  1. Never heard of these guys and I can't watch this song, but I checked on youtube for these guys and found a good song called 'Why' which I could play. Sounds good. Are they a good band? Worth checking out?

    If this one doesn't work...

    ...then try here.

It's a decent CD, a bit on the mellow side, kind of like Daughtry. I think "Candy' is the best track along with this one:

  2. I would have loved to include Def Leppard but not Hysteria. It's a brilliant album but for me I'm going to be controversial and say that Retro Active is their best album. It's not perfect but contains a bunch of absolute killers.

None of them better than "Fractured Love", in my opinion. My favorite Leppard song.

  3. I supported Rod Black's (Jet Black Stare) Pledge campaign last year only to receive a CD that was burned from low-bitrate, shitty-sounding mp3s. He later re-encoded a 128kpbs mp3 to a higher bitrate and is currently selling it on Amazon and iTunes. It also sounds awful, which sucks because the songs are actually pretty good.

Even after I called him out on it and sent him proof of his mistake, he still thinks it was mastered properly and sounds great.

  4. If you happen to know the season and/or episode of FNL that snippet is from, you've got a good chance of finding it here:

    Sounds darn interesting....

I gave that a try last night, but websites like this one list the song for that scene as "Rock Candy" by Montrose.

I think this may be a case of original music being replaced on the DVD release so they can avoid paying royalties for it. I didn't hear Rock Candy or any of those other songs in the episode.

  5. Everybody knows The Power Station is one of my most admired discs of all time, but Grey, if I may call you Grey, who spearheaded The Power Stations rhythm section??? anybody, anybody?? oh yes! one of my favorite drummers of all time, and 70's funk legend, Tony Thompson(r.i.p.) I have at least a couple threads on HH discussing not only Tony's mind blowing and absolutely one of a kind drumming style, but I even have a thread somewhere on HH discussing the other mind blowing and completely one and only distinction that The Power Station and Tony in particular better yet have, and that's the sound engineering that was used on the drum tracking on The Power Stations self titled debut, if your in tuned or not to that kind of stuff, then you've no doubt noticed picked up on the fact that The Power Stations debut disc, has a very very unique and distinct drum sound on it, that Tony and his engineer fucked with, and perfected over the course of straight 2 months of dicking with it, at 1st thought, one will probably be sold that they used an electronic kit, probably a Simmons kit, but those drums on that disc are 100% acoustic, and the sound was created by Tony and his engineer, using a nauseating number of compressors, and then using unheard of amounts of Gating, to achieve what I believe IMO is one of the coolest sounding drum kits in the history of recording audio, so back to the matter at hand, The Power Station are white, but where did they have to go in order to anchor their sound? aw yes, back to the 70's funk pool, and thank god they did, cause that's one of my fav discs in this genre of all time, and I hate the fact they only gave us 9 songs from that historical time in that genres history, as they were no doubt one of, if not the greatest band of that genre to ever record, and now it's to late to ever get anything new out of them again, it really is depressing,

Yeah, I had a feeling you'd mention Thompson. No argument with anything you're saying regarding the Power Station (that debut CD is one of my all-time favorites). I was just pointing out that Robert Palmer is no stranger to the genre either.

  6. I agree with the Lansdowne suggestion. That's a great album. I'd also recommend these if you like that type of music:

    Angels Fall - Yesterday's Gone

Art of Dying - Vices and Virtues

    DoryDrive - Calling on Angels

    Emphatic - Another Life, Damage

    Pistol Day Parade - Burn

State of Shock - Rock 'n Roll Romance

Throwing Gravity - It's Not the End

  7. Am I the only one who didn't care for this style? I preferred my '80s rock from guys who had more of a vocal range.

Sure, I liked bands like Motley Crue, Slaughter and Steelheart and the vocals were fine on the heavier tracks. But I cringe listening to songs like "Without You", "Fly to the Angels" or "Never Let You Go". Those guys had no business singing ballads.
