  1. With all those cheap duplicating services its geting easier and easier to produce good looking CD-R releases (solid laser-printed inserts, full color termoprint on disc etc.) and this is perfectly okay with me when the band itself produces it and sells it to the fans. What bums me is when a re-seller put this stuff on eBay and comfortably forget to mention it is cd-r re-issue. It happened to me with the CHERRY ROXX CD - I purchased 3 directly from the band and they turned to be duplicated releases. I put one on eBay stating it is duplicated release and it sold for the nominal price I have paid for it ($9.99). Few days later I did search and guess what - the buyer who bought it from me is re-selling it now, boldly lying how good sleaze band they are (Ha!) and not a word it is CD-R! it is up to $19.19 already... and I have seen another seller doing the same thing, going even farther stating it is "REAL DEAL, NO DUPE, NO CD-R" and his sold for $40 and the buyer even left positive feedback afterwards Here's the link to the one I sold and getting re-selled now: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...ssPageName=WDVW I have vowed myslef and next time I buy CD on eBay and it turns out to be cd-r and is not mentioned in the description I'm going to leave negative! I'll get plenty of retaliatory negs too, but at least I'll know I've done something about this shit.
  2. Overcharging with $10 for "handling" fees sux big time! I hope you left the bastard negative! I accept handling "reasonable" up to $2, considering packaging matherials, time, even gas to get to the post office if you will, BUT anything over $2 is a steal and sux! Unfortunately this is what is called "competitive economics" and how the capitalist market works.
  3. I agree with you and only was trying to explain the difference for regular vs registered shipping, which makes difference from seller's point of view eventually. And US Postal Services are rip-offs in this department with their ridiculous flat-rate $7.50 registration fee I love to save myself and gladly would ship the cheapest possible way, but sometimes when the buyer gets back to you and says "hey, where is my package?" and you tell him "sorry, but you didnt opt for registration and I cannot help you out" they dont say "yeah, you are right, its my loss, sorry...", they just go and dispute with PayPal and collect their payment back! Why should I be responsible? It is a tradeoff, and you solely rely on postal services and buyer's honesty when shipping unregistered and uninsured parcels. And sooner or later eventually you get screwed, and when this happens you reconsider and start charging mandatory registration for intenrational PayPal payments. And yes, there are too much wackos on eBay overcharging people with shipping and that sux big time, especially when you get your product negligently packed via cheapest possible way. I just got one LP shipped media mail to me in soft bubble envelope for $1.42 (paid $6 shipping) and I'm going to collect my money back from this idiot as the LP came to me with HUGE fresh seam split and bent corners and I'm NOT going to ship it back on my own expenses and not getting refunded for the shipping he pocketed as profit and let my LP unprotected for $1.42
  4. See! and if I want to ship with online tracking it is $4 + $7.50 = $11.50, and it is roughly +$2 per each additional CD - USPS sux
  5. You can ship one CD including new bubble envelope from US to UK for about $4. The problem is that US postal services charge flat $7.50 if you want to ship it registered, and you cannot apply insurance before registering it first... - and if you dont do that, no matter how upfront and in bold you will write your shipping disclaimer, the buyer will keep YOU repsonsible if their CD gets lost in the mail. Sad but true. and there are far too many bad people that will try to collect their item and refund for it, especially if paying via GayPal... I know that because before starting shiping everything delivery confirmed I ALWAYS had at least 1 per every 20 buyers proclaming their package "lost", since I started shipping delivery confirmed I've shipped more than 500 parcels and NONE got lost! Time to time someone will say its "lost", but when I provide the trackable # they always miraculously find it somehow... Go figure... When shipping internationally I personally use GPM - their small fixed size envelope takes exaclty one CD with the jewel case and it cost $5. I charge the buyer $6, considering the $1 surcharge as handling fee for all tedious custom forms I have to fill while shipping overseas. It cannot be registered or insured, but it travels lightning fast and gets to Western Europe for 3-4 days (2 days to England usually) so buyers are happy and havent had problem recently.
  6. I was looking for a cheap GSM phone at 900mhz the other night to take with me when going to Europe. I saw one selling for about $20 and started reading the description, there was a link stating something like "its essential to click here to see pictures of the actual phone" so I clicked and guess what...there was a picture, alright, but under the picture the seller had written "shipping for this phone is $399" The next day when I tried to show it to a friend this auction has been removed already
  7. OFFTOPIC: Mullet, when you reply to someone and want to quote him, do not erase the " " closing tag - instead start writing after it.
  8. Whoa, with such feedback I'd never bid at his auctions unless I feel very adventurous
  9. I dont know man, is it replicated, or duplicated? Good point to keep in mind is that 10 years ago there werent duplication services available, so if its cd-r its probably a bootie. Hey DAN, great new emoticons btw
  10. Oh man - there's so much grief in this world..., better let it go - its not worth wasting time on this asshole and aggravating your anger - it ruins your own health.
  11. That's why I started charging $3 for S&H two years ago and the handeling portion is included to cover for the greedy ebay fees AND delivery confirmation - without it PayPal will ignore you and reverse the payment to the buyer. It is mandatory and in your own insterest, so include it in the shipping, or in the starting bid! Also, you have to be very cautious, because if PayPal shuts down your account they usualy do this by monitoring your IP address and if your husband logs to his from the same connection, his account most probably would get fried too! And if you have linked bank account or CC to your paypal account, they will withdraw the money directly from those sources, even if you have removed them from your profile meanwhile!
  12. Maybe because he has to order it from Hangloose records first, hehe
  13. I'm sorry to hear that hsf and feel for your loss. Obviously Ronnie537 is not alone out there...
  14. Well, so far he hasn't lived up to what he said. Let's hope he follows through better on actually sending the CD! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, he said he already quit selling this CD, so I think in most case you will get some sort of substitute (so called "shit" in his previous message, I hope he didnt mean it literaly...heh) - better ask for refund in my opinion!
  15. I'm glad for you. As far as HangLoose / Jurgen, they are crossed in my book with thick red lines and I hope never to hear from them again
  16. That's about true in general, but I have the feeling Ronnie567 is not the person who would invest much time or resources in making your CDRs, if you know what I mean Besides, I'd never buy CDR, unless it is offered by the band itself. I simply dont consider CDRs the real deal, they dont hold any value to me, and would prefer mp3 instead - mucho easier to trade online. I can trade CDR with someone who is into it, and even print him inserts if it is something very rare and obscure, but to pay him for his "efforts, time, gas for driving to the post office, etc." making me one, forget it! Burning a CDR and printing inserts + first class mail comes up to $3, $4 top, not $7 for sure, and this quack told everyone he will shend them for FREE, go figure how decent and honest person he is... Hey, everyone of us can start burning CDRs, printing inserts and selling them for $10 in eBay, it is not rocket science to do such, but then what would be the purpose of hunting down and collecting the real CDs? Would one be thrilled in buying flimsy CDR copy of somelthing rare and obscure? I certailny wouldnt be!
  17. What about if our daddies get together and beat yours? Seriously, I appreciate T-bone's post and the efford he put explaining it. Sincere apologies, no pun or offense intended!
  18. Actually, my posting says the same thing yours does. I see you are a bit confused between "hosting" & "linking" and will elaborate a bit on that. You dont "host" anything here when using photobucket - you simply link to the physical image file, which is hosted on photobucket server. They only provide the BB code for your conveninence to copy/paste and include in your posting. Here's how it works: When someone opens the post with linked image, the HH webserver gives their browser the link, the browser retrieves the image form the photobucket server and includes it in the posting for them to see. As a result, you see the image here, but the actual picture file remains hosted on the photobucket server.
  19. It could be boot, wont surprise me a bit. The only way to include image here is to link to already hosted one using the tag
  20. What a cool idea to have "good traders" topic for a change! I'd like to cheer up lrc72315 for the easy trade and great CDs, thanks Lonnie!
  21. Are you talking about S/T, or "Heaven"? I believe that someone licenced the entire Frontiers Records catalog for Russian market recently and "Heaven" probably got re-issued. Or somebody managed to unearth warehouse find or something...
  22. I'm sure he will recuperate and will be back
  23. Well, with 29 negs for the last month alone, and even more neutral its better for everyone it happened. To have an unsatisfied customer EVERY single day just doesnt sound right to me. Dave is a cool guy, but he must sit down and organize his business!
