  1. Grey suggested to make a new thread for this one and I agree.

    Here's the press-release:

The release date for KORITNI's new studio album WELCOME TO THE CROSSROADS is now confirmed for Monday 12th March through Verycords / Warner Music France. Distributors and release dates for specific territories will be announced shortly. Five years on from the Lady Luck debut album in January 2007, Welcome To The Crossroads will be Koritni’s third studio album.

The new album pictured here features artwork illustrated by Mark Wilkinson, who already worked on some previous releases (Game Of Fools, Red Live Joint, No More Bets).

The band also reunited with long-time engineers Mike “Fraze” Fraser, Dan Leffler and Dean Maher to record & mix the album throughout 2011 at various locations like Megaphon Studios in Sydney, Hipposonic or the Warehouse Studios in Vancouver. Once again after his work on Game Of Fools, Ryan Smith performed the Mastering at Sterling Sound, New York.

For the first time in Koritni history, a few special guests were asked to take part of the project, and they kindly agreed. So it is with honor the band can announce that Jeff Scott Soto (WET, Journey), Jeff Waters (Annihilator) & Rusty Brown (Electric Mary) will be featured on the album.

The full tracklisting for the album (total running time 50:37) is:

    01. Down At The Crossroads (4:18) featuring Jeff Scott Soto

    02. Better Off Dead (3:49) featuring Rusty Brown

    03. Party's Over (3:34)

    04. Now A Word From Our Sponsors (0:31)

    05. TV's Just A Medium (4:13) featuring Jeff Waters

    06. Lost For Words (3:50)

    07. Sydney In The Summertime (4:03)

    08. Sometimes (6:58)

    09. Money Talks, It Says Goodbye (4:15)

    10. Let's Go Crazy (3:22)

    11. Hold On (6:42) Electric version

    12. Take It Like A Man (5:00)

One of my favourite new bands out there and definately one of my most anticipated albums this year.

A download of their first single "Down at the crossroads" is available here

I picked up 'Game Of Fools' last year, and was pleasantly surprised by just how good it was ... reckon I'll be picking this one up, too. Oh, yes :)

  2. Ive been praising these guys for at least a year, love the new cd..if you are into these guys check out a band called Mustasch

I like Volbeat - a mate of mine got me into them last year - but Mustach? I can't take 'em seriously with a name like that, sorry ...

  3. Vinny Appice will do drums I imagine.

I can't see Sharon letting Vinny Appice within a mile of the Sabbath drum stool, what with him being involved with the Dio-era, an' all ... my money would be on Mike Bourdin.

So much for the over-hyped return of the original line-up ... I just wonder how long it will be before poor ol' Tony pulls out to preserve his health and Zakk Wylde steps in ...

  4. Looks like I'm not the only one who prefers the look of Sunday. Very good line up imo, whereas Saturday doesn't interest me at all. I really want to go, but I think the tickets sell out quickly, don't they? If they do I will miss out, as I won't have the money for a ticket for at least 6 weeks.

I'm with you when it comes to Sunday ...

We need a plan, mate ... and not one of our usual pathetic efforts :D

  5. Every Mother's Nightmare - Walls Come Down (s/t)

Yeah, I'm with you on this one ... I remember reading a review when the album came out, suggesting it was the best thing since sliced bread ... 'Love Can Make You Blind' is okay, but 'Walls Come Down' stands head and shoulders above the rest of the songs on there ...

A couple of others that spring to mind are 'Shotgun Sally' from Cats In Boots' first album and 'Pieces Of The Bottle' from Johnny Law's S/T album ...

'Kicked and Klawed' is a classic sleaze attack, not only 'Shotgun' but many other interesting things inside, definitely not one song album, and this album even got remastered twice by Rock Candy and Demon Dolls :D

At the risk of sounding harsh, there are plenty of albums out there that have been re-issued and remastered - it doesn't mean they're any good :) That said, I always thought that I SHOULD like 'Kicked And Klawed' more than I did ... so perhaps I should give it another go? :D

  6. If you don't like these tracks you aren't a fan of classic Van Halen. Eddie and Alex smoke on this one. Wolfgang might not be able to hit the notes like Mike did, but his bass playing is great. I'm one happy boy scout, loving it!!! (This should have been a quote from an earlier post - d'oh!)

I AM a fan of classic Van Halen - and as good as Eddie's playing might be (and I agree, in places it IS good), the songs just don't stand up when compared to the rest of their back catalogue (the appalling VH3, aside.) Will people be going to hear the new material when they tour? Somehow, I doubt it ...

  7. Wow, Van Halen ARE causing a stir............who'd have guessed ;-))

The sad part is, reading this thread is more entertaining than listening to their new album... :gone:

You're right. I was really looking forward to this album, but what I've heard so far just disappoints .... a bit like the two 'new' tracks with DLR that they added to their 'The Best Of ...' CD ... we were promised the moon and the stars, and got neither. Obviously, this makes me some sort of heretic in certain quarters, but I've loved this band for over 25 years, and my view is that their just tarnishing their reputation.

I look forward to being proved wrong.

  9. There are probably four (possibly five) Van Halen albums that would make it into my ‘All Time Favourites’ list ... I saw them at Wembley in 1993 and 1995 (when they showed Bon Jovi how it should be done), and I've heard the original songs that some of these 'new' tracks are based on ... but what I've heard of the new album just sounds turgid to me - more like songs that DLR rejected from his last (proper) solo album (which I actually liked), or like the rubbish they put out with Gary Cherone ... how the mighty have fallen :crying:

  10. Vinnie Vincent Invasion.

    What. The. Fuck?

I agree totally. I liked him in KISS, but VVI was a total wankfest. The second album was even worse than the first.

THANK YOU!!! That's what I've been tryin' to tell these frickin people for years now!!

You are both wrong. Carry on then... :bananamac:

Read something the other day about how he's re-recording the second album ... let's hope he makes a better job of it this time!

  11. My mate James (JamesEagle as he is on here) has been pestering me to join this forum for ages ... so here I am! Now when we're arguing the merits (or otherwise) of a particular band, we'll both know other people who think like we do :D

Currently listening to Van Halen's 'Fair Warning'. Oh, yes ...

  12. I've always liked Dokken, and was lucky enough to see 'em in '88 (supporting AC/DC). A friend of mine saw Dokken a couple of years ago - without George Lynch or Jeff Pilosn. He said it was just embarrassing ... if the three are working together without Don, the results could be worth a listen ...

  13. Bangin' is definitely one of my all-time favourite albums ... been a fan since I first heard 'Your Love' all those years ago (although they'd dropped off my radar a bit in recent years.) Good to know they're still around! :D
