Mad Max debuted on the German metal scene in 1982, delivering a brilliant combination of hard rock and heavy metal. Throughout the years the band managed to record eight full-length albums and one EP, with each release proving their amazing musical skills. This exclusive set of re-released early Mad Max albums - "Mad Max", "Rollin' Thunder", "Stormchild" and "Night of Passion" - brings back one of the most underrated German rock legends ever to walk the face of this planet...

 

"Mad Max"

Their self-titled debut album was released in 1982 (and reissued by Roof Music in 1983), presenting nine dazzling tunes inspired by old school hard rock and heavy metal.

 

"Rollin' Thunder"

The group's second full-length album (and first for Roadrunner Records) saw the light of day in October 1984, instantly gaining a lot of success on the European rock scene. As the LP received more and more excellent reviews, the label decided to release it in the U.S.A. "Rollin' Thunder" was eventually picked "album of the year" by the American heavy metal magazine Iron Planet.

 

"Stormchild"

Mad Max released their third LP in 1985, showcasing a great musical progression. The album received great reviews in the British music press (especially in Kerrang!) and soon the band decided to organize a small tour across the UK. The tour turned out to be a great success, ending with a sold-out show in London's Marquee Club. New edition includes a bonus track.

 

"Night of Passion"

Re-release of their fourth studio album from 1985. The album proved to be a very valuable work and once again the band met with warm reception from critics and fans (the LP was in the Top 10 of Germany's best selling rock albums). New edition includes a bonus track.

 

Metal Mind Productions will re-release Mad Max's albums on 9th November in a new digipak edition, each limited to 2000 copies. Digitally remastered using 24-Bit process on a golden disc.

I feel your pain bro but all things considered, they are still high quality reissues. And much better than the cdr's I have of the early stuff.

I only have the Lillian Axe metal mind reissues and while I love the quality of the cd and it is way better than the cdrs I had I do hate the digipack part of it. However it seems that almost all bands/labels are starting to go to this cheaper material.

I think Ozzy did that with 'Black Rain' to, but I didn't buy either because I thought the music sucked.

 

I even notice now at Walmart there's so many labels that are issuing their bands older greatest hits in digipacks but at lower price points of $5-$8. I've seen this for Skid Row(Best of Skid Row), Def Leppard(Vault), Foreigner(Very Best and Beyond) and many others. I don't mind it as much as long as they lower the prices but as you said most of the time it's the same prices. The worst is the new Ace Frehley 'Anomaly' release. I'm a huuuuuge Ace fan and I love the music on the disc and I appreciate the unusualness of the packaging that folds into some type of coffee table decoration but what do you do with the f#@king disc? I pulled mine out with the insert and put it in a new jewel case. If I could just get an copied front and back insert I'd probably just keep in that way.

It pops up on Evilbay every once in a while, from what I've read it's not very good.

 

One that is a must have is White Sands, get it before it goes OOP.

I did e-mail METALMIND about my dislike of the Digipack.

They e-mailed me back to ask what releases am I looking for, which I said about 10 to 12 releases.

They e-mailed me back saying it will take about 8 or 9 months for them to come out in regular jewelcases...

Yup as is the new Journey, Kiss and Foreigner.

What do they have in common you migh ask? All Wal-Mart only releases.

However with all of them(except the AC/DC) being 3 disc releases the digi-pack might of been the only choice for the band/label.
