  1. Sweet christ, I love that. This is what I hate about the whole modern rock scene. I download and try about 89,000 modern rock bands a week (and find a lot of great ones) but ones like this still slip through the cracks completely un-noticed. It makes me angry wondering who else out there is doing exactly what I love, and I don't know about it.

I couldn't agree more with that. I know there's plenty of Modern Rock albums out there in the style that I like, but I'm probably missing out on a lot of them.

Spotify and the Related Artists feature has helped me find quite a few gems. Other than here, where are you finding yours?

  2. Revenge is one of my favorite KISS albums, but it's saddled with two crap-tacular tracks - the power ballad "Everytime I Look at You" (ugh!) and that godawful cover of "God Gave Rock N Roll To You" (I don't care WHO is playing it, that song sucks!)

Aside from those two turds, tho, it's killer! :beerbang:

Wow. "Everytime I Look at You" is one of my favorite KISS tracks (along with "All Hell's Breakin' Loose") and maybe my favorite tune from '92. I agree with GGRNRTY though, that one is awful. I'll never understand why they released that as a single.

  3. The Walgreens' drug store around my corner has a whole "mini-store" section devoted to Taylor Swift stuff... CDs, T-shirts, posters, books, etc.

In the aisle a life size cardboard cut out of Taylor is standing in front of all this stuff, and every time I pass by it I wonder how many local teenage boys are plotting to steal that cut out so they can take it home and do weird sex stuff with it. :D

My Walgreens has that too, right by the front entrance. I never realized how tall she was. That gal is 5' 11" (180cm) :o

  4. Shakra frustrate me.

On their last album the title track and Crazy, were awesome - 2 of my favourite tracks from that year, but the rest of the album was average.

Can see the newie being the same.........

"Crazy" rocks, didn't care for the rest.

Just heard this new one. I love "Save You From Yourself". I'll pass on the rest.

The first Shakra CD is good, but I think this band was at its best with Mark Fox.

  5. I really miss SAVATAGE, especially the Savatage with Zak Stevens on vocals.

Once a year I'll pull out all my Savatage discs and just go nuts for a few days. To this day the greatest and most listened to CD-R I ever made was a compilation of Savatage tunes. I've had to reburn it a few times over the years. Most of them with Zak Stevens on vox and all being the over the top orchestrated tracks or power ballad types.

Here are the tracks and the order in which they are listed.

    Welcome (TWOM)

This Is The Time (Dead Winter Dead)

    Chance (Handful Of Rain)

    Gutter Ballet (Gutter Ballet)

This Isn't What We Meant (Dead Winter Dead)

    Hourglass (TWOM)

All That I Bleed (Edge Of Thorns)

    One Child (Dead Winter Dead)

Alone You Breath (Handful Of Rain)

    Follow Me (Edge Of Thorns)

Not What You See (Dead Winter Dead)

    Anymore (TWOM)

    Somewhere In Time/Believe (Streets)

I can honestly say all these songs are perfect 10/10 tracks to me, for me it's the perfect mix.

If a CD-R could only be 90 minutes and not 80. I add the title tracks Edge Of Thorns and The Wake Of Megallan.

So any bands that you miss that haven't done anything in years or simply don't exist anymore?

I prefer the Zak Stevens stuff too, but I couldn't burn a Savatage CD without "Handful of Rain", their best tune IMO.

Cool. Probably most most anticipated release. If it's anything like their last 3 albums, I'll be happy. I just heard the title track and it sounds similar to the Hoodoo stuff. I like it.

    Krokus - Dirty Dynamite

  7. My first real concert would have to be Great White at Harpos in Detroit in 1987. It was an all-ages show so I had no problem getting in at 17. I think I overestimated their popularity at the time since I was the only one buying tickets for the show the morning they went on sale. "Rock Me" had barely gotten any serious airplay yet. Plus, I'd never bought concert tickets before.

There were a few other GW fans there, apparent by few "Stick It" t-shits I saw around, but I think more people were there just for the cheap ticket and $1 pitchers. Toward the end of the show the front of the stage wasn't all that crowed and Jack even yelled at the crowd saying something like "Get off your asses. This ain't a fuckin' Madonna concert or New Kids bullshit". I just stood there in front of the stage in awe. Those guys were like hard rock royalty to me.

They played practically every tune from the "Shot in the Dark" album, a few from the self-titled album and featured a few from their new CD, "Once Bitten". I still have the t-shirt that I see someone was selling on eBay for $89. It's still in decent shape and I'd wear it if it weren't too small. Same goes for my '89 Mista Bone shirt. I was kinda runty back in high school, so I bought 'em small.

  8. I had to go with Shot In The Dark, I think Great White albums follow patterns, you strike a song, maybe 2, that absolutely floor you, then sure as the sun will rise, the album veers off and you get a few songs that just fucking suck, then another good song, so plenty of fillers in the Great White discography, Shot In The Dark remains consistent, and everybody knows my most favorite GW song remains a song not only not on any of their major releases, but one when I axed Jack Russell to play, he laughed and gave me some very hilarious(smart ass) responses about even asking about it, and that would be the song Slow Ride, best GW song ive ever heard, what an excellent song, god how could they think almost 60% of their discography was more worthy then Slow Ride? goes to show why they have so much fucking garbage fillers on their albums!

Great tune. I don't know how that didn't make the ...Twice Shy album. As it is, you gotta get the French compilation "Gallery" to even get that one on CD. And of course that's the CD that erroneously mentioned Tony Montana's death in the booklet and helped fuel the rumor.

  9. Doh.I was getting these 2 confused with the intro. I didn't play the rest after the intro, so presumed it was 'Stone In Your Heart'. Odd how they tacked that on the beginning of ' Satisfied Man' as you say. Both top tunes though.

I wasn't thinking you got it wrong. I was just recalling their decision to use the intro with a different song.

  10. I dont believe most people knew what a dirty player Isiah was, probably because he was on the same team as Rodman, I do know, that when they picked the dream team members, one of the stipulations to Michael Jordon agreeing to be on it, was Isiah Thomas was not to be on it, I think that's a pretty telling story about what the rest of basketball thought of him, I always liked Dumars, and Salley, hell I loved watching Rodman, but no fan of Isiah,

I don't think Isiah was a dirty player (certainly no worse than Malone), but I'll admit my bias. He was captain of a team nicknamed the "Bad Boys" so some of that reputation was attributed to him. As for the Dream Team and Jordan... Jordan's dislike of Thomas stems from the 1985 All-Star Game in which Jordan blamed Isiah (the starting PG) for his sub-par game. He seems to think Isiah convinced the rest of the team to not pass him the ball. As if some 4th year dude had that kind of influence over legends like Bird and Erving and Moses Malone. And really, "If Isiah plays, I'm gonna take my ball and go home", kinda says something about Jordan too.

The "worst" thing Isiah did to the Jazz was score 44 points against them in the game before Malone clocked him. That ain't worth the huge scar he still sports over his left eye.

  11. Any of the AC/DC releases are way overrated in my book.

I know that many people think DIRTY LOOKS sounds like AC/DC... But for my money, DIRTY LOOKS is 100x better. Many also say RHINO BUCKET sounds a bit like AC/DC.. I'll take RHINO BUCKET any day.

Speaking of AC/DC clones... I'll take Krokus over AC/DC any day. Especially their last 3 albums.

Only thing Dirty Looks impressed me with is their "Five Easy Pieces" CD.

  12. Yeah, awesome song and indeed a low budget vid, probably shot in a single room with few cheap effects. Lookin forward to their new album!

Kind of reminds me of Unruly Child's "Very First Time" video. Just put the band in a room and roll tape. Honestly, it's all cool with me. At least you have some kind of visual. It's better than not getting anything at all, and much better than this new trend of lyric videos.
