  1. Yup, I was thinking this the other day. They're not even comparable to most synthwave really.
  2. Listening now. Seems to be a little more uptempo and rocking than the debut, not necessarily a qualm, just an observation. More guitars. Caroline and Hotel Crowne are the best tracks. I'm Still On Your Side is skippable. I'm a tad underwhelmed, honestly.
  3. The prog community fucking loves them but they're a bit too noodly in their approach for me, which is odd because I'm a huge Yes fan. Maybe I'll give them another shot because the only album from them I've heard is Rites at Dawn.
  4. Messing with them is fun. Robocalls are much more annoying and invasive to me. Believe it or not there is a hobby dedicated to screwing with scammers called "scambaiting." I highly recommend looking up Kitboga, Jim Browning, Hoax Hotel, and Scammer Revolts on YouTube, it's oddly entertaining stuff...
  5. Just the higher-ups massaging their own egos. I agree, it's pretty cringey.
  6. Listening now. I like it. It's solid. They wear their influences - Def Leppard and Danger Danger, in particular - on their sleeves, but it's youthful and well-produced so it doesn't sound THAT derivative. It doesn't blow my mind but I definitely don't dislike it. I still think this singer is much better than the previous one. EDIT: Two things I don't like. The guttural vocal at the end of Moonshine Bayou (wtf was that?) and the opening keyboard riff to Paralyzed that we have all heard 100000000 times.
  7. 12 year old me likes this topic.
  8. motherFUCKER please don't let ADV ruin this project too...
  9. I think the song is amazing. It sounds HUGE which is just what this band should be aiming for. Goofy video though lol.
  10. Listened to it a few times already. Not a skippable track on the album. Of course, it helps when most of the songs are three and a half minutes, but still. This does seem a little closer to straight-up synthpop than their previous albums, but the songs are great anyway so I don't really care. I'm not sure what it is, songs like Freefall and Lights Out don't have that dreamy vibe. They do have the trademark driving rhythms and incredible female vocals that this band is known for though. Good album, as expected. Can At 1980 top it?
  11. Yup, definitely a great summer for synthwave.
  12. Stumbled upon this today. Vocals sound similar to Kreator's.
  13. I don't know if this is the right place to post this, so my apologies if it isn't. But the band Star Chase is listed twice in the HH database: once as Star Chase and again as Starchase. https://heavyharmonies.com/cgi-bin/band.cgi?BandNum=8211 https://heavyharmonies.com/cgi-bin/band.cgi?BandNum=7089 One has two albums and the other only has one. I hope it isn't a big ask to fix this.
  14. Rush - Power Windows Anathema - Distant Satellites Steve Roach - Structures From Silence Hammock - Chasing After Shadows... Living With The Ghosts Sigur Ros - Valtari
  15. I went back and listened to their last couple recently. Life was decent. Had a couple good songs and a nice guitar tone. Human Nature was completely forgettable. So you're right, it won't be hard lol. I liked Danger Zone though!
  16. Yes. Please get Dennis Ward back on this. I'll listen to anything Harry sings, but First Signal is one of the few Frontiers projects I legitimately still have respect for so it would be a real gut punch if they throw this one down the shitter too.
  17. Really talented dude. I hope this album is a success. Also, sort of off-topic but...anyone else notice that Degreed gets very little love on the Heavy Harmonies main page? Several of their albums have no comments at all. That's strange.
  18. Song of the year? This is so fucking good!
  19. I know this isn't what anyone in this topic is looking for, but I always thought the first couple Korn albums had a lot of funk influence. I remember one of those guys categorizing their music as "aggressive funk" or something like that.
  20. Agreed on this. For me it's 1. Stereo Messiah 2. Kiss of Life 3. What The Hell And then the rest, all of which are good, but not at that level.
  21. Great production on the guitars and drums, they both sound really punchy. I think the only thing I don't like is the distortion on the higher-register vocals. Hope that's only for this song and not the entire album.
