I didn't get into this one the first time around, and after listening to a few of those tracks it still isn't doing anything for me unfortunately. Maybe with a different singer I'd have a more favorable opinion
-
Am i gettin confused? Didnt they have a black dude singing or is that a different band?
I think you're right and I thought the original singer's vocals were the best aspect of their debut. The guitarists vocal perfomance and arrangement of the G & R cover was not good at all, but I guess we'll see how him taking over vocal duties for the band turns out

In my top 5 from that year and 2nd favorite from the band, behind Pull

Zzzzzz
agreed, liked some of their earlier stuff but this one didn't do much for me
-
I love Rob's vocals, and Vivian is a very versatile player, but outside of a few solid tracks on the debut nothing from their prior efforts really stuck with me. This new track isn't bad, but it isn't something I'd come back to much.

I like the song just fine. Kool solo.
I guess enough time has passed that you can reference RP in a crash n burn type scenario. Probably wouldn't have been taken similarly if they would have swapped out RP for say Kurt Cobain or Chris Cornell or even Robyn Williams.
From what I read the band members (of Santa Cruz) are fans of River Phoenix and wanted to point to River's legacy living on even after his passing. They then drew a bit of a parallel to them being away for awhile and coming back strong. The title inititally gives a different impression, but that is my understanding. Anyway, as far as the song, not bad

Gave this one a few listens tonight based on the high praise it had gotten. The band captures the late 70's rock sound really well. I think I might have even heard some Pablo Cruise in there. It is a good album, with no filler to be found and will likely make my top 20 for the year. I'm just not feeling it quite as much as you guys.

Good stuff as usual Freddy. And a belated Happy Birthday to you, I hope it was a good one

A few songs off the latest album from this female fronted, modern, melodic metal band.

Looks like the list is almost cut in half, so odds are getting better, how about Enuff Z'Nuff? Did you have the opportunity to see them on one of their first tours?

I stumbled upon these guys recently and i am really liking what i hear , a bit of too close to touch in their sound although a bit heavier

Not bad, I think they'd be a lot better if they lost the alternate, screamo vocals and just left it with the primary vocalist

I haven't heard their latest release, but have listened to their prior couple albums. Those were all decent, with a couple of solid tracks on each. Well played and well produced. I consider most of their songs to be melodic metal. So a heavier style musically compared to the Phantom 5 album. They use several guest vocalists and musicians on each record. I believe Claus is only on that one track.

I liked it as well, just not as many standout tracks as their prior two albums

This sample track from previosuly unreleased recordings of the band Bugzy sounds pretty good. A limited release cd is supposed to be avalable in early June.
From Divebomb Records:
The roots of BUGZY date back to late-1983, when 19-year-old guitarist/vocalist William “Bugsy” Boyer, keyboard player Franki Gorgo, and drummer Bob Kimmel crossed paths...By 1985, Bob and Franki had struck out to create their own original material in an attempt to sell songs to a major artist or publishing company...a short-lived production deal with producer Tony Bongiovi led the group to record a few tracks in New York City’s historic Power Station studio; and in 1990, a production/management deal with L.A. record producer John Ryan (Santana, etc.) resulted in three years of nonstop work on new material with an assortment of session musicians. Into the mid-’90s, with the help of hit record producer Chris Lord-Alge, BUGZY was courted by no less than three major labels—RCA, Polygram, and EMI—but the trio’s decade of hard work would shockingly fail to yield the release of one single piece of music…until now…Divebomb Records is proud to shed light on BUGZY‘s Plan B: 17 tracks of spectacularly catchy AOR/hard rock culled from the band’s extensive personal archives, and graciously rescued from permanent obscurity -
Very cool, I look forward to hearing the complete recordings of this

New single "1992" just dropped.
I liked their first two albums and "What If...", but unfortunately this track off the upcoming release isn't doing much for me
-
That is sad to hear, he had a distinctive voice and seemed to be a very down to earth and genuinely nice person. Another talented artist gone too soon. My heart goes out to his family.
-
I have heard some of their songs over the years and was always impressed with the guitarists, but never bought any of their albums. These tunes sound pretty good and if they have a little more variation in the tempo and style now, then I might check out this new album.

Thanks for sharing, it is interesting hearing his versions of those songs after First Signals, I enjoyed the songs and look forward to checking out more of his work

I was going through this list of David Lee Roth videos and Shy Boy won't play nor can I find it on a search.
Is this an official video or some live video?
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLKOwaRlwStuNL7mRHqT24z5JC17_JlMUq
number 9 on the playlist
I don't believe the band ever made an official video for Shy Boy, at least that I recall. I think that number 9 thumbnail for the video that is no longer available on youtube was a fan made video not an official video and Warner probably had it taken down for copyright purposes. I hope that helps with your question. If my recollection about Shy Boy having an official video is wrong, someone else might be able to help confirm things.

Here a few tracks off the new album, Film Noir, from this modern alt rock band. I find their choruses to be rather catchy.

I like it, I'd be interested in hearing more from them

Great voice, I didn't know he released any solo albums, nice tunes

Being a big Def Lep fan I thought I'd enjoy this band more than I do. I can listen to a track or two, but then the vocals get a bit annoying
