  1. surely you jest.................. I was fortunate to find a few of these around melbourne's finest used cd stores many moons ago...... back when the pricetag on this gem was over $200 usd..... this is imho still is one of the finest aor platters around... certainly a major improvement in leaps & bounds over its classic rated predeccesor " affairs of babylon " Sorry mate but it does nothing for me. I even copied it before I sold it but have never played that copy once. Nice sound, good keyboards/vocals etc, no songs with any hooks whatsoever. Stuff like Aviator and Urgent leaves this for dead IMHO. Funnily enough I was listening to this today and its all over the boards! (Geoff was listening to it as well). I wouldnt slag it quite as much as Tim.....I actually think its a pretty decent AOR album, but it does tail off badly towards the end. Needed a killer 10th track to lift it. Agree that its miles off Aviator etc though
  2. How fuckin freaky is that! Me too. Great disc up until the last 2 tracks. It definitely needed a killer 10th track.
  3. Quote Geoff 20.01.2009 "9. Changes ; melodic rock bliss. Another wonderful tune." ...........see you do agree with me The biggest WTF statement in this entire thread is 'Heat for a tenner' But track by track, that was still the 2nd weakest for me, I think, and there are heaps better... imo. I think youd better re-listen to it mate. 'Changes' is an awesome tune. Great melody, perfect chorus. & the 2nd half of the disc is much much stronger than the first half IMO. In fact I would class 'Set Me Free' as borderline filler.

  6. Wow - there are some good bands playing Camden in March (not sure if I'd count HEAT in that list too?!). Will check if I'm gonna be in London that day & if so will go straight after work.... Im on holiday that day and we'll be there around 7pm. Give me a shout nearer the time if you intend to go and perhaps we can meet

Same boat here mate - sinking like the Titanic. It could be ALOT worse though couldn't it Ian Bournemouth and Barnet winning = Not good mate :bananamac: What you need to do is win your game in hand and beat Grimsby in a couple of weeks time - you might have a hope then...........slim. We DO have a chance...It just involves winning very game, and not being content with poxy o-o's........... Yeah but you HAVE to beat Grimsby as they are team you are gunning for. Lose to them and its over.
  8. It's not that I don't like it, it's just there wasn't enough quality control when the final tracks were decided. Too many songs I have to skip through. Knowing that they can write great songs like "Follow Me" and "Bring the Stars" makes me wonder why they can't write an entire album like that.... If they do on the 2nd album then I'll be the first one to jump up & down in excitement though! What and 'Straight For The Heart', 'Never Let Go', 'Keep On Dreamin' are no good then?? Awesome songs for me?? On reflection I think I prefer HEAT s/t to the 2nd BF. Seeing HEAT on Mar 18th in London - well looking forward to it as well! No, I'm not having that. H.E.A.T is not bad, but it's nowhere near the 2nd BFT album IMO, nor the killer new PLACE VENDOME. Both kick dirt in their face. In fact I'd take the weakest song on the PLACE VENDOME (probably "Set Me Free") over the best song on the H.E.A.T ("Follow Me"). P.s. Whereabouts they playing on the 18th? I agree the BF and new Place Vendome blowing away the HEAT cd, although I do like it quite a bit. But the track "Follow Me" kicks the shit out of pretty much everything on the new Place Vendome. Of my fav tunes of 2008, it finished in 2nd, right behind "Wildest Dreams" from BF, which is probably my favorite song of the decade. I agree with your song choices there Dave, "Wildest Dreams" and "Follow Me" are right up there for me too. But I actually like "A Scene In Replay" better than both.... Yeah that's a great song, but its 'Changes' for me.......a belter. (PS HEAT are playing Camden Underworld.........for a tenner. No brainer).
  9. 9.5 mins of pure bliss mate....enjoy
  10. A band called Cattle Decapitation suck? Who'd have guessed it?!

  13. It was and is good. Debate over. But seriously, with the "calibre of musicians involved" I personally (and now it's my turn to be all alone with an opinion) think it murders and shamelessly demolishes anything Journey even dreamt of releasing... or that they did release. And btw, I probably don't rate it quite as high as most, but I do like it a lot. Well I guess that's a style-thing, I prefer AOR over Hard Rock so am always going to love Journey more than this sort of plodding stuff. And vice versa with you. It would be fair to say that with the quality of musicians they had, Journey should have made more great/classic albums than they actually did, but I still think their catalogue easily beats that of a band that made one decent album & one pretty bad one.... What, what and what...........jesus guys. 1. The Hardline debut is an awesome slab of melodic hard rock 2. The Journey back catalogue is just fine and dandy thanks. Get real guys.

yep this is on the radar......cheers for the low down
  15. yeah its a rip off for sure.........still a great album tho. Amazes me to this day that you cant like this cd?? Weird.
  16. Fastastic live version of one of my favourite songs. The guitar solos from the 5 min mark are just awesome.
  17. Im at home - fuckin happy as Larry Party a little fuckin' bit for me. Not after you slagged fuckin JSS I think a lot of others will too, mate, when it comes out properly. You may have no one to fuckin' party with! Jez likes it - at least he's got some fuckin taste

  19. Ouch.........heathen! I dont like you anymore LOL!!!! Come on man, this album is awesome. Takes a few spins to get into....but seriously I love this thing. Hey ho, to each their own. Well I got it the same day I got PLACE VENDOME, but have been spinning that thing so much I only just got round to playing this one. I will stick with it, but would be amazed if I end up liking this as much as the TALISMAN 7 album. I might get stoned for this, but even his vocals don't seem anywhere near as good as on previous albums... Wow, I dont get that comment at all? I mean he's never sounded better than on 'Gin & Tonic Sky' or 'Cry Me A River'.....awesome tunes. Great voice. Period. Go Tim!!! I forget what I said about it last year, but I cast this album aside after only the second spin, I think. There was a nice song... maybe even two of them, but overall it was very pale compared to his last couple of great discs. Already forgotten to me. dick.
  20. Im at home - fuckin happy as Larry
