  1. Anything over $5 for a 2nd hand CD is way too much for me but I still got this: TORA TORA - Surprise Attack ($6.61 including tax) The music is really good, the only problem is that the disc has some VERY visible lines. But the sound doesn't skip. So, I guess I'll have to live with it. Also found some great titles, but again the problem is the very noticeable lines on the CD. Titles like Mindbomb (S/T), Sheer Terrror (thrash band) and Savatage's Siren. Also, because of lack of funds!
  2. I can Remember the first 8-track I bought...Kiss Destroyer...a week after it came out I think.. So, tell me all about it. Grandpa!
  3. MASTERPIECE ? "80s rock by the numbers, nothing special."DEFINITELY! Just look at the song titles, I mean, "Wild Young and Crazy"?, "Bad Boy Breakout"?, "Crank The Heat Up"?. I know that hair bands in the late 80s and the early 90s are a-dime-a-dozen but there were still others who came out, though don't have a stitch of originality, still has that IT that can push them a little further and rise above the heap. But I won't call them bad, just nothing special.
  4. Sister Morphine - S/T (I don't care about the reviews, I enjoyed the music. The guys know how to rock!)
  5. Drove a friend and accompanied her in a thrift store. She paid for the following: Bruce Dunlap - Los Animales Mr. Big - Lean Into It At a local CD store: Dave Uhrich - S/T 21 Guns - Salute
  6. Only 4 days to go before Tower Records closes it's doors for good so, I dropped by and got these: 2 DIE 4 - s/t $5.10 HARDLINE - Double Eclipse $2.00 And $7.00+ is already tooooo much for me to spend nowadays. Ahh, to be poor but with this kind of thirst for "new" music.
  7. Jean Beauvoir - Drums Along The Mohawk; Mint condition
  8. Do you have $50,000 tucked in in your wallet? You just bought an entire collection.
  9. Absolutely right! Floodgates were opened by this album. Though, Hysteria sold a truckload and 1987 had it's share - they were already expected to sell because people were waiting to hear more or expecting another Slippery.
  10. My very first buy after more than six months - and it's just $1.08 (including tax) COLLISION - S/T (mint condition) There were actually alot of goodies (or at least, alot of titles that I don't have) in the CD Trader where I bought this. But with very limited budget... this was the only one that I can afford.
  11. Probably my last free and sealed CD. ICRI'S WITCH - In For The Kill (1995) Maybe I'll just put this on sale - really need the money.
  12. Totally agree with Dave Meniketti. If there will be a Hard Rock/Metal Guitar Masterclass, this guy should be invited to teach. Buckethead?... this is one unbelievably fast guitarist. But he's one of those incredibly fast guitarists that totally DIDN'T GET IT (IMO). He's so fast that sometimes the notes I hear are already digitized.
  13. MORATTI - Desolation (1995 different catalog number than the one listed - this has PAM 9556) Sealed and Free
  14. Hey, aMetalhead1966! Yeah, I've seen him live (not really live, only on television) and the first time I noticed his strings, IT BLOWED ME AWAY! So, if he ever did strummed some power chords (and you wrote that you've tried it before), doesn't the palm flesh get in the way? Did he (or you) strummed upwards?
  15. Eric is a Founding father of rock guitar..He has a lot of great songs and he Can Play very well...he just doesn't do a thing for me...a lot of his early stuff was taken from Buddy Guy,Freddy King,Albert King,BB King,Hubert Sumlin,Jimmy Reed..the list is endless... when I first started playin I went back to were ALL Rock Guitar Playin came from..i.e. the Blues..so That is my foundation..then on to Hendrix,Page Beck,Bolin,Trower.. Then on to A Young,Nugent,Travers,Van Halen,Malmsteen,Blackmore,Schenker,Uli Roth.. IMO Eric is good, but I just Personally don't like his playin....But hey I know people who hate Hendrix...and to me that is just Crazy..but to each his own... The foundation is indeed good, aMetalhead1966 ! Eric can play very well, indeed. So, well that I don't consider him a blues purist anymore. Because of the way he solos, which is faaaar more different than Albert King, B.B. King and Buddy Guy. HE DOES MORE. That's why many (and I) consider him one of the best. Yeah, to each his own. But to those people that you've known who hate Hendrix... yeah, that's Crazy. I consider him 12 to 15 years ahead of his time. About Diglio, I know it's not fair for me to say that he's not a natural 'coz I've only heard 3 songs of his band. I just remember when I first heard Blaze and Bettencourt I just knew that these are not ordinary guitarists. Well, I guess I have to hear some more of him. Man, let's keep this thread going!
  16. huh? Sometimes, we must check the foundation of our house to see that they're good. This is the VERY first time that I read that Clapton is WAY Over-rated. But I respect that.
  17. Yeah on Old Dio ,Viv shines...though 3/4 of his licks are DIRECT Rip-offs from Gary Moore. But Viv says that he was forced to play that way and now dis-owns his past..so IMO that makes him Average...plus what in the hell has he done lately?? THERE WERE NUMEROUS, AND I MEAN NUMEROUS guitarists who played in the 80s that disowned their past/or style. Not very surprised about that with Viv. I've also read that about Jake E. Lee with the playing he did with Ozzy. But hey, they got the gig with their "they-wanted-that-crappy-style" of playing! Viv won the DIO gig over John Sykes with his Gary Moore style (and who can blame him with that style, he LOVES G. Moore). And one thing is important, those playing that they dissed were recorded for posterity and gave them money and popularity. Man! I thought we're talking about NATURALS here, Warren De Martini has always been good. But a NATURAL like Andy Timmons, Akira Takasaki...? There will always be other names that will appear but some of them had endorsements, Guitar mag covers, articles, or some kind of recognition. I just think Derek Frigo never had any of those (but I'm not sure). I remember Akira having his ad/endorsement.... And yes, Dave Meniketti... that's one classy player that's also an obvious NATURAL.
  18. AAAAHHHH! My favorite topic! Haven't seen too many concerts but when I heard Kirk Hammet live, the solo that he did on 'ONE' was very different from the tap-happy solo on record (last part). The most under-rated guitarist(s) for me are: Derek Frigo - I don't think he ever got a Guitar Player/One/Praticing... cover on his own. Or at least even a monthly article (I'm not sure with this). At least, Steve Lynch, Reb Beach had their own. Alex Skolnick was declared the best in Thrash, Rex Carroll was recognized as the best in White/Christian Metal but Frigo didn't received any recognition for his virtuosity. Bruce Kulick - How can anyone be recognized if he's beside Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons. But definitely, a virtuoso. The guy in Tuff Luck. But to say that Vivian Campbell was over-rated... please listen to old DIO records. Phil Collen, now that's average. AND STILL THE MOST OVER-RATED OF ALL... Warren De Martini. (now tell me he's a virtuoso!)
  19. And the story of freebies continues... the CHANCE - S/T (not SEALED but in Mint condition - 6 song EP Skydoor Records) DEFENDER - 2 N FRO (SEALED - same guys that released "Written... Hard Rock Records)
  20. Native Tongue can never ever be accepted as one of Poison's album after establishing itself as a glam band with 3 albums & videos to support 'em. And they (Poison) have never had the reputation as great musicians (Brett himself admits that soooo many times). But with an album like Native Tongue, respect from critics is inevitable. If another band released THE EXACT SAME album, it will definitely (at that time) received accolades of no end.
  21. I recognized that red faced guy with big teeth. I just bumped into him at day care this morning.
  22. Because I don't have the same amount of money to buy CDs you guy have, I just settled to receiving free. My fifth SEALED, FREE INDIE: S'aint America - S/T (1991 Me-N-Him)
