  1. Well, I will be able to tell you soon. Here's an e-mail I received after I e-mailed him back. This is a stand up, class act guy........ --- you don t have to buy it i ll send it to you ! my gift to you . please contact me and give me your address the cd is for fans to enjoy i had to bake all those old tapes remaster them and or remix them it s not for the money its for the fun of it .... Take care , Terry Ilous I am floored........what a gesture! JL
  2. Just got an e-mail from Terry. Here you have it folks.......... --- hello thank you for keeping track on what s out there in the bootleg world this is the ONLY authorized demo cd i know there is one out there and my attorney is aware of it ... we ll see with that sometimes one can have a bad relationship with another and i understand that s the case with you and SAM i respect both of you SAM is a friend of mine and sure can t be involved with you guys prob no one will represent my cd exclusively the fans will be able to get it soon on all sites Sam is helping me sell it for a little while i m so busy working on another already ! the cd will available next week and them will for for sell on all sites like perris mayhem etc etc we all need to stick together don t hesitate to contact me Take care , Terry Ilous http://acousticoutcasts.com http://www.internationalrockshow.com http://www.xyzmusic.com I'm disappointed. Can't tell for sure but it looks like Sam is going to sell the "Tinted" cd's for Terry until Terry makes them available elsewhere. I replied to the e-mail and refrained from Sam bashing out of respect for Terry. I told him that myself and many others would gladly purchase the cd if it is ever silver pressed and sold from someone other than Sam. I also went on to tell him thank you for all the great music he creates and that all three studio albums are real gems. I apologize to Sam & his friends for speculating about Terry not knowing of this. At least Sam is being upfront on this one. That's the way the cookie crumbles....... JL
  3. I don't expect anything from you Lonnie. There was nothing grade school about what I did. I never intended to use your name. I just wanted opinions about a situation hoping you would read them and do the right thing. YOU choose to bring your name into this. I want nothing from you. Lets just move on. JL <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not to mention you all the sudden get an e-mail for an obi. You just now happen to find one after five months? Please.............. JL <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No offense JL, but I can definitely see Lonnie's point about grade school actions, because I think your last comment was grade-school-ish. You've admitted, and many of us know, that Lonnie is a stand-up guy and been a great seller/trader. So, now he finds your coveted OBI, and you're going to mock him for it? There's a reason why CDs with the OBI strip cost more, and that's because they're harder to find. So, be a man, and give Lonnie the benefit of the doubt, take your OBI strip and move on. This all just sounds like a misunderstanding, and I feel it was totally unappropriate to even bring the subject up here. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks, I'll sleep better tonight knowing that......... JL <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you don't want people's opinions, then don't post your questions. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't have a problem with you posting your opinion, but don't post your opinion if you don't want to see my reaction. JL

  7. Well, I did make an attempt to keep this from getting nasty but it looks like with bringing up selling cd-rs and all, (which is an attempt to get off the subject) it won't be avoided. First off, unless every original version (9 trax) is indivisually numbered, the obi you had would have been fine. Your true feeling is that you did nothing wrong and don't want to take care of the customer. Lon, you bid on every Lion cd on Ebay so I would like to think you could find an OBI within 5 months time. Secondly, I did not say give me a cd for the obi instead. I said if it would be easier I would take a cd, nothing rare, just something I need to fill my collection. I demanded nothing which is how you make it sound. Third, I did not threaten you. In fact I have all of our e-mails if others need to see them. I think five months of patience is a lot more than others would wait. I will not deny that I am sick of waiting. This has not been taken care of in a timely manner. Even you would have to admit that. Fourthly, If you all the sudden came up with two copies (even though it's hard to find one in five months time) why am I just now finding this out? Interesting.... Last, I never said anything bad about you in the post. I want to avoid that as much as possible. I believe it was a misunderstanding in the beginning. I too have had a ton of great transactions with you Lonnie. I would have always bought from you. You have always done right by me. That's why I trusted you with this. I didn't even leave negative feedback. Now you want to bring things up that have nothing to do with the situation just so you can throw mud? I admit I sold 4-5 cd-rs on Ebay. I had one copy of each and they were cd's I bought off Ebay before. That is irrelevent. Would I do it again? No I would not. I learned that it's not worth my rep on HH. Comparing me to Sam? Last time I checked I was not making 100 copies of everything and claiming they were re-released. If you want to be an ass, that's fine. I won't be involved in a mud slinging session. I wish you the best of luck with your future transactions but unfortunately I won't be buying anything else from you. JL
  8. Here's a message I sent to T-Bone asking his opinion. I am leaving T-Bones response off because I am not at liberty to voice his opinion for him out of respect for him. Please read below........... Hey T-Bone, I won't use the name of the person yet because I am giving him a little bit longer to make good but I want to run something by you. I won a Lion - Dangerous Attraction cd about five months ago. The pic listed in the auction showed an obi. It also did not list in the auction that the obi was missing. I bid on it because it had the obi. When I received the cd, there was no obi. I contacted the person and they said they accidentally used the wrong pic for the auction. No problem, except I would not have bought it without the obi. Since he or she frequents HH I decided to give the person some time to find one with no rush. Months go by and nothing. I check Ebay one day to see what the person is s elling and guess what? There I see a Lion cd w/ the pic of the obi and also listed on the description, obi. I send him a message asking him why he won't just give me that one. He declined and refused to do so. I wait another month and still no word. So I offer to accept a cd or no real value, just somehting I need to fill my collection to make up for the obi and call it even. He refused that also. What is your take on this? I don't feel like they did me right. I just wanted what I bid on. I think you will be surprised at who the seller is. Comments? Thanks JL I have decided to leave this persons name off here because all in all he has always been a good seller and, I thought friend. Now I have had an opinion change about that person and that is too bad. I have always been a fast payer and always had good luck with this person. This is out of character for him/her. I would just like opinions from others so that it may persuade this person to do the right thing. Or maybe persuade me to let it go and realize I'm the dick. Feel free to be honest. Thanks JL PS - I do not want to throw mud please.
  9. See above message........... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Everytime someone here trades CDRs they are in most cases doing the same thing they blame Sam for. That's not even close to the same thing and you know it. Dan, I said the same thing in my e-mail. I told Terry that if it is true, good luck and sorry for bothering you with it. Why would Sam get to release this stuff when XYZ could get some sort of record deal themselves or release it themselves? I'm not buying it........just like Sam's cheapass bootlegs. JL
  10. While I did not receive any response from the band, I did receive the following from Sam: I see that Sam's the same personable, professional guy as ever... I'd be proud to have him representing my band. -Dan <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Dan--I sent an e-mail also and got this response back.......... --- i m dealng with it as we speak Take care , Terry Ilous Looks like dickhead is truly a low life, if there was ever any doubt. JL
  11. I just got this e-mail from a friend on the list. Check this shit out......... Hello!! In response to the unauthorized bootleg released by Bobby Feiffer (original guitarist for XYZ) , RETROSPECT RECORDS and XYZ officially announce the new release by XYZ titled "Forbidden Demos - 1985-1990". This release features 18 previously unreleased tracks and rare demos from the greatest decade ever!! XYZ is EXCLUSIVELY represented by Retrospect Records and we are excited to finally get these songs out to the world , the way they were meant to be heard. Look for the new XYZ album Sept. 13 - ONLY available from Retrospect!! ROCK ON! Thanks for your support! Sam McCaslin CEO-President Retrospect Records My question is, does Terry know about this? JL
  12. I have to be honest, I miss some of those three-page posts filled with more four-letter words than a 70's Steve Martin skit. I was on the edge of my seat with every "refresh" hoping someone had responded. Good times... damn good times! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm with ya on that, now THAT was entertainment. In all seriousness (well okay, as serious as I ever get), I'd have to say that IMHO which means pretty much nothing as long as Sam has gotten the okay from the bands, it's his business and he can run it however he wants. I agree that it would be nice to have silver CD's at a reasonable price, but if he wants to up his profit margins that's really up to him. Looks like people are buying the stuff so I guess the public has spoken from what I can see. I don't think you could really call it unethical unless the bands really don't know what's happening but that doesn't appear to be the case. Isn't this kinda what capitalism/free markets are all about. That being said, ain't no way I'm putting out $50 for a green cd-r, but it's obviously meeting a need somewhere or it wouldn't sell at all. It's not like he's doing it to make this stuff available to everyone who wants it out of the goodness of his heart and for all that is right in the world (although his website does kinda give you that impression... ), he's doing it to make money. It is what it is IMHO. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well said JL
  13. Re-issues are fine as long as they are silver pressed and the band is aware. If the band is aware then that's great. But why would I pay that much for a green tinted cd-r? JL
  14. But....you have time to post his emails in public forums. Now why is that, Koogs?? I know Sam's reputation....and I know how 'truthful'..or 'untruthful' he can be. I've known him for close to 10 years now. I'm not defending his character and I know he is no 'angel'..... My point of my post....and it still stands, is that you continually posting negative things about Retrospect affects, not only Sam....but the bands themselves. And I thought that you were against that? If you cared about the bands, then you would leave your 'personal' battles with Sam......as personal. That makes a bit of sense....now doesn't it??? Posting emails, etc. in a public forum where the individual in question cannot even respond to those postings is where on your list of things to do in your busy schedule??? What prompts you to do that??? What agenda...or reason would you have for doing so in a public forum?? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Probably because when he use to post is was like reading a 12 year old's book of curse words............. JL
  15. Lindsay...I dunno...I DO think their are people who are against these things being reissued. I've heard everything from "My collection will devalue"....to people worrying that their eBay sales will take a hit....so, I do believe that there are some who are opposed to the reissues. I do agree with you, that it would definitely be more economical for Retrospect to sell their items differently. But..then again, it depends on the type of contract they have with their respective bands. Just from a cashflow standpoint alone it would benefit Retrospect....but this is his baby and he'll handle it how he wants. Remember...ultimately, the success of his sales will determine whether or not he even stays in business. And as any owner of a company will attest...the idea is to make money...but you have to stay in business to do so!!! LOL Time will tell...... Maybe you can ask BrianJ of this message board. He has recently signed with Retrospect to have his material reissued. Maybe he can shed some light onto why..or how bands are 'ok' with how Retrospect is handling sales. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not to mention that a silver pressing would help JL
  16. Look at their newest "re-issue" http://cgi.ebay.com/HEARTLESS-s-t-CD-1990-...1QQcmdZViewItem JL
  17. Oh yeah dammit. It's Aprilz Fool. Either way, it's a cheap ass cd-r that I wouldn't have bought otherwise. I'm still pissed............ JL
  18. I bought their fuckin' cd on their site and got a Maxell cd-r copy. Bunch of bullshit since it's not listed that way. I sent them an e-mail but I'm sure it won't matter. Pisses me off......... JL
