  1. Absolutely agree. Love these guys sound and I find that I keep coming back to this album. I still do think they've flown pretty under the radar on many sites I follow...Don't seem to get nearly the press that the Frontiers releases seem to get. If they come out with another album it'll likely be an automatic pre-order for me.
  2. I like this tune...Might be my favorite that I've heard so far.
  3. My first impression also was that it was very poppy...But I've moved away from that stance. There's definitely some modern pop elements in some spots but also plenty of good rock moments and solos as Glen said. I really like some of the solos in these songs....It's what gives the album the edge IMO. I would like to see them doing more so he like Buried Alive though...Think these guys sound great on the heavier, edgier stuff.
  4. Interesting...Like this one a lot more than the last song. Sure seems like they're taking a heavier approach based upon the first two songs....Which is fine with me.
  5. No Way Back or whatever...yeah thats the one. Killer song. That and Jaded are the highlights for me. But lets face it they are all in the 8.5 to 9.5 territory. Quite simply an excellent album. Agree...Excellent album. This album just flies by for me when I listen to it....Exactly the kind of melodic harder rock I like. For me, Never Look Back leads the way...Followed closely by Killing Me and Jaded. Really nothing that I don't like though. Hope I get the chance to see these guys live someday. They've been in the US a couple times but wasn't able to get to those shows. I'm hoping Andrew gets them for MRF5 as I'm planning to attend that.
  6. Haven't heard 4th and 5th but my top 3 right now would be the same....TMF, Eclipse and One Desire. Has been a great start this year and still plenty of good stuff to come....Crazy Lixx, H.e.a.t, Station, maybe Degreed....Really think this will wind up being one of the best years for melodic rock in quite some time....at least for me Might be rough next year though as it seems like every band I like listening to has come out with an album in the past year or will be this year.
  7. Not much talk about this one yet today.... Pretty solid album from top to bottom. I do think it gets a bit "samey" in spots though and would like a bit more variation in song structures. I also still don't feel like this album has quite the "epic" feel I got from the last one. That said though, still really like it and there isn't anything I get the urge to skip past.
  8. One out a bit in left field for me is Bowling For Soup... I'm a melodic rock guy through and through and never got into any type of pop, pop punk or whatever. However, I happened across a couple of these guys songs at one point about 15 years ago and really just found myself being entertained. They're just sort of a guilty pleasure or diversion and the wife really digs their music as well. While they do have some silly songs I think they've got some great songs also. Also dig seeing them live as every show is different and never know what off the wall stuff they'll do and say. Much different than say Def Leppard where if you've heard one show on a tour you've basically heard them all.
  9. Jeez mate, you've been on a long ride with this one, even before anyone else got to hear it. I absolutely 100% do not understand how on earth you're dragging One Direction into comparison (really?! How? Which One Direction song sounds like this? Lead me to the album, please!). But I also just don't get the "pop" direction in general. I am not sure what pop is like in your part of the world, but recommend some pop music to me that sounds like this, as I need to hear it asap! Yeah...I know I've been a long ride. It's just taken me awhile to warm up to this album but it's one I felt like I should've been liking more than I was so was just sorta talking myself through it here.....musical therapy LOL. It's grown on me a lot though and does start out pretty strong with the first 3-4 songs. It dips a little still for me with Falling Apart and Straight Through the Heart but finishes strong with the last 4 songs. I do still think there are some "poppy" moments in it with some techno sounds or whatever....Like the opening to Love Injection (I will say that song has been implanted in my head ). But there are also many good heavier riffs also that give it a little edge too. Interesting album though and a good debut for these guys.
  10. I feel the same and know exactly what you mean Only difference being that I haven't heard the full album but only 3 tracks that were released. Also agree that it could be compared to Cruzh a little I have to admit I'm warming to the album a little bit. Really there are only two songs that I just don't like at all....Falling Apart and Straight Through Heart are have both turned into automatic skips for me. On the other hand though, I really like Hurt, Apologize and Love Injection is a pretty infectious song even if it does start out pretty poppy. I also don't mind Turn Back Time and I've also warmed up to Whenever I'm Dreaming and like the song that follows it Do You Believe. I do wish there were maybe one or two heavier numbers in addition to Buried Alive to give the album a little more edge. That one song is definitely comparable to Eclipse. It's sort of a strange album and I think that's why I've struggled warming up to it. It's really sorta all over the place....There's poppy almost One Direction moments in some songs and then they turn around and hit you with some great heavier riffs in some other spots. There really are a lot of great hooks and harmonies though and it is a well put together album. I still think these guys sound like a more mainstream version of Degreed. I have to laugh a little. I had this playing with my 16 year old daughter in the car yesterday and she normally doesn't care much for what I listen to and she was commented...."This sounds pretty good" and she was singing Love Injection sitting in the living room last night. She told me I had to put that song on her phone. I'd still rate Tokyo Motor Fist and Eclipse way above this album but it's a pretty good debut effort.
  11. Lemme see...H.E.A.T and Eclipse are two of my top five all-time bands - so, yeah, this one should be right up my alley. I know you like heavier but to me the 3 songs so far are miles better than Cruzh and offer more variarion in Style than Eclipse. There's definitely variation in the album. I've tried it a couple more times and while listening the last time I think a better comparison is probably to Degreed. Although, I think Degreed feels to me like it has a bit more edge than this though maybe due to Robin's gritty vocals. The album has grown on me a little...Apologize is probably my favorite song on it....Hurt is good....Love Injection is pretty catchy and Turn Back Time is pretty good. I'm still struggling a bit with the second half of the album though and just not finding much in the second half that's exciting me. It's put together well and I'm sure it will appeal to many. It's just not quite clicking into place for me yet.
  12. Sorry...But for me this is nowhere in the same league as Eclipse or the past couple H.e.a.t albums. I can maybe see some comparisons to early H.e.a.t but not even sure about that. For me this is closer to something like the Cruzh release last year...Only with more modern production and maybe a little more pop feel. Lemme see...H.E.A.T and Eclipse are two of my top five all-time bands - so, yeah, this one should be right up my alley.
  13. Have heard this album and really not doing much for me at all. It really has a pretty scandi, modern poppy feel throughout to me. I like Hurt and liked Apologize....But didn't care much for Whenever I'm Dreaming. There's a couple other songs that are okay but I find myself basically slowly checking out on this after the first 4 songs. I'm also struggling a little with the vocals...Bit accented or something...I don't know. I'm sure this will appeal to many but just not hitting a sweet spot for me. Maybe I'm too caught up in Tokyo Motor Fist and Eclipse at the moment
  14. Ha ha if Vertigo is your worst track you are doing something right eh?? Yep. Initial ratings has that at a 7.75 and the rest is at least an 8... so there's not much in it. For me, this is probably their most consistent album. So many chunky, awesome riffs. I agree it's a pretty consistent album. I'm not sure if it's really consistency or "sameness" though. I do wish they would've pushed the envelope a little bit and did something that I didn't expect. I look at a song like Breakdown from the last album...That song was one of my favorites from that album and just had a different feel to it. I also quite liked Live Like I'm Dying a lot which also was a bit of a change up. I guess Hurt is meant to be something different and the song is okay....Although it does have some cheesy lyrics in a couple spots that sorta hold it back a little bit for me. I guess another song that maybe was meant to be a little different is Black Rain....I can't make up my mind if I really like that song or not. I like the heavy feel and the riffage...something is holding it back a bit for me though. The rest of the album is basically pure Eclipse which is all just fine with me. These guys strength is melodic hard rock and it shines through in songs like Never Look Back, Killing Me, Jaded, For Better Or For Worse, etc. Still a strong album but also still don't feel like it's as strong as their last release. I do think that possibly Erik is stretching himself a bit thin. I mean...I look at some of those Nordic Union songs and if he had saved a few of those for this album it could've made this an epic album. Maybe it's not fair to say that though...I don't know. Good album though and few bands do melodic hard rock as well as these guys.
  15. Have heard it...Very good album. I do agree with poster above that it does have a familiar feel and maybe not quite the variety in songs as the last album. I also think the last album had a couple really epic songs...Wide Open was probably my favorite song of 2015...Not sure this album has any really epic songs. That said though..Still a fantastic listen and just great melodic rock. I think my early favorites are Never Look Back, Killing Me and Jaded. Great album and really can't see anybody who has liked the past couple albums not being pleased with this one also.
  16. Caved in and pre-ordered this after reading a couple reviews. Basically, it sounds like a pretty varied album from what I've read from AOR to modern rock to hard rock. I liked Hurt a lot...And also like Apologize quite a bit. I'm still only lukewarm on Whenever I'm Dreaming....It's okay. Really though...all these songs seem well produced with plenty of hooks, harmonies ,etc. It may sit on the back burner for a little bit when it comes out though because I know I'll be diving into Eclipse first.
  17. Good song...I do agree the formula is familiar....It still works though. In my mind it's going to be extremely difficult for them to compete with Armageddonize. I just thought that album was about perfect.
  18. This one isn't doing much for me. I liked a couple songs on the debut...Need you To Understand was pretty good....But this is one I struggle at times with when it comes to the vocals. I'm not sure if it's the accent or what it is. I never heard enough to convince me to buy the first one and not off to a good start here.
  19. I believe Brown had all the songs written and demo'd before bringing in the other 3 members. I've liked every project Steve Brown has been involved in. Multi talented individual. I think Sleazeroxx had an interview with him recently where he hints at the possibility of joining D2 on a semi permanent basis. He is exactly what that band needs. An ear for catchy riffs and melody and a foot firmly planted in the genre and time period we all love to this day. I had heard that about those songs also that Steve basically had them all together already. I wonder if these were slated to be possibly future Trixter songs that were on the back burner or something? Or maybe they just didn't fit with Trixter....IDK. Agree Steve is really talented. I really wish Def Leppard would consider working with him to help write/record one of their albums in the future....It's obvious this guy can channel some inner Mutt Lange. I'm sure it won't happen though as the Leppard guys are too stuck in their ways now to probably work with an outsider. Good stuff!
  20. Absolutely fantastic! Started out with no expectations as I honestly haven't been big on Ted Poley's solo work. I've liked a couple songs here and there but mostly it just hasn't done much for me. This TMF album though is about as instant as it gets for me....Love it on the first run through. There's plenty of Def Leppard moments in these songs. Steve Brown has to be the guy bringing those riffs and melodies to this project IMO. I do think Ted sounds pretty darn good too though. Really like You're My Revolution and Put Me to Shame....Heck, really like the whole thing and even the slower songs fit well where they're at and are nice diversions. 2017 is looking like a great year so will be interesting to see how long this album can hold it's #1 spot for me
  21. Like this song. For me, I like the slight edge this song has compared to the last one that felt a bit poppy to me. Still on the fence with this album although I'm leaning toward giving it a shot.
  22. I'm 100% certain I'm going to love this album. I've seen probably 10 reviews from sites I follow and all have been glowing. Exactly the kind of music I like
  23. Seems like a decent setlist....Kinda would've liked to see Inferno included. Probably a pass for me...Too many other good things coming in 2017.
  24. I'm getting kind of a Def Leppard Hysteria vibe....
