Have had my eye on this one....Still on the fence.

Have heard a couple other samples and my biggest hold up at the moment is the vocals.  I don't know what it is exactly....Little accented or hard to understand on some of the songs I've heard.  The music sounds really good though and it's right in my wheelhouse taste-wise.

Just have to see if the vocals grow on me with repeated listens.

My biggest problem with this band is just the lead vocals are hard to understand.. Otherwise productions seem great to me.

I bought this album recently. I've never paid much attention to these guys but thought I'd give it a chance since I'll likely be seeing them at MRF5 and wanted to get a little bit familiar with some songs.

I'm struggling with it. The music and melodies are pretty good and love the Def Leppard style vibes....But just think the singer is pretty bad. I don't know if it's bad or just that I have a hard time understanding what he's saying 3/4 of the time.

I like the production, all the hooks, some great guitar work and some good choruses. It's just the vocals that are holding it back for me. I pretty much find myself just listening to the music and choruses and sort of zoning out for the verses.

Will probably give it a couple more spins to see if it can grow on me at all.

The closing ballad is stunning. Prob best this year

Great tune...One of my top songs on the album.

Toss up for me between this and H.e.a.t's Eye of The Storm for my favorite ballad this year. I also like If It's Love by Crazy Lixx a lot.

Agree here....This is an album I find myself wanting to come back to.

I was a bit harsh on this album when it first launched....Took a little bit for me to get into it for some reason. But it's still in my car and looking back on it now, really do like it.

Agree on the production too...nicely done here.

Hopefully there is another album from these guys in the future.

I wish they'd re-record some of the songs from the first two album...pick 10-11 of them and do a release. There are some good songs on those albums...just need to add a little beef and edge to some of them. I just think Erik brings a different dynamic and I like many of those songs when they're played live.

Really not looking to start another Erik vs Kenny argument here. Just saying that Erik has a different style and the songs sound different when he sings them.

I never got into the first two. But they are the worst H.E.A.T. discs for me.

First spin and I absolutely love it.

 

A couple of WTF moments but they were good WTF moments.

 

The last track is epic....classic HEAT. What a hook.

 

We Rule is a pretty obvious set closer and will work amazingly well I reckon.

I'm right there with you...Agree about the WTF moments comment. Those things have turned into hooks for me. Also agree about We Rule and can see that in the live show for sure and probably as a closer.

I understand the comments from people that don't like it though. If people want a balls out rock album full of up-tempo type songs, this isn't it. If people want a balls out AOR album like the earlier H.e.a.t albums, this also isn't it.

Really though, I think this fits in nicely with the past couple H.e.a.t albums and follows the trends they've done with those. I mean, TDTW also really had a lot of variety...A few big rockers, a commercial song with Shot At Redemption, a piano ballad All the nights, the AORish We Will Never Die, the theatrical Mannequin Show, the power ballad TDTW, etc.

I think they've just continued that trend here and maybe expands on the variety a little bit.

There were a few songs I was pretty lukewarm on at first like Time On Our Side, We Rule, Do You Want It....But they've all grown on me big time. I like the variety and find it interesting to listen to throughout.

My favorites are Bastard Of Society, Best Of The Broken and Blind Leads The Blind as I do prefer the up tempo version of H.e.a.t...But it's all pretty solid for me. Maybe I'm just too much of a H.e.a.t fanboy

Well, I'm going to be somewhat the contrarian here... the album is very good, but it doesn't grab me by the balls the way the last one did.

 

For example, in the above track, I kept waiting for a huge chorus payoff, and IMO it never came. No vocal harmonies at all. It's a good song, but could have been better.

 

I've only listened through the album once thus far and will definitely need several more spins to see if it's a grower, but thus far IMO there are better albums this year...

I would definitely agree on the first part...Doesn't grab me like TDTW did either. But the album is definitely a grower at least for me. I really didn't care for a few songs at first but I really like everything on the album.

Also have to add my Japan copy showed up today and the Japan bonus track F Y I Miley is pretty darn good although it's a little bit short at 2:49. However, I'd say it's probably the heaviest song on the album and is definitely a song they should've included on the standard release. I think it would've fit well right after Do you Want It.

I do a bit too...just wish the songs were beefed up...little more richness in guitars and drums or something. I think that's partly why it's fallen a couple spots for me. Still good though.

I'm stopping there. A couple other releases like Art Nation and Warrant that I've enjoyed but not enough to list.

 

I see many touting Confess....I need to give that a closer look. I remember trying a few songs and it just didn't grab me. I remember that Animal Attraction video being good though

 

Only other release I think that could crack my list would be Midnite City. Based upon what I've heard, it could very well slot into my Top 5.

LOL....I agree. Wouldn't have posted it but haven't seen any other reviews. It's a good example of how not to write a review.

I'm seriously considering the Jap version as the bonus track is supposed to be great. Might wait til I hear the track on YT?.

Yeah...I hadn't planned to get the Japan version but after seeing a review that the bonus track is a storming rocker that called it the best track on the album....I caved. One more big rocker at the end of the album would serve the album well IMO.

The review I saw was probably paid off by one of the Japan companies lol....And it'll turn out to be some weird pop song with my luck.

I see everyone had just downloaded this before release date.....sign of the times I guess. I wonder how many will actually buy it now.

 

Contrary to Geoffs comments I pretty much love all the tracks I heard on the Podcast although Shit City was the weaker of the bunch.

 

I'm pretty certain this will crack my top 10 as HEAT are just a different class to most bands.

Well...I've bought 2 copies....The japan version and a signed album from Bengens in Sweden....So I don't feel guilty at all

Also certain this will rank high for me even though that probably comes as little surprise. I'm feeling like it'll be right there with Crazy Lixx, Eclipse and Tokyo Motor Fist as my favorites this year. I've really, really liked One Desire, Degreed and Harem Scarem also though...

What a great year for melodic rock....so many quality, superb releases. I think every album I mentioned could've been my favorite album in some prior years.
