While in the car yesterday:
Meat Loaf: Welcome To The Neighbourhood
Rush: Test For Echo
ZZ Top: Rhythmeen
Queen: The Miracle
-
I've seen the trailers, and I've listened to my friends getting over-excited about the whole thing ... but having already had my childhood memories trampled all over by George Lucas, his un-necessary tinkering with Episodes IV, V and VI, and the travesty of Episodes I, II and III, I reckon I'll wait until this comes out on DVD ...

Yeah, I don't know enough about the game, but the impression I got here in Australia was that the Aussies were far from any kind of force in the international game, at the moment. I feel like every time I hear an international result, they are losing comfortably, unless it is against one of the lightweights. I can't remember the Aussies beating New Zealand at any time for about the last 20 years or so.
I'd have thought England and Australia would be a pretty even match up, with the home advantage going to England? But I'm probably out of the loop, I guess.
My Mum is Welsh, my dad is English, so I've got a foot in both camps ...
I think England will go into the game with a point to prove after the lambasting they've had since the weekend (mind you, if the call to kick to the corner had worked as well as it did for Japan, everyone would be falling over themselves to sing Robshaw and Lancaster's praises!) If England tighten up on the discipline, it could be too close to call.
I don't think Wales can keep going for too much longer with their injury list growing ever longer by the minute. If they lose anyone else to injury on Thursday, their final game against Australia could prove to be academic!

Nightwish: Endless Forms Most Beautiful
Damn Yankees: Don't Tread
Fish: Feast Of Consequences
Marillion: Holidays In Eden
Sammy Hagar: Ten 13
Counting Crows: August And Everything After
Zyklon: World Ov Worms

Yeah, hate the game but I like world cups of stuff. I'm pretty annoyed that there's no real free-to-air coverage here in Australia (aside from a couple of 1:30am and 4:30am matches) and it's all on pay-TV. Very annoying.
But yeah, seemed like a crazy result. Georgia beat Tonga too, hey?
Yup - most of the results have been fairly predictable (with the exception of England v Wales at the weekend), but there have been some fantastic games so far, with the 'smaller' teams showing a lot of skill and determination

I don't enjoy festivities/spectacles which promote nationalism.
Then you should watch rugby ... I've never seen any trouble at a rugby match - the fans all sit together (and generally drink together afterwards.) During the recent RSA v Namibia game, the 'boks fans were on their feet cheering as Namibia went over for a try (shame it was disallowed) ...
-
Haven't seen the former but the latter Legend is excellent
Never even heard of this newer one. I do like Tom Hardy, so I'll look into it.
He plays the Kray twins ... and does a pretty good job, too.
-
Legend (the recent Tom Hardy film about the Krays - NOT the Tom Cruise/Tim Curry fantasy-flick )
-
Yeah, yeah - I KNOW there are very few rugby fans here, but I just had to post something about Japan's stunning victory over South Africa at the weekend ... with the winning try coming in the very last play of the game.
RSA have won the World Cup twice, and were ranked 2nd in the world at the start of the tournament ... Japan have never progressed beyond the Pool stages, and were ranked about 14th in the world ... it was a thing of beauty, seeing the faces of the 'Boks players and supporters as the final whistle went

Poor grammar. Does this really piss you off? Do you silently weep for death of the English language daily as you read your Facebook newsfeed? What the HELL do they teach in school these days? The your/you're, there/their/they're, to/too/two, and where/ware/we're misuses?
It drives me up the wall ...
THEY'RE over THERE with THEIR parents (or something similar) ... it's not f**king rocket science!!
Jeez!!
*and breathe ... and breathe ... and breathe*

Twister 2.0, I mean Into the Storm.
Yes it is an absolute rip of Twister.
I watched that the other day ... didn't they even manage to squeeze in a 'flying cow'? Or did I imagine that?

Anyone else looking forward to the soon to be released Mad Max movie....
It's a pity that the advertising posters went with calling Hardy's character 'Mad Max', instead of simply 'Max' (or even, God forbid, 'Max Rockatansky') ... it's a small thing, I know, but it irritated me ...
-
A 'southpaw' is a left-handed boxer
Yeeah I got that.
For me it was kinda lame before I turned the movie on, and it was a bit too much "Rocky"
What then confused me was that there seemed to be only one very small reference to southpaw in the movie, and it seemed irrelevant to the movie, let alone being the name of the movie...
It's probably all they were left with ... every article I've ever read about the film just bangs on about how Jake Gyllenhaal had to bulk up for the role ...
*SPOILER ALERT* ... a quick look on Wikipedia suggests that the film takes its title from the punch thrown at the end ... so now we know ...

I haven't really listened to Dokken properly since 'Erase The Slate' (let's ignore 'Shadowlife') ... like Geoff, I'm not convinced that this would result in anything worthwhile - but wouldn't it be great if the band pulled something magical out of the hat?

Tattooed Love Boys WERE awful (their lead singer now runs a hair salon not far from where I live) ... Rock City Angels are/were Yanks, mate
I LOVE the first Wildhearts album ... nothing they've done since comes close ... I've seen Thunder, but never gave their albums much of a chance (how foolish I was), but Skin were hugely over-rated!
