  3. From BANNEDWEBSITE.COM: One of the best and more underrated acts from the present Hard Rock scene, BOMBAY BLACK, are back with their 6th studio album "Walk Of Shame". If there's any shame, it's precisely why this band isn't way bigger in the music business than they are. Bombay Black already have 5 very good records under their belt, but "Walk Of Shame" is hands-down the band's best disc, and my pick for the party-rock disc of the summer, if not the year. These guys approach to classic American Hard Rock is really updated both in sound & style, making a modern take on the L.A. Sunset Strip Scene cock rawk with attitude and originality. The songs have that old-school feel, yet with inventive arrangements and lots, lots of hooks. You could picture just about every song blaring at top volume from a convertible on the way to the beach in 1990, however, all sounds really 2014, powerful, assassin. Written by vocalist Erik Johnson and co-produced with bassist Ty Sims, "Walk Of Shame" sounds crystal clear yet stained and spontaneous with a smoky veneer on the likes of "Bye Bye Juliet", the best song Motley Crue never wrote. One of Bombay Black’s biggest draws is the way Johnson delivers his midrange hair metal vocals and the powerful melodies emanating from the groovy twin guitars. Even without the fantastic production, the riffage alone would shatter the Great Wall, hammering home again and again on track after track. But Bombay Black are not a one trick pony. Apart from the melting hard rockers such as the aforementioned "Bye Bye Juliet" (a highlight), "Sex & Gasoline", or the anthemic hands-in-the-air "Everything You Wanted" (another highlight), they have much more to offer. You have great melodic hard rock tunes on the catchy "America's Sweetheart" (infectious chorus) and "I May As Well", foot-tapping hair metal in "Come Over Here" and "Sunshine", a really well elaborated power ballad in "Sucker", and even some exploration on the groovy mid-tempo "Haunting L.A." which starts with synth samples. This Arkansas quartet rocks like no-other with their unique Hard Rock style, and "Walk Of Shame" is an album you must listen. It's classic early '90s American Hard Rock / Hair Metal / Melodic Hard Rock but transported to 2014, a logical evolution from a genre that still admits new frontiers, and Bombay Black prove this on their excellent new record. Sooner or later, the world is going to have to realize that BOMBAY BLACK is simply one of the best bands on the planet making Hard Rock today. GLORIOUS. http://bombayblack.fourfour.com/ https://www.facebook.com/BombayBlackMusic

  8. New album 'Mental Revolution' out in November. From FB: NEWS FLASH!!! Good news: Sofia is pregnant and will have a baby in August Bad news: Nubian Rose have to cancel their performance at the Väsby Rock festival in July. At Sofias last ultra sound examination, the doctors gave her an earlier "delivery date" then what's been said before. That should mean that it's a fairly big chance that the baby will come just at the time of the festival. In a dialogue with the Väsby rock festival, it's decided that it's most fair to everyone to cancel the performance this far before the festival. Other then that, the new album is being mixed, it sounds absolutely fantastic and it will be released in the fall.

  16. New release that sounds like it was made in the 80's. Good stuff. From http://BANNED WEBSITE.blogspot.com/2014/04/RONNY-LEE-Original-Retro-2014-Journey-Foreigner-REO-Speedwagon-Loverboy-Honeymoon-Suite.html: Who is this guy called RONNY LEE and his awesome '80s inspired album "Original Retro"? Where he comes from? The New Jersey area? L.A.? His songs sounds like from both sides of America, but Ronny hails from Robinson, Illinois. Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA and transplanted to the Midwest, seems this songwriter, singer and guitarist is a veteran solo artist who also plays in a band known as Baywood and has provided vocals for several independent film soundtracks. And that's precisely how "Original Retro" sounds: all the ten songs on this album easily could have been part of any 'action movie' from the 1982 / 1987 era. All the compositions in "Original Retro" are indeed Ronny Lee's originals, but they are more than 'inspired' by the '80s; they are carbon copy both in musicality and sound. And the good part of it is that Ronny is a real fan of the AOR / Melodic Rock style from that period. I mean, all of it; arrangements, playing, production. We have real drums (not programmed), pulsating bass lines, stabbing keyboards, great guitar riffs and catchy choruses. What is most surprising is the quality of the package: many tracks does not sound like an indie at all. Some cuts were obviously recorded at different period / studios and come out with a 'demo feel', but this only adds more charm to the material as a 'lost Eighties AOR collectible'. The magical sound from those years akin Journey or Foreigner but fundamentally acts like Preview, Orion The Hunter, Prism, Canadians Refugee and many more is faithfully replicated by Ronny Lee and his session musicians, all truly compelling players and second to none. The song titles say much of the lovable stuff included into the album, such as the superb "Straight to the Top" (lots of keys), "It's Been Too Long" akin Preview, the synth pumped "Just One Night" recalling Arc Angel, and the live recorded "Side By Side" with shades of Jimmy Harnen & Synch. The killer riff-driven AOR "Long After Midnight" feels like a lost Fortune pre-Harlan Cage song (terrific guitar solo) and Ronny sings his heart out, "Easy Street" brings to mind Refugee, and the keyboard cascades of "Hey Mary", Loverboy and Beau Coup. On the sweet "Backstreets" you get flashbacks to films such as 'Karate Kid', while the action-movie ready "Black Limos & White Lines" surprises with a hard rockin' delivery both in the sharp riff and Ronny's performance. "Original Retro" is a no-brainer for any true '80s AOR fan. It's home-made crafted but has captured the sound & style of the era like few have been able in this new millenium. Ronny Lee has catched 'the studio atmosphere' of the Eighties, something so difficult to reproduce these days (even for major bands with larger budget). As said, if you're a sucker for '80s soundtracks / AOR, "Original Retro" is a treat from Heaven, a must have album. Fooking awesome. http://www.theronnylee.com/ https://www.facebook.com/ronnyleeoriginalretro Tracklist: 01 - Straight To The Top 02 - Long After Midnight 03 - It's Been Too Long 04 - Just One Night 05 - Side By Side 06 - Easy Street 07 - Hey Mary 08 - Backstreets 09 - Black Limos & White Lines 10 - Sign Of The Times
