Okay Dan, are you saying the completed 2021 best of lists won't be released until we guess this...
...or is this a stalling tactic?
-
With all the recent talk about Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs), I think this one qualifies.
Released not too long before the pandemic. It's quite prophetic. The lyrics fit, not to mention the pale horse in the thumbnail and other symbolic Easter eggs.

Barbarion - My Rock.
I've posted this killer Aussie track previously and it should've been one of my first posts here.
This video has everything and the track itself is an Anthem for us all.
The video does have a certain "Steel Panther - Death To All But Metal" vibe.

Hmmm not so sure about this change. It's too broad. And I'm not sure on the definition of "obscure"...
Anyway, here's a couple I think are brilliant:
Yeah, I think you may be right mate, it's too broad, so I've decided to make this (my) thread exclusively Australian.
Something like "Aussie Pop Songs You May Not know".
Including the 80s, 90s and 70s.
Of course, all the Aussies here will know these tracks, but I'm always interested to know If these tracks are known overseas.
Here's a great Aussie track from the late 90s.

'Shock Em' Dead' and 'Rock N' Roll Nightmare (aka Edge Of Hell) were good rock/metal film fun...anyone remember those ?
Gotta love that pizza joint scene in Shock Em' Dead'...….
I can't say that I remember either one, but just checking and apparently "Shock 'em Dead" stars "Traci Lords", so I need to check it out. Surprised I missed it actually.
BTW, I googled some recent images of her and I'd still give her one.
In fact "Traci Lords" is one of those celebrities, where because of her past glories, is bangable at any age...
... and I'm not ruling out necrophilia. I'd draw the line at skeletal remains though. I'm not a weirdo.

Huge hit in Australia around 1988. Before they became a dance band.
Yeah, a great track, but it still gets (deservedly) a decent amount of radio airplay.
-
Basically, any iconic, memorable 80s track (more along the Pop lines) that we don't hear very often these days.
As for the change, don't question it, just accept it.

Rather than focusing on "obscure Aussie 80s tracks", I've decided to turn this into an "obscure general 80s tracks" thread.
After all, it's my thread now, so I can make the rules.
These two magnificent tracks don't get anywhere near the recognition they deserve.
Pure 80s.

Aztec Camera - Somewhere In My Heart.
Not an Aussie track, but an obscure 80s one nonetheless and it shouldn't be.
This track sort of fell through the cracks. It should be popping up on classic radio stations, but it isn't. It's a shame.
I really love this one.

Nice.
These guys rarely disappoint.

This nice new "Trick or Treat" retrospective popped up today.
What a time machine movie that is for most of us.
I was never really a "Fastway" fan, but I do love that soundtrack. Sentimental reasons I guess.
This video reminded me of "Black Roses".
Not as good of a movie, a bit cheesy, but it features "King Kobra" and "Lizzy Borden", so you can't argue with that.
The two "King Kobra" tracks featured in the first "Black Roses" clip, are a perfect example of why I love this music.

Yes, golf will never be the same.
Do you remember Ratcat or the Hummingbirds? I always thought they kinda did a pop punk sound before that was even a thing.
Yeah, I remember both.
Not a fan. I hated Ratcat.

Nice one mate. I mentioned my three favourite tracks from these guys earlier in the thread.
This wasn't one of them, but great reference.
Is there anything you don't know?

The "Uncanny X-Men" were a bit of a flash in the pan.
I do however, have great memories of...
"50 Years".
"Every Body Wants to Work".
"Party".

A track from "U2" and a track from "Guns N' Roses" that have a common, dark link.
Chuck didn't get it.

Can honestly say Real Life are the only known one of any of those
That's why MY thread is about obscure Aussie stuff.
It's mine now.

Y'all down under continue to be taking this shit to crazy levels... and from what I see in the vid, the police are full on board with it. After arrest she was fined $1300 for not providing information. Holy hell. This shit is stright out of Nazi Germany or Stalinist Russia.
Get out while you still are allowed to leave the country... it may not be for long...
I don't know what the fuck is going on.
Australia was the very last Country I would've expected to go down this Authoritarian road.

What a great song and sexy as hell singer in genuine one hit wonder group Maybe Dolls!
Mate, I was this close to posting "Nervous Kid", but I thought i'd stick to the 80s.
Great call though, and yeah, she's as hot as fuck.
Never got into Nick Barker.
The Paul Norton track is a great time machine for me.
The "Mondo Rock" and "Real Life" tracks are beyond Epic.
"Do Re Mi" weren't really my cup of tea, but "Man Overboard" is a cool track.
Fast forward to 1991 and Deborah Conway from "Do Re Mi" pulls this magnificent masterpiece of a track from out of nowhere.

100% and I am 100% against mandated vaccines.
And I hate that it has effectively been mandated, but forcing workers and travellers to get it.
My preference would be to let people choose and sit back and call those who choose not to be vaccinated selfish assholesThat's all us selfish assholes ask.

You're digressing.
Mandating the jab is a separate issue.
I would choose it regardless.Yes, but many wouldn't.

Nice one mate.
Killer track.
Australians are very familiar with the word "Sheila". Derived from "Sheela Na Gig".
The "Sheela Na Gig" is freaky/sexy/mysterious/disturbing ancient shit. It must have inspired this band name.

Is it sacrilege on this site to admit to loving Big Country.
Don't admit it, proclaim it!
Nothing wrong with "Big Country" mate.

I'd love to see some new stuff from those guys.
Many great tracks to choose from to post.
This is one of the best.

I've decided to hijack this thread and turn it into an obscure Aussie 80s thread.
Of course, these tracks won't be obscure to the Aussies here and I'm sure will be fondly remembered, but I would be very interested to know if these tracks did anything overseas.
... and yes, technically/allegedly, Jenny Morris and Sharon O'Neill are from New Zealand, but down here we have a "don't ask, don't tell" policy about that.
