  1. It appears the Raw Thorns tracks pre-date the self titled debut: "The band again returned 2 Blighty 2 support Skin's British tour in November of 1994, but I bloody missed that! It was during this period that a second Crown of Thorns album was released. Dubbed 'Raw Thorns; The Unreleased Demos' it was exactly what it said on the cover - previously unreleased demos (excluding of course, the 3 that appeared on that summer's EP CD)." "The sound was indeed very raw. Real demos. With a sprinkling of ballads in the mix, 'Raw Thorns' contained some real rock out tracks such as 'Feel My Thunder' and 'Little Stone House'. According 2 the liner notes "The songs embodied on this CD are 12 track unreleased demos prior to the recording of the first Crown of Thorns CD, much of this expereince as inspiration has helped to make Crown of Thorns what they are becoming today..." The album itself was produced and engineered by Jean Beauvoir with Jean taking up the task of all drums, guitars, bass and vocals throughout, with cohort Micki Free helping out lyrically and playing all lead guitars. Once again Paul and Gene get a thank you, probably due 2 the fact they were involved in the project at this early stage."
  2. Well that was forgettable! Ian Astbury sounds like he wants to be Jim Morrison in places!
  3. I agree 4k is a noticeable improvement picture wise. What i don't know is whether there are any audible benefits.
  4. Well if you don't know for sure Geoff then no one does! :-)
  5. I'm re-listening to the Crown of Thorns albums and every time i run through Raw Thorns i'm surprised at how good some of the tracks are. Does anyone know the story behind them? were they destined for an album that was never to be. I'd loved to have heard some of them with a proper production. Never Enough is a fantastic tune!
  6. How cool is that? small world eh? Do you know if Erik Zan recorded anything?
  7. Cool, are you Lincs based or from somewhere in Lincs? I was a bit young to know Dean back in the day, either that or too uncool! Although they were all out and about in the Vaults and Lazers back then. I've not heard of Tamar but i do remember a heavier band called Erik Zan (sp?). I'd like to hear what they sounded like, they pretty extreme as far as i remember.
  8. Did you see them back in the day? I grew up just outside Lincoln and caught a few of their shows. I'm planning on clearing out the garage attic this summer and hope to come across the CD to go in the case. The mp3's i listened to a few months ago were ripped from that CD. I remember it sounding much better in 1992
  9. Vain are great, loved the first album and Enough Rope although not as good is pretty close
  10. They are a previous band of Dean Fox from Knock Out Kaine
  11. Well i've found the case but i've no idea why there isn't a CD in it I'm sure it would turn up if i looked through all of the dozens of boxes in the attic which at the moment i don't want to do after spending an hour finding just the case!! The picture on the inside of mine has five members in it.
  12. I still haven't gotten around to digging out the copy i know is somewhere packed away. I wonder which version i have.
  13. The missus is a massive fan of James so she's got an autographed and numbered copy on pre-order and she thinks she was the first to order one so is hoping it will be number 1
  14. That is a very good point But doesn't Bach have more of the channeling notes to hit in the classics compared to Neil?
  15. From what i've seen of Seb's appearances at places like Download his voice is shot. Will a reunion gig by any good?
  16. Heard this yesterday. Loner is a great track but unfortunately it goes down than the pan from then on. Loner has made my fav track list though but i won't listen to any of the other tracks again.
  17. Heard this last night. I like the sound, it's just a shame the song writing isn't as good.
  18. The guitar work in those Buckethead tracks is top notch. I'd not heard the acoustic version to that Avril track before and it was on a compilation released last year and i really liked it but i'm not sure when it was originally released. Care of Night, Santa Cruz, Art Nation, Revolution Saints and Station are either too busy sound wise or just don't have that magic something to make my ears go wow. They haven't got bad tracks on them, they just haven't got great ones either to my ears. 2014 had a few gems that got added to my fav's. Adrenaline Mob, Ammunition, Amaranthe, Anti-Mortem, A Breach of Silence, Buckethead, Enabler, Eye of the Enemy, Fate Control, H.E.A.T., Rodrigo Y Gabriela, Slash, Tainted Nation and Toseland. I don't think my ears are adjusting to the way modern melodic rock is being recorded nowadays
  19. Ok looking through what has been mentioned above i haven't the heard the following yet: 1. Eclipse 2. Cats in Space 3. Degreed 4. ISSA 5. C.O.P. (although it is on my player for this week) 6. Find Me Heard but didn't think much of: 1. Def Leppard 2. Art Nation 3. Station 4. Care of Night 5. Halestorm 6. Revolution Saints 6. Santa Cruz
  20. I didn't hear a lot in 2015 that made my fav's list 1. Adrenaline Mob - All on the Line (Acoustic) 2. Avril Lavigne - Wish You Were Here (Acoustic) 3. Battatrox - Raised In Pain 4. Buckethead - Project Little Man 5. Buckethead - The Moltrail Part 2 6. Buckethead - Phantom Steamboat 7. Buckethead - QZ 9 8. Cain's Offering - Too Tired To Run That's all the rock/metal orientated tracks
  21. The Martian - I was dreading watching it after reading what was said about it on here but i thought it was excellent! Thoroughly enjoyed it.
