Bill Cowher's wife passes away. RIP Kaye Cowher

The wife of former Pittsburgh Steelers coach Bill Cowher died Friday in North Carolina after battling skin cancer, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Kaye Cowher was 54.

The former Kaye Young played basketball at North Carolina State where she met Bill, then a linebacker on the football team. She went on to play three seasons in the Women’s Professional Basketball League along with her twin sister, Faye Young.

The Cowhers, who were married in 1981, have three daughters who are accomplished basketball players.

Bill Cowher spent 15 years at the Steelers head coach before resigning in 2006. He currently serves as an NFL analyst for CBS.

Kaye Cowher was a member of the North Carolina State Board of Visitors, an honorary body that advises the chancellor and board of trustees.

That is sad. R.I.P. I remember watching her in the stands when they went to their first Super Bowl with Bill at the helm. Seems like yesterday.
