  6. This is getting a physical CD release through MelodicRock Classics. Just made my order... Press release: MelodicRock Classics is pleased to announce a one-time physical CD release of the acclaimed synthwave AOR debut from Swedish/American outfit PLATFORMS. The Limited Edition CD release of just 500 units will be available to pre-order today, with the official CD release date of July 2. $25 (includes worldwide shipping) Pre-order now via: https://melodicrockclassics.com/platf... Platforms is an example of one of the positive aspects of the modern Internet culture we find ourselves in. During a dark period in his life, from his apartment in Chicago, singer Jordan Cox filled his hard drive with countless songs that sat unrealized and unreleased. One day, he found Swedish producer Michael Palace on Instagram and sent him a direct message. After bonding over their appreciation for rock and modern synth music the two quickly began resurrecting Jordan’s demos and writing new songs from scratch. Through Dropbox exchanges and Facebook messenger they constructed a full-length album within months. ‘ The Future That Never Happened’ is an exciting mix of rock, pop and synthwave, filled to the brim with 80’s nostalgia. The album was released digitally in 2020 and fans have been asking for a physical version ever since.
  7. Press release: NEW from MelodicRock Classics Finally, the answer to the question – Who Is TIM? TIM were an ‘almost super-group’, at least with the benefit on hindsight they sure are. Not so much at the time of writing and recording this album in 1983. Regrettably, TIM members were so busy individually with sessions, and family commitments, that the band never made any more music together. TIM is: Thom Griffin – Vocals, Guitar Bruce Gaitsch – Guitars Bob Lizik – Bass Terry Tossing Esq – Keyboards Tom Radtke and Jim Hines – Drums The individual recording credits of these guys are incredible: Thom Griffin – Trillion, Ambition, Brian Wilson, Mecca, Pride Of Lions, Jimi Jamsion, Dennis DeYoung Bruce Gaitsch – Richard Marx, Fergie Frederiksen, Chicago, Peter Cetera, Michael W. Smith, Madonna, Jim Peterik, Kelly Keagy Bob Lizik – Brian Wilson, Pride Of Lions, Dennis DeYoung, Soleil Moon, Peterik/Scherer, World Stage Tom Radtke – John Prine, Dennis DeYoung, Barbra Streisand Jim Hines – Brian Wilson, Cyndi Lauper Together they made an unreleased masterpiece. An album so good it would have challenged the other rock albums of 1983 for their dominance. Thom Griffin comments: “TIM was comprised entirely of session players from Chicago. We were consciously trying to be commercially viable. Bruce had a condo in downtown Chicago where we would meet between sessions to write. I believe we flushed out our ideas on a Fostex 4 track porta-studio.” Bruce Gaitsch claiming: “We were trying so hard to be Chicago’s Toto!” All the songs were recorded using analog recording with no auto-tune or quantization or sequencers and were intended as demos with very few overdubs (with the exception of an occasional instrumental overdub, and vocals). The fact they still sound so amazing today is tantamount to the talent behind the writing and recording. Bruce continues: “I do recall doing sessions all day and going into Universals big room at night, 8:00 and working all night then going right to a session the next day! We used to write when we had time between sessions at my downtown apartment. It was fun, a nice release from doing commercials 6 times a day.” Bob Lizik recalls calling the band’s sessions as ‘dust rehearsals’ as the low-rent hired rehearsal space still had a dirt floor. Bruce: “We helped the first rehearsal studio get started by booking lots of hours even when they still had a dirt floor! Rehearsals would be cancelled at the last minute because of work all the time, then we’d see each other at the sessions.” And the name? There’s been plenty of guesses where it came from. I’ll leave it to Thom Griffin to reveal the truth: “Yes, the name TIM was a reference to ‘Tim, the Enchanter’ in Monty Python’s “Holy Grail!” movie.” 29 years in the making, the debut TIM album will finally and rightfully see the light of day on July 9 via reissue label MelodicRock Classics on Limited Edition CD (1000 units) and Digital. 01. 12. Press release: NMB are pleased to announce the release of their much-anticipated fourth studio album ‘Innocence & Danger’ on August 27th, 2021. With NMB’s previous two releases being concept albums, it’s perhaps remarkable that Innocence & Danger is a series of unrelated songs, but drummer Mike Portnoy says “After two sprawling back to back double concept albums in a row, it was refreshing to get back to writing a collection of unrelated individual songs in the vein of our first album.” Indeed, making this album came easy to the band; while the initial inspiration came particularly from Bill Hubauer (keyboards) and Randy George (bass), the ideas flowed from everybody from there on, as George recalls: “I am excited about the level of collaboration that we achieved on this one. We even went in with a lot of ideas that weren’t necessarily developed, and I think in the end we have something that represents the best of everybody in the band.” In fact – like its two acclaimed predecessors – Innocence & Danger is a double album by inspiration, rather than design, as Portnoy explains: “As much as we wanted to try and keep it to a single album after having just done two double albums, we wrote so much material that we found ourselves with our third double album in a row! That’s pretty prog!” There is also plenty: “There's one half hour epic and another that's about 20 minutes long. I really didn't realise that they were that long when we were recording them, which I guess is great because if a movie is really good, you don't realise that it's three hours long! But there are also some shorter songs: some have poppier elements, some are heavier and some have three part acoustic sections. I’m excited about all of it, really.” The album will be released as a Limited 2CD+DVD Digipak (featuring a Making Of documentary), 3LP+2CD Boxset, Standard 2CD Jewelcase & Digital Album, featuring artwork by Thomas Ewerhard (Transatlantic). Pre-orders start on the 18th June, and the full track-listing is below: Tracks: CD 1: Innocence 1. Do It All Again 2. Bird On A Wire 3. Your Place In The Sun 4. Another Story To Tell 5. The Way It Had To Be 6. Emergence 7. Not Afraid Pt. 1 8. Bridge Over Troubled Water CD 2: Danger 1. Not Afraid Pt. 2 2. Beyond The Years

  17. New album out now. Pretty good stuff. Review from melodymakermagazine.com (by Chadwick Easton): The amazing thing about Jeff Coffey is that with his voice he can sculpt any song into a momentous, hit-making experience. Be it ballad or a full-court press pop rock song, Coffey brings a distinct harmony to every note. In the triumphant album This Time Around Coffey once again proves time and time again his voice is electric and something special. He’s also a generous storyteller – a natural front man. In other words, these songs go over the top because of the Coffey factor. The story of me and you, Coffey sings in the opening track, “Black and Blue”. It’s the perfect out-of-the-gate song to get the listener ready for what’s to come. Coffey’s core sound is a mixture of Journey (lots of parallels to Steve Perry honestly), Dennis DeYoung (formerly of Styx), The Storm, even the early nineties rockers, Matthew and Gunnar Nelson (NELSON). If you’re a fan of Jim Peterik (The Ides of March, Survivor, and songwriter for .38 Special and more) and Brian Howe (Bad Company) then this is also right up your alley. It’s already a perfect blend of folk-pop (think the Hollies versus the blues rock we grew accustomed to in the early 90s). Feels so good to call you mine, he sings in the Americana/pop country flavored “All I Need Is Love”. I don’t need a bottle to chase the clouds away, I’m not asking for much, all I need is love, he sings. Already into the second track and his crooner skills are highlighted by romanticism in his lyrics. He’s not a one story guy, though. In the next track, “Someday” he bites into, what I think, is the general unrest of the world that we’ve experienced so much of in 2020 and now into 2021. Someday we’ll find we’re all the same, he sings. He has a strong mix of bravado, and modesty in his voice. He’s not singing from a place of arrogance in this song. This record is full of displays of Coffey’s vocal prowess. It’s no wonder he at one time was the lead singer of the legendary band Chicago. He’s also currently touring with former Eagles’ guitarist Don Felder. Coffey’s innate sense of rock and roll and timing is incredible. He proves it again in the excellent “Careful What You Wish For” and Far Away”. In both instances, he gives the listener so much, with grace and complete control of the song. He sets you at ease all the while he’s entertaining you and constantly connecting on a higher emotional level. Songs like the ones on This Time Around remind listeners that music is organic and from that live band and full band experience, a beautiful, magical thing happens. That not only never gets old, but it also can’t be replicated with a computer or ProTools. This is real talent. Coffey is as vibrant of a rock/pop singer as you can listen to. He’s just what the world needs for a soundtrack to take us into the next year. Tracks: 1. Black And Blue 2. All I Need Is Love 3. Someday 4. This Time Around 5. Long Way Down 6. Record Player 7. Home 8. Careful What You Wish For 9. Tonight 10. Right Now 11. Far Away 12. Got To Get Away www.jeffcoffey.com www.facebook.com/JeffCoffeyMusic
