Looks like on the eve of the release of their new greatest hits disc "33", Prakesh announced his intention to leave the band. Pretty sad. I thought their last disc was pretty solid and their discography as a whole is quite stellar. http://www.shakra.ch/en/news.html John leaves SHAKRA! We are saddened by the fact that John has decided to leave us. We are losing an incredibly great singer and bandmember. With his loveable, quiet character, he has given us much pleasure during the past four years. We unfortunately have to accept his decision, and wish him well for his future ! Now, we’re forced to search for a new singer… You singers out there, get in touch with us if you wanna commence a new era ! Thom, Thomas, Roger, Dominik Statement by John : After many sleepless nights, I realized that SHAKRA is no longer priority No.1 in my life. With mixed feelings I remain today. I’m gonna miss my bandmembers and the whole crew a lot, but I’m also looking forward to what’s coming after my time as a Rocksinger. If and how I’m gonna make music in the future has not yet been dediced. John

I just went through the first 3 pages of member's (sorted by post count) and noticed a lot of the posters with the highest post count haven't been on the board in a long time. Anybody know what happened to any of these prolific posters from the past? I posted missing members anywhere from a few months to a few years. NIGHT BY NIGHT PUSH ALBUM BACK ONE MONTH: News from Night By Night: "After some deliberation, we've decided to postpone the release date of our June 16th to July as to avoid clashes with the Download Festival and Sweden Rock. As you'll understand, it's really important for us to be able to get press and radio attention around the release of the album and we're concerned that the rock media won't have time for a (relatively) new band's debut amidst all the events of June. Therefore, we've decided to change the date to July 11th (Mainland Europe) 14th (UK) and 15th (USA/Canada). We hope you understand - we've put the last 4 years into this album, so really want to ensure we get off to a great start with it! However - we will still be giving you some NxN delights in June, with the release of a digital single and video on June 23rd (more news soon) and we will play a London release show on July 17th (again, more news on this ASAP). Thank you for continuing to support us! Not long now! Ben, Hen, Jon, Tom and Damien."

Well, those from the Baltimore area might know who these guys are. I featured a demo track of theirs on my YouTube channel. They were formed in 1992 I believe and was a favorite of mine in the rock clubs. They hadn't been back together since 1993. Well, a member of the band posted in the comments section of the video that the band had reunited and were in rehearsals for live gigs. They are also planning on putting their old demos in a modern format and releasing it in the near future. I am stoked!! Love these guys!! Rock on!!! \m/ https://www.facebook.com/racetherat Musician/Band Jeff Schirmer - Vocals // Chris Murphy - Guitars // Gary Lay - Guitars // John Barr - Basses // 'Spanky' - Drums *2014 REUNION REHEARSALS IN PROGRESS!!!*

Yeah. Guitarist Chuck Stiletto left the band to move to the west coast or something. I hope they keep going. They have great potential.

Bearded transvestite wins 2014 Eurovision

I don't know. It was posted on another message board I frequent. Here's the link: http://fellowshipoftheminds.com/2014/05/11/bearded-transvestite-wins-2014-eurovision/ -
Bearded transvestite wins 2014 Eurovision Posted on May 12, 2014 by Dr. Eowyn Eurovision is an annual song competition held among the member countries of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). Each member country submits a song to be performed on live television and radio and then casts votes for the other countries songs to determine the most popular song in thecompetition. The contest has been broadcast every year since its inauguration in 1956 and is one of the longest-running television programs in the world. It is also one of the most watched non-sporting events in the world, with audience figures having been quoted in recent years as anything between 100 million and 600 million internationally. Since 2009, national votes in Eurovision semifinals are a 50/50 combination of both telephone votes by the public and the votes of juries made up of music professionals. An Austrian transvestite who calls itself Conchita Wurst is the winner of the 2014 Eurovision, held in Copenhagen, Denmark. Wikipedia says Conchita Wurst is the drag persona of 27-year-old Austrian singer Thomas Neuwirth. I use the pronoun it because I am genuinely confused. As you can see in the pic above, Wurst is dressed like a woman, has long hair and heavy eye makeup, but it also has a full moustache and beard. As I was considering posting about Wursts win, I thought to myself: You must try to be impartial. Maybe those voting used admirably strict criteria of merit, that is, how well the contestants sang. Despite its bizarre appearance, Wursts singing must be so superlative that the public and professional juries conferred the award on it. But as you can hear for yourself, thats not the case. By no stretch of the imagination can one say that Wursts singing is stellar. The conclusion, therefore, must be that Europeans selected Conchita Wurst precisely because it is a bearded transvestite. Im reminded of the cultural decadence of the Weimar Republic. Historians say the rise of Nazism in Germany in part was a reaction to and revulsion toward Weimars societal depravities. The irony, of course, is that the replacement was even worse. So too in our time, there will be a backlash against the cultural corruption around us. Lets hope the backlash to come wont be a Nazi-like jumping from the frying pan into the fire.

I agree with you all. Obvious filler to one person is another person's favorite track. -

And most of those 100% rated discs by Andrew are nowhere near 100% in my book. Most of them aren't even 90%. -

Not many perfect records out there. Some of those mentioned are at the top of my list: TNT "My Religion" and Dokken "Back For The Attack" -

I gave the new disc a pretty good 83%. I agree with all of the comments. I wish it rocked harder but it's still a great release.
