70s 101: 101 Essential Albums

Recommended Posts

Same rules, 101 albums from 101 artists. Must not appear in 80s or 90s lists. (Might have made some different choices in 80s had I thought about that earlier). No best ofs or live albums. New rule: Must be influential on the 80s hard rock genres (as not all included albums in this list could be considered hard rock).

Year count:

1970 = 11, 1971 = 9, 1972 = 10, 1973 = 19, 1974 = 6, 1975 = 7, 1976 = 9, 1977 = 13, 1978 = 9, 1979 = 8.

All in all, if you were starting from scratch and bought the 303 albums in the 3 decade lists, you'd have a really good base of a record collection!
