Wow.... where in the fuck have I been? I've heard of these guys for many years but for one reason or another, I never really got around to ever listening to them. After the great reviews on here for "Pandemonium", I remember checking it out once and wasn't blown away by it. So I don't think I ever played it again. After watching the video for the new song, I gave the new disc a spin. Holy fucking shitballs, this is one fucking awesome disc. I love just about every track on here!! "Motherland" kicks all kind of ass. So now, I must find "Pandemonium" and re-check it out. To me, "Motherland" blew me away from the first play, something "Pandemonium" did not.

    My "Motherland" ratings:

    1. Mother Of All Lies 8.5/10

    2. To Fool A Nation 8.5/10

    3. Confession --/--

    5. Sad To See You Suffer 8.0/10

I think overall Ratt has a stronger catalogue. Live though, Kix absolutely wipe their asses with Ratt. Zero comparison, 99.999999% of the reason being the travesty that is Stephen Pearcy.

And, with all of Ratt's songs that are "better" than Kix's, the song "Cold Blood" (from Kix, in case someone is out of the loop) is one of my favourite songs ever. The intensity and the hook in the B section through to the chrorus in that song almost makes your spine bleed. I cannot turn that song up loud enough.

Fuck no you cant, cause I dont know if theres any amps out there that are powerful enough to amplify that album, now think of if it had crystal clear, precise mastering done to it, OMG, now you've got my attention, it's kind of like a chick getting in bed, and you and your buddy are naked waiting for her, you got a rock hard cock, and your buddy is flaccid and limp, sure maybe she will put up with your buddy, after she's done with you, that's the way I compare poor production, to good production, and Mullethead, I really only thought there were 2 fillers on Hot Wire, I wouldnt exactly call Boomerang, and Piece Of The Pie not fillers, but that production was bad even for 1988, listen to Appetite, that was in 87 wasnt it? it still stands up today, Y&T Contagious that was in 87, and that fucking smokes still today, so I think it was just bad production, and I think they would do us all a gigantic service taking a month or so, and remastering Blow My Fuse, fuck I cant even imagine what that would be like, if it sounded optimal, can you?

I would say Hot Wire has about 4-5 fillers. Boomerang is not that great but I love Piece of the Pie. As mentioned Cold blood is their best song. Blow My Fuse, Don't close your a Eyes can't be denied. Appetites production is steller, no doubt. I don't hear anything wrong with kix BMF production. In fact , coming from a huge Y & T fan, contagious is a great album with muddy production.

Hot Wire comes out and fucking rocks, what compares to Girl Money?? I'm talking about rocking wise, think about it, nothing on bmf comes at you like Girl Money?? and Bump The La La, they just stepped it up a notch on Hot Wire, OK, I'm not going to argue with you and try to tell you theres a better song then Cold Blood on Hot Wire, cause theres not a better song then Cold Blood on any other Kix album, its easily their best song ever, thats a fact, when does it actually ever pull it's zipper down, and let it's balls out rock?? Same Jane gets your foot thumping and doesn't stop,if we were having this debate over Show Business, It wouldn't even still be being talked about, WTF? does nobody else understand what im trying to get at here? maybe I'm just a poser, and need to go walk my ass into on coming traffic? maybe Hot Wire is only liked by queers, and posers, and I just exposed myself? IDK, Contagious is far Superior to Blow My Fuse production wise, I wish you could somehow listen in my room right now, to the difference, as I flip back and forth between L.A. Rocks, and No Ring Around Rosie, not even in the same ballpark.

Okay buddy, balls in my court now right lol. Here is my honest opinion on Kix and HW. The only two albums I can stand from them are BMF & HW, I just happen to think HW is not near as good. Here is my simple breakdown:

    1. Hot Wire - Crap 2. Girl Money - Excellent 3. Luv-a-holic - Crap 4. Tear Down the Walls - Excellent 5. Bump the La La - Excellent 6. Rock and Roll Overdose - Crap 7. Cold Chills - Excellent 8. Same Jane - Excellent 9. Pants on Fire (Liar, Liar) - Crap 10.

Hee Bee Jee Bee Crush - Crap

So half excellent, half crap. In my opinion, that doesn't make for a great album.

As for Contagious, coming from the worlds #1 Y&T fan, I LOVE the album and I don't mind the production but as I said before, while BMF production is paper thin, it is also crystal clear.

And no, you're not queer. Unless that's your thing buddy :)

    Peace!

    JL

PS - On topic, either way Ratt is better by so many miles it's not even close.

Good enough for me, so how bout that new shit by 50 cent?

I wouldn't wipe my ass with rap or hip hopity hop...but I think you know that ;)

I wouldn't have axed that question to anyone else here, LOL, I just realized I was arguing with someone, about something, that is completely asinine, I shouldn't be arguing with a fellow metal head, over 2 legendary bands, that really has no point in being argued about, I was being stupid, I should be arguing with an ignorant lemming, with no musical taste, about shit music known as CRAP(or Rap), I was more or less apologizing with irony, get it now?

No arguing here brother, friendly debating as always. Keeps things exciting :)

Enjoy BOTH bands my friend ;)

I just saw Tony at Skull Fest and it hurts me to say that he was a dick on stage. It was great to hear him sing and he even did a Westworld song too but he seemed to be to annoyed with people at the bar watching the football game and not paying attention to him.

He did announce that there is a new Westworld album in the works which is great but without Mark Reale I'm not sure they should call it Westworld IMO.

Do you mean that Cody is right? Tony is a dick?
That's interesting, considering he came across as a genuine and humble guy on the MOR Cruise. Sometimes you just have bad days.
He Wasn't A Jerk To Me But Was Angry From The Stage And Was Constantly Saying ShiTty Things To The Audience.

What did he say? I'd be pissed too if people were watching football. Not saying he should be a dick about it but I think he comes across that way because he is very serious about his art. No such much like Geoff Tate.

I was there at Skull Fest as well. First of all the guy was performing in a road side bar... not a theater. Second, the guy was in Western Nebraska (Broncos' Country) and the game he wanted turned off was the Broncos/Colts game. Third, 20 other bands played and none of them had made this request. Fourth, he followed Faster Pussycat.. so all the riff-raff was cleared out of the main audience area. The people that wanted to enjoy him were listening. He didn't need to be a douche to us.

Ah I knew there was a catch. It was Broncos fans :)

  6.

So better than it looks on paper; excellent. I'm going to have to stay up one night and watch a Chiefs game sooner or later...

You don't want to watch the next two as we will be 9-0, then they have a bye week. Tune in 4 weeks from now with a showdown with Denver!

Denver will lose at least once to KC and you know I'm a Denver fan so thats not easy for me to say. Our D is suspect and our WR are having issues with seperation the last few weeks and we have major injury issues on the O line and it is affecting pass protection big time.

I agree but I still don't want to play Denver. I also can see us stumping our toe at Buffalo next week.

  10. Only team still unbeaten, aren't they? Although a very narrow win against a pretty average team at the weekend. How are they playing?

Playing down to a bad team is common in the NFL but they still figured it out. QB with no tape other than college. We prepared for them to protect him and run so we played the run and Houston was clever enough to pass first.

Not to mention, we avoided the win one for the skipper crap with Bum Phillips death. It is an impressive win IMO.

Cleveland next at home the to the Bills for an away game. The Bills have always beat us even when they are bad so we will see....

I really do love them both, and as far as a collective body of work goes, Ratt has them, but as far as I'm concerned Kix CD Hot Wire is probably one of the finest discs ever produced in history, I have just always thought it was so much more talented and well done then it ever received credit for, and I just think it's a phenomenal disc.

Was def a good album but for me their masterpiece was Blow My Fuse. Love it!

No Mullet, that was an absolutely fucking awesome album, my problem with it, and I noticed this even when it was released (and I was only in 5th grade) do you notice the fact it sounds like they decided "fuck it" we will just skip the mastering process all together and release it as is? yeah maybe if they took some time, threw the masters in and mastered the fuck out of it, it would give it a whole new dynamic, because on top of that, it really wasn't recorded that well to begin with, the complete opposite is the case with Hot Wire, where you put it on and the songs just pour into you, you hear everything, from the instruments, to Steves awesome rasp, thats my deciding factor in all of this, and almost everything I listen to, probably not the case with very many of you, as far as songs go, individually, I dont believe Kix can hold a comparison to Ratt, IMO not many bands in history can, but thats just what I think.

The production was thin but not bad, like a lot of things released in 1988. Hot Wire def has great production but it's far from filler free.

Pearcy cannot even compare to Whiteman stage wise..

You take away Ratt's flashbombs and you got nuthin'.

That is true, Steve rules live, but when you take away Ratt's flashbombs you still have Warren.

I think Warren is the most over-rated guitarist (well there's Joe Perry) in the hair metal genre. I prefer Robbin Crosby's solos in Dancing Undercover.

    I'd go with KIX.

    Did you like Detonator?
