Yeah, I really like the band and have listened to this one quite a few times thinking it might grow on me. It hasn't.
How this is #1 on the Alternative Addiction chart is beyond me.

I'm really enjoying Emphatic's "Another Life". This has been the only new release this year that I thought was worth the wait.
I'm also really liking Pistol Day Parade - Burn. That's probably my pick for the best of this year. Check it out, if you haven't heard it yet.
Jonas & The Massive Attraction is good, but I haven't heard some of the others on your list. I'll give a listen.
Holy shit, mate, I haven't been able to get a grasp on the new disc... yet, but I got my hands on 'A New Life' from last year, from Pistol Day Parade, and I really like these guys. Really average opener, but some cracking modern melodic hard rock on there. Very promising band and if the debut was that impressive, I think this new one this year could be great! Must get my ears on it.
Haha, okay, so just looking at the track list, it's the same album!
Oh well, comments stand - very nice disc.
Yeah, It's pretty much the same thing with "High" being the only new track.

I don't think I've ever seen a 'best of' disc that wasn't missing at least one song I really liked.
This one is missing "Hey Now".
-
Van Gunn - S/T
Wonderful hard rocking release that few have heard...
Never heard that before. Cool. I'll have to check out the whole thing.

If you exclude Great White, "Four Winds" would probably be in my '80s top ten.
I didn't like anything on "Stranded" except for the title track.
-
Good, but that's because more than half of the tracks come from their previous CD, "Calling All Angels". I wasn't that impressed with the 5 new ones.
-
Catchy tune and the video is kinda cool, but someone needs to remind Jacob Hoggard that he's not in a boy band.
-
Pretty much every Harem Scarem Japan Bonus track is excellent!
Yeah, I actually like the acoustic version of "Slowly Slipping Away" better than the other.
-
ZZ Top - Doubleback
Classic.
-
Great White has some good ones:
Bitches and Other Women (Twice Shy, Japan)
Wasted Rock Ranger (Twice Shy, Japan)
Slow Ride (B-Side)
Somebody to Love (Psycho City, Japan)
Burnin' House of Love (Let it Rock, Japan)
The Good Die Young (Can't Get There From Here, Japan)
I also like Winger's "Hell to Pay", from "Pull".

Emphatic - I Don't Need You

I'm hating Great White. I probably don't need to explain why I should like them, but now don't.

I still think Once Bitten is the best but I have to say, their self titled debut is sleazy, nasty and awesome as hell.
It amazes me that Shot in the Dark is getting this much love. Ton of filler...
I'm curious to know which ones you think are filler.

Some of her stuff is pretty good, though I like to call her "P!!! en kay".
-
Best comeback, i think, would have to be Marc Storace rejoining Krokus for Rock the Block in '03.
A close 2nd is Loverboy - Just Getting Started.
-
...Jaded Heart's cover of NKOTB's "Larger Than Life".
Cool points to everyone for not correcting me on that one.
Any recent ones anybody can add?

I was just thinking the other day about making this thread. Now this is intended to be for bands that were broken up for at least 10 years. I am looking for bands that reformed and released an excellent cd and ones that released a pile of crap.
The awful ones:
Shark Island - Gathering Of The Faithful
I love that Shark Island CD. Wish they'd do another already.

That great! I actually still use Goldwave. Dumb question, but how do you delete/replace the spoken words but keep the music intact?
I just took a section that didn't have vocals and looped it a few times to match the original. For the 5 seconds just prior to the guitar solo, I used the Reduce Vocals filter just enough to mask the commentary.
-
As requested in this thread.
I did this while playing around with GoldWave about 13 years ago. I never shared it with anyone except my girlfriend who didn't find it that amusing. Maybe she just didn't share my sense of humor.
Here you go.

What's up guys. I am one of the two guitar players in Shotgun Harbour. Really appreciate you guys checking our stuff out. We did not get pressed CD's made yet but are debating whether to invest in that (expensive!!!) or put that money to something else like merch, band savings, etc. Again, thanks for checking us out and if you bought the EP we thank you very much.
*PS - To get the record straight, "Down Here" has songs 1-6 on it with the current lineup. Our older album, "The Cover-Up" has the rest on it with former lead singer Scott Struble. For some reason online sites like to combine them. But both are quality music so check them out!!!
If you guys don't opt for the pressed CDs, a lossless (flac) release like what's offered at cdbaby or bandcamp.com would be cool too. That way audiophiles can still get CD quality and you don't have to worry about physical distribution. I already bought the mp3s, but I'd pay again for lossless. Honestly, when I buy a pressed CD, it goes into my CD drive once to convert it to flac, then I never touch the CD again. I can't speak for everyone though.
Love your music. It's a cool mix of southern rock, modern rock and blues. You're one of those bands that you can't describe by saying they sound like somebody else. It's an original sound. Good stuff. Thanks for the tunes and I hope you guys can make some good $$$ at this.

Where did you find those? Too many lyrics sites post lyrics as they were misheard by the person transcribing them.
I've always heard it as this:
Time to move her body's shakin'
As the cold cold sweat begins to pour
I'm holdin' back an honest feelingA drug to potent to ignore
Just you wait and see
She looks like that from heavy breathingLove will turn the key

Their new CD comes out on July 30th. Here's one of the new songs:
Seconds Away

If you like Modern Rock, check out Seconds Away. There's no official release yet, but the band has made 6 of their tracks available for free download to help gain some exposure.
From their Facebook page:
These guys are good. "Dissent" and "Valediction" are my favorites, but all 6 are worth listening.
