  3. Got my copy on Friday, and am thoroughly enjoying it. For me, the overall sound is somewhere between Kix/Funny Money (which aren't very far apart), but it all has that "jangly" sound you're used to hearing from Steve. Good stuff!
  4. We are saddened to hear the news of our brother Johnny Solinger. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and fans. Godspeed Singo. Say hello to Scrappy for us. Much love, Rachel Bolan ZP Theart Snake Sabo Rob Hammersmith Scotti Hill
  5. Soul Sirkus Wasn’t mind blowing, but I enjoyed it.
  6. KIX FRONTMAN STEVE WHITEMAN RELEASES FIRST SOLO ALBUM, YOU’RE WELCOME ON JULY 2, 2021 KIX IS CURRENTLY ON THE ROAD THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY AND HEADLINING M3 ROCK FESTIVAL JULY 2 ____________________ For the first time in his 35+ year history of as the lead singer and front man of KIX, Steve Whiteman will release his first ever solo album, You’re Welcome, on July 2, 2021. The 12-song album was co-produced by Whiteman along with trusted collaborators Brad Divens, Jimmy Chalfant, and Bob Paré; it was recorded and mixed by Divens at Fixintogetmixin Studio. Though the recent pandemic essentially derailed the last year-plus of KIX’s touring plans, it gave Steve the chance to settle in at home for a critical period of time and vocal rest, the results of which he was able to channel directly into writing and recording You’re Welcome. If you feel like the album title sounds familiar, you're right! Steve explains, “It comes from a bit I do during KIX shows where I ask our crowds for a response. I demand they reply, ‘You’re welcome’ every time I say, ‘Thank you!’” And if the cover art looks familiar — it depicts Steve’s signature at the top, and a large, self-drawn stick figure underneath it. “Yeah, that started when KIX’s first album came out and the label had us do all these local in-stores,” Steve recounts. “It was madness, because we would be sitting there for like two or three hours just signing albums. People were always saying things like, ‘Write something special to me’ or ‘do something special,’ and I just ran out of ideas. Finally, I just started doing this little stick man as a portrait — and it kinda stuck. When people ask for my autograph now, they want my stick man — and now everybody can get it on the cover of my album.” https://www.rightrocksportswear.com/kix/steve-youre-welcome I’ve been sitting on these songs for a couple of years now. Without being on the road recently, I finally had the opportunity to do something with them. I was fortunate to hook up with Brad Divens, who has a studio in his house, and we got to work. I played all the instruments on many of the tracks, with help from Jimmy Chalfant on drums, Bob Paré and Dean Cramer on guitars, and Brad on bass. I even played bass on 2 tracks. It was great to have a passion project during COVID, and we all had a great time making this record. I’m very proud of it. “YOU’RE WELCOME!” - Steve Whiteman YOU’RE WELCOME 1. Easy 2. 7. BUMP Considering 17 people participated in Part I, I'm guessing this one got lost in the shuffle earlier this week.
  8. Probably my favorite HS track!
  9. The final piece of the Who Ruled the 80s trilogy... winners from all 3 polls to face off later in the ultimate 80s showdown!
  10. For me, it was between the new guys, Finland (Brother Firetribe), and the seasoned pros, Denmark (Pretty Maids). I had to go with Denmark; their goalkeeping and backline is always solid (drums and bass) and their midefield (guitar) and forward (Ronnie) is always phenomenal! LOVE the footie theme!
  11. The more I think about this, if I were to answer this poll today, I would probably pick Survivor... lol, but those 4 Journey releases, wow... it's a close call... VERY close.
  12. Loving all the responses! Yeah, I think at one point I had over 200 band names in front of me in a Notepad file... I may have accidentally omitted some obvious choices here and there (they all started bleeding together), BUT, they WILL pop up later on. ;-) In all honesty, the only choice I REALLY had to think about was the AOR section; SOOOOO much good shit there it was really hard to choose.... I mean look at some of the releases... Foreigner: 4, Agent Provacateur, Inside Information Jefferson Starship/Starship: Modern Times, Winds of Change, Nuclear Furniture, Knee Deep in the Hoopla, No Protection, Love Among the Cannibals (Damn, that's an impressive 80s discography!) Journey: Departure, Escape, Frontiers, Raised On Radio (classics!) Queen: The Game, Flash Gordon Soundtrack, Hot Space, The Works, A Kind of Magic, The Miracle REO Speedwagon: Hi Infidelity, Good Trouble, Wheels Are Turnin', Life As We Know It Rick Springfield: Working Class Dog, Success Hasn't Spoiled Me Yet, Living in Oz, Hard to Hold Soundtrack, Tao, Rock of Life Survivor: Premonition, Eye of the Tiger, Caught in the Game, Vital Signs, When Seconds Count, Too Hot to Sleep (Holy crap what a hot streak they had!) Toto: Turn Back, Toto IV, Isolation, Fahrenheit, The Seventh One Geez, it was truly a wonderful time to be alive music wise!
  13. Pick who you think was the best from each grouping... eventually there will be a final poll where all the winners face off. The main criteria I used to include these bands was... 1. Had to have at least TWO studio releases in the 80s (this is why bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Winger, Warant, Danger Danger, etc... will be omitted) 2. People outside of Heavy Harmonies have to have at least a chance of knowing who the band is...
  14. Simply a matter of tastes; I like Led Zeppelin, but I love Dokken, and would choose to listen to them anytime over Zep, regardless of how influential/important Zep were to music history.
  15. Stumbled across this by complete accident earlier, and am enjoying the hell out of it!
