I like that, as a melo-death band I wasn't expecting the clean vocals.

Growls only work for me if they're offset by clean vocals as well.  For instance I think the growls work really well with Epica and are fine with Amaranthe.   However a full of album of growls with no offset becomes tiresome; so I never bothered to listen to their debut album, even though I liked what they were doing musically on the singles I'd heard previously.
