Journey - Separate Ways cover (by Ricky Shindig)
GarrisonDreams replied to J.S.M's topic in AOR and Hard Rock
Pretty awesome! I often fantasize about starting an AOR, but I know nothing about making music. -
"Maybe Tomorrow" by Zaza

I love the sample from The Matrix at the beginning

Holy crap! I never thought this day would come!

Awesome! I got my copy last week. About a year ago, they said announced that they were re-recording their songs, but I'm not sure if they're still doing it.

He was on American Idol? -
Dreams. They recorded a bunch of songs between 1989-1991. AOR Heaven eventually released their music in 2013, and in 2023, Bad Reputation records did another re-release with an additional CD. Somebody already posted Dream's most popular song, "The Fear of Being Alone," in this thread, but here are a couple other good songs by them:
-
"Hold Back The Night" by Garrison. They're one of the two bands which I named my profile after, and I actually discovered this forum while trying to find more information about them!
-
"Still in Love" and "Sweet Melody" by Lancia
-
"Listen to Your Heart" and "Love Prevails" by Biloxi

I love that song! Here's another good song by them:

Stranger in This Town - Ritchie Sambora

"Abandon" (1988) by Dare

I just discovered this song, and I immediately knew it belongs in this thread.

Shit, that would be awesome! I still remember the first time I heard their music. My parents were driving me home, and "High Enough" began playing on the radio. I remember thinking "damn, this is the most epic power ballad I've ever heard!"

Why Can't You Trust Me - Steel Panther

This is actually one of the first AOR albums I found when I began researching the genre. I would listen to this album all the time back in high school; I have very fond memories of it.
-
And Paul Dean did a cover too in 1989

Glenn Gulia you say? But in all seriousness, Synthwave isn't my cup of tea either, although I really like the visual art style
-
Yeah, Bonfire recorded their own version after KISS scrapped it.

Oh, I'm sure, and here's the part that'll really knock your socks off: I discovered most of the music I like on my own! My parents mostly listen to alternative and punk rock, but my mother introduced me to a couple of Bon Jovi songs when I was eight-years-old, and I've been hooked ever since then. I mostly discovered new bands by looking up a songs on YouTube and then watching all the related videos. That's how I know about so many obscure AOR bands, but wasn't familiar with bands such as ZZ Top.

Yeah, it's kind of like "Running in the Night" by Triumph and "Go" by Signal, except those two songs don't share any common lyrics.
