  1. I take it this isn't the C.O.P. that did "State Of Rock"? That's a killer disc!!
  2. This. I think I dislike the verses far too much to bother with these guys. It's definitely an acquired taste.
  3. Without missing a beat, bassist Tim Skold promptly stepped up to take over the frontman position, and Shotgun Messiah came back with a vengeance on album number two: the Hard Rock masterpiece 1991's 'Second Coming'. (review by Keith Abt)
  4. Is Jack Russell's Great White ever going to release The Gauntlet?? They released that one single almost a year ago and not a thing since.
  5. Yup...... waaaaaaay too much time on your hands!!
  6. Well that's terrible news. But I wonder if they do have a new proper album due next year. They're certainly due. I was actually thinking about them the other day with all these lists of new releases due, wondering where there one was. Live CD supposed to have 1 new studio track on it.
  7. For Geoff: NEW STEEL PANTHER CD in 2016!!!!!!!! Unfortunately, it's a live unplugged disc it appears.... coming out Feb. 2016.

  13. Is this the same band? http://www.heavyharmonies.com/cgi-bin/glamcd.cgi?BandNum=2088&CDName=Hit+%27n%27+Run All the members are different so I'm thinking it isn't.
  14. BLOCK BUSTER - Ain't On The Chain (2015) Hailing from Finland, BLOCK BUSTER have been doin' some noise in the last five years, being "Ain't On The Chain" their new recording showing how the band has positively evolved. Since the beginning of their career Block Buster sound has been described as heavily tied to AC/DC's hard rock book, but I can hear more traditional hard rock influences now. So, despite of having the Aussie band as reference (who doesn't?) Block Buster's style is far more brimmed with energy and attack — in that respect, not unlike an Airbourne, Bullet or even Jettblack. Opener "Caught In The Crossfire" starts with a classic rock feel, but soon explodes into a quite '80s hard rockin' tune with a multi-layered chorus / backing vocals arrangement and an overall US 1988 Californian style (Great White, why not). Title track "Ain't On The Chain" follows and it's a darn catchy bluesy hard rocker driven by a monster pumping bass line, an infectious guitar riff, and again, a contagious chorus. "Danger Line" goes for a more mid-tempo pace and the motto here is the groove, lots of groove. The chorus is anthemic, huge, massive, and the solo rocks. This is a terrific Eighties styled rocker and one of my favorites. "To Hell And Back" is a fine example of Block Buster's head-banging mayhem, complete with furious guitars and a pounding bottom end, then "Devil In You" slows things down just a touch and sounds at times as if it would have fit on Shotgun Messiah‘s Second Coming album. The fist-in-the-air attack returns during "Bark Of The Underdogs" and bookending this pretty killer album is "Bound To Lose", a full-speed ahead song that explodes out of the speakers like a blitzkrieg with a flurry of bad attitude and a take-no-prisoners assault. High energy hard rock is precisely what Block Buster brings to the party — nothing more and nothing less. The guys play with the necessary rawness to not lose the 'hard rock grip' - but do not be fooled, everything here sounds clear and polished, as with every Scandinavian act. The songs are really catchy, and what I can hear in this new Block Buster material is a notorious improvement in the choruses, they way they are constructed & build-up, turning the tunes much more anthemic, stadium-ready in the '80s US Californian vein. Strongly Recommended. 01 - Caught In The Crossfire 02 - Ain't On The Chain 03 - Danger Line 04 - To Hell And Back 05 - Alive Tonight 06 - Devil In You 07 - Bark Of The Underdogs 08 - Bound To Lose Aarni Metsäpelto - Vocals, Guitar Elias Salo - Lead Guitar Joonas Arppe - Bass Jaakko Metsäpelto - Drums BUY IT ! www.recordshopx.com/artist/block_buster/ .

  16. It's never too late they say... HITnRUN release today, December 11 their self-titled full length album 24 years after first forming. HitnRun, a Scranton, Pennsylvania based five-piece, was formed in 1991 and seems they stormed the music scene of Eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey bringing their brand of original commercial hard rock to the masses. HitnRun opened for national recording acts Dirty Looks, Tyketto, and Widowmaker (featuring Dee Snider of Twisted Sister). The group released a self-managed mini-album in 1993 but sadly arrived too late into the US scene, at the time dominated by the grunge scene. Now after unlocking the vaults and putting the finishing touches on their lifelong recordings, the band is releasing their self-titled "HitnRun" debut album to rockers around the world. Drummer Beckett Grealish says, “Back in 1991, we were told that there was no way we could play original rock in the Scranton PA area and draw a crowd, but we proved the naysayers wrong.” With hard rocking, hook-laden songs and electrifying live performances, HitnRun quickly developed a large and dedicated following in a music scene typically dominated by cover bands. “It’s taken a lot of hard work and patience to get to this point, but we’re really proud of this record and can’t wait for rock fans to hear it,” says HitnRun guitarist Jareth Grealish. “This album really captures our sound from the early '90s: bluesy, melodic, soulful and rocking,” he continues. And indeed this is a great collection of pure late '80s / early 90s US melodic hard rock in the vein of Hurricane, Roxy Blue, Great White, Y&T, etc. 'Shot Of Love' is a killer opener driven by a great riffs, Eric Montoya's slightly raspy vocals and a catchy chorus. There's more quality in the groovy 'Piece Of The Action', the Rough Cutt-like 'King Of The Fools', or the catchy arena ready 'Got The Fire'. 'Forever' is the ballad (very good) still rocking with a strong riff and featuring nice harmony vocals, then 'Take It To The Limit' rocks again in great form. The highly harmonized 'She's So Wild' is plenty of groove, 'Love Gone Bad' has a midtempo / bluesy feel in the Whitesnake mould, and 'Wild And Crazy Days' adds lots of swagger to the solid riff / chorus. Listening HitnRun's quality, you know this band should have been huge. This is not just another 'forgotten band / album rescued from the vaults'. Not at all, these guys are terrific. This is prime US Hard Rock of the greatest quality, and even the production / mix is excellent for a self-managed band. Don't miss this album. HIGHLY Recommended. 01. Shot Of Love 02. 17. from BANNED WEBSITE: http://BANNED WEBSITE.blogspot.com/2015/12/DOKKEN-The-Anthems-Japan-bonus-tracks-Keel-Motley-Crue-Lynch-Mob.html Some of you requested 'Greatest Hits', the collection of re-worked '80s hits recorded by DOKKEN few years ago, more specifically its Japan version featuring 2 bonus tracks. As the Japanese release turned out of print, this reissue by UK label Store For Music under the new title "The Anthems" is the one to get, as it's exactly like the Japanese (but with a new cover artwork and digipak case). Don Dokken had his greatest success with Dokken in the mid '80s with great albums like Breaking The Chains , Tooth And Nail, Under Lock and Key and Back For the Attack. The voice of Don and the excellent guitar work from George Lynch were the trademarks of the US Hard Rock. But the band felt apart a few years later. Don came back with an excellent album Up From The Ashes with a mega line-up: John Norum on guitar, Mikkey Dee on drums and Peter Baltes on bass. George Lynch came with an even better album Wicked Sensation with his own band Lynch Mob. Both bands didn’t last very long, and George and Don tried to make some magic again together, but seems the chemistry was gone. So George decided to quit the band and continued as solo-artist. Don put Dokken back on the map with awesome guitarist Jon Levin (with a similar guitar style as George) and bass player Sean McNabb. Sean played in bands like Great White, House Of Lords, XYZ and Paul Shortino. This is the combo which re-recorded some Dokken classics and added two new tracks, and a couple of covers originally featured on the original Japanese release. On the album you’ll find ten of the greatest hits from Dokken. They have been re-recorded with the new line-up and I am pleased to say all sound terrific. Jon Levin is monster of a guitarist and Don sounds great in my opinion. There where rumors that the voice of Don wasn’t what it used to be... Don has slightly re-arranged his vocal-lines here to spare his voice, and frankly most of the time he’s gotten away with it. He gets some help from the rest of the band during the harmonies and it all works out perfectly. So we can enjoy classic Dokken tunes like “Just Got Lucky”, “Breaking The Chains”, “Into The Fire” and “Unchain The Night”. Even “In My Dreams” and “Alone Again” - perhaps the more harder to re-create - come out greatly. Perhpas it's in the speedy “Tooth and Nail” where is more noticeable Don's struggle to hit the original high vocal notes, but the groove in the arrangement provides a refreshing new take on the song. The overall resulting sound of these classic songs is a bit more punchier than the originals, and although Jon Levin has a guitar set-up similar to Lynch, he still adds a little touch of his own flair all over. "The Anthems" has also 4 new songs to offer, and all are juicy. The First “Almost Over” is a mid-tempo rocker with a great sounding Don accompanied by excellent guitars from Jon. Then “Magic Man” is a truly awesome track, faster & heavier and has that extremely furious guitar riff. Mick Brown’s drumming is outstanding, fiercely bashing the skins. One of the Japanese bonus tracks is “Bus Stop”, a surprising cover from The Hollies from 1966! Don't worry; the smooth vocals from Don and the acoustic guitar from Jon make this a real treat for the ears. The other, “Lies”, is a cover from the one hit wonder from a band called The Knickerboxers (never heard the original). Dokken's version is fun and somehow reminds you Enuff Z'Nuff (plus the Beatles influence) with a scorching guitar solo, and it's perfect to close an album. Many Hard Rock aficionados (and some Dokken fans) didn't know this new line-up of Dokken re-recorded these classic songs - and believe me, this baby worth the purchase. Of course the original '80s recordings are the timeless ones and my favorites, but the new takes featured here seriously Rock. Additionally, you have two new songs exclusive to this release, plus the two Japanese bonus tracks (also exclusive here). Has anyone checked this out? Just wondering how it sounds with Don's crap voice nowadays.
