I'll have to ask them about the spelling change too

I agree with you on the Judges of Dakota County. I didn't like that one either. not sure about the other one. The interesting thing is that song wasn't included on my cdr (no loss) but the opener "Black water" and the second track (not sure of the title) were real good songs but not on the my space site.

    • I thank that may be partially due to his delivery style. He'll read part of a quote/sentence/article, make a pithy remark, lather rinse repeat. So it takes him a while to get through things and for the full point to come across. I think if he cut down his breaks by 50% it would be much more digestable. Still, as Lefties go, he's seemingly got more brain power and common sense than many...
    • New song 'Irreversible'. From Frontiers: 'Irreversible' is a new single from Norway's Big City. The track is from the recording sessions for their most recent studio album, "Testify X", which is out now. Fans of bands such as Firewind, Queensryche, Magnus Karlsson's Free Fall, Europe, Fair Warning, and the like should look forward to being introduced to this exciting band.
    • Yeah mate, that's definitely them through and through. Maybe slightly "ballsier" in recent years, but if you dig that you'll dig their gear.
    • I was meant to see Crazy Lixx too, and it turned into a massive fuck-around. They didn't end up coming to Australia after a massive failed festival event. I think they were still headed here, but it was right at the start of covid and I think that may have been a factor in them cancelling too. Pretty devastating at the time, but thankfully Reckless Love had more testicular fortitude and that was one of, if not my favourite (and as fate would have it, last) concert outing so far.
    • Just heard that 'We unite' song. Not into it, but hoping there's better to come as I like the vocals (of course) and it's a good ballsy sound. Just a terrible chorus.
    • I've just revisited the original and as worthy as the above cover is, the original is perfection.
    • HOLY FUCKING FUCK OF A FUCK!!! One of my favourite songs ever! How did I not know of this KILLER cover!?  I'm not familiar with the album either, I'll have to check it out.
    • Yeah I'm not completely sold on Brand either. He is very intelligent, switched on and an excellent speaker, but I don't connect as much with him as I do others. Watch him every now and then but not subscribed as I'm not overly interested in a lot of his videos.
    • Russell Brand goes on a bit too much about spirituality most of the time for me, and he is very slow to get to the point, compared to someone like, say the awesome Jordan Peterson. I remember when I first saw the Sarah Silverman was dong video blogs, because I thought she was pretty great and funny. And then I saw some, and now I hate her. I hate pretty much everything she says, and I even find it hard watching her movies lol
    • Randy Piper's Animal - Judgement Day. Killer track unfortunately not on youtube.  The start of the chorus says it all.   "I'm here to tell you I'm watching you, I'm watching everything you do, GOD knows, 'cause he asked me to".   Job gets it.
