The story of the groundbreaking '70s female rock group the Runaways is recounted in this River Road Entertainment production focusing on the duo of guitarist/vocalist Joan Jett (portrayed by Twilight's Kristen Stewart) and lead vocalist/keyboardist Cherie Currie (Dakota Fanning) as they navigate a rocky road of touring and record label woes under the malevolent eye of an abusive manager during their teen years. Acclaimed video artist Floria Sigismondi directs from her own script. ~ Jeremy Wheeler, All Movie Guide

Looking forward to this one. This one was done with the help of Joan Jett.... It has been over 20 years since Joan has had anything to do with The Runaways. A few years ago there was a pretty good movie released about The Runaways called "Edgeplay: A Film About The Runaways". "Edgeplay" was put out by Victory Tischler-Blue (Viki Blue) who was briefly a member of the Runaways. Though Lita Ford and Sandy West (RIP) appear and are interviewed for the movie.. Joan Jett wanted nothing to do with it. It is kind of sad because all throughout the movie it was evident that Sandy never got over the breakup of The Runaways. When this was filmed she knew she was dying of cancer and you couldn't help but feel her pain. Years back there was talk of a Runaways reunion tour and Sandy was heartbroken that this never happened. Check out this movie if you get the chance. Even if you are not at all a fan of The Runaways this movie will appeal to any fan of rock music.

As far as the new movie... It should be great. I'll be picking up a copy of this one the first day it's out. It's been in the works for a couple of years and is suppose to be a really in depth look at The Runaways.

BTW ~ My favorite song ever is a song by The Runaways... "Waitin' For The Night".
