  1. It appears this person was impersonating Brian Jack here. Selling autographed copies of one of his solo cd's. Seems he ended up being a fraud. How do you find out what city he is from? I have a feeling it's my friend from before that screwed me out of $50 for one. I haven't sent a money order since then Any info? JL
  2. See this is where you & I differ my friend! I don't hear the same quality in Dynasty as this one. And honestly, I have listened to this one more than the first six Kiss albums combined. To me, the first six run together & sound the same. Well, except maybe Love Gun which is my fave '70's Kiss album but that's another story.... When I listen to Unmasked I'm not looking for Soul...I hear quality playing by Gene, melodic songs & as you said, more Frehley than usual. I also have a question though that you may know....how much did Carr play on unmasked or was it someone else. I don't believe for a second that Criss played on the whole album... JL
  3. I recently score a '89 press of this classic cd and wondered what other Kiss fans thought about this album. To me, this is the first album that sounded different from what Kiss had done before. Power-Pop at it's best imo. I could hear Butch Walker covering most of these songs on here. Interesting twist, eh? Your thoughts are welcome! JL Oh yeah, I went with Is That You even though it is a tough choice. Could have gone Shandi, Talk to me, Tomorrow, etc....Love this cd.... JL
  4. On I married S. Bach on Vh1, he said the band wrote the music for the whole next lp and just dropped it off to him to write the lyrics, he got pissed and thought the band should be together during the process of writing both music and lyrics and that was the beginning of the end. Sounds like there's more than just any one reason he was kicked out/quit. Bach hardly wrote any lyrics for any Skid Row album, did he? I thought he co-wrote about 2 or 3 on 'Slave to the grind' and a couple more on 'Subhuman race'... but that was about is, wasn't it? Wasn't it Bolan and Snake who did the majority of songwriting? I also quite like 'Subhuman race'. IMO, by far their weakest disc because it sounds like such a HUGE step back musically... but songs like 'Breakin' down' (one of my faves ever!), 'Into another' and 'Eileen' are great. The rest, like 'My enemy' and stuff is pretty cool if in the right mood. Come on now Geoff. You can say you don't like it as much as the others but to say it's musically a step back is crazy. It is miles ahead of the others as far as that goes... JL No way mate... sorry, but I really disagree with you there. I'm not a dashing musician myself so cannot comment on fact, but to me I was stricken by how good 'Slave to the grind' is. Heavy, melodic, awesome riffs and musical arrangements, plus that killer production. (I also love the debut too). But, to me, even though I like the disc, 'Subhuman race' sounded a lot, sloppier, for want of a better word. The guitar was nowhere near as melodic, or well-played, IMO. More downtuned riffage and playing, without the "fancy" work of earlier albums. The vocals were not even on the same wavelength as the first 2 (though I still love Bach's vocie on it) and the overall sound and production was more "muffled" and definately, IMO, a HUGE step back from 'Slave to the grind'. Just my opinion, of course, mate. Your opinion is always welcome brother...even if you are wrong I just can't understand it I guess. To me, sonically this album sound wise was way ahead of the other two. I love Slave, and I see alot of similar things but I like the heaviness of Subhuman Race. I'll take the slow, heavy riffs as opposed to the candy-like debut anyday...let the slaying begin! JL
  5. Based on what Wes told me as far as what you like, you would love this cd. Let me know if you need me to send it to you on www.yousendit.com JL

  7. I love Subhuman Race. "Beat yourself Blind", "Breakin' Down", "Into Another", "My Enemy", "Firesign", "Bonehead", "Face against my Soul", and "Elieen" are all killer songs. Yeah it was darker than the previous two but still very very good stuff. Agreed. SHR is my fave Skid Row album. Just pure power & aggression!!!! JL
  8. Plain & simple...they just didn't get along. Bas has a personality that most people wouldn't be able to deal with. Once the slandering starts in the media, at a certain point you can't go back. It's just too late. Very sad though because their albums are excellent! JL
  9. Save our souls, Wildside & Kickstart for me!
  10. It looks like were the only ones that picked that one. Right back atcha H&H So when are we gonna see polls for UNMASKED and MUSIC FROM THE ELDER? I'll try to get to those later this week. First I have to do Crazy Nights, Hot in the Shade, Revenge, and one of my personel favs in Creatures of the Night. Maybe I'll even get to the solo albums someday, because I'm sure everyone on here has been looking forward to a Peter Criss fav song poll. I was kinda being sarcastic but if you really wanna poll UNMASKED and/or THE ELDER, have at it... The Elder blows but Unmasked is a very good cd. I like every track on it actually... JL
  11. King of Hearts for me. I must say though, this is one of Gene's best song selection. I love all of his on here! JL
  12. God, what a great album! Without hesitation...I've Had Enough gets my vote. Just kick ass!!!!!!!! JL
  13. I love that lyric in that song "Cause when I go through her it's just like a hot knife through butter". Classic Gene. This was his some of his best material of the 80's. He didn't have any great songs again until the Revenge album. That's cuz he was too busy being a movie star, a record label mogul and a producer... Paul Stanley was pretty much driving the KISS ship from ANIMALIZE up until REVENGE Umm, excuse me...are you both on weed? No good songs again until Revenge???I beg to differ (as usual ) Burn Bitch Burn, Secretly cruel, Hell or High Water, Thief in the Night, Betrayed, Somewhere Between Heaven & Hell...I could go on but I won't... 15. I went Rockstar because the production was better.... JL
  16. Me too my friend! I love Ride Child Ride...great lyrics & just an over all good vibe. This is possibly Poison's best album.... JL
  17. Actually, my favorite song is on the Japan version. Come to think of it, my two favorite songs are both bonus tracks. Too Many Dreams & Keep One Heart..... JL
  18. I wonder if the re-issue of the Defcon will be silver this time around? I have the other one and it's freaking amazing! If it comes out silver, I will sell my other one and buy it in a heartbeat! JL
  19. Had to go with Don't Blame It on love for this one. Another D2 album with all killer no filler..... JL
  20. Bang Bang for w/ Under the gun close behind..... JL
