  1. Faber Drive - Seven Second Surgery

Hmmm - Just As I expected it to be, Been there, done that, worn the T-Shirt. A couple of nice tunes, but I have heard all this stuff soo many times before to the point of Saturation and this doesn't really stand out as anything great to be honest and re-affirms why I generally don't touch this sort of stuff with a barge pole. One point I will add is that comparing the quality of songwriting here to Desmond Child and Jeff Paris's made me laugh quite a lot (with reason) but I will let that one go - each to their own I suppose. Some of these tunes are bordering on Busted territory, which is a crime in itself IMHO, although to give it a little credit, I was tapping my foot to 2 or 3,(Sleepless Nights and Tongue Tied) and the overall sound of the disc is quite well done, but really, a little bit more than foot tapping is required when I listen to stuff. Oh well, it was over in a relatively short 35 minutes, and I was pre-warned that I probably wouldn't like this much, so nothing lost nothing gained. Thought i'd give it a go to see what the fuss was about - The missus likes this sort of stuff, so will take it off my hands I am sure.

    :agree:

Not many stand out releases in the modern rock genre this year im afraid.

Certainly nothing even close to the brilliance of Papa Roach, Bulletproof or Skillet from 06!

    Cheers

  2. PC69 - 'In10sity' (imo this is still easily their best since 'Electrified')

There have been stronger individual songs like 'Shelter', 'Gods Come Together', 'Lost in Illusion', 'Followed by the Moon', 'High as a Mountain'.

But, overall as an album, yes I agree it is their strongest since 'Electrified'

    :drink:

I usually agree with both of you chaps, but not here. I preferred "Thunderdome" by a long-shot, & sold my copy....

    Next up:

FABER DRIVE - Seven Second Surgery

    AVENGED SEVENFOLD - S/T

You sold 'In10sity'??? :yikes: lol, it's not that bad is it??

    Spinning:

    Cauterize - 'Disguises'

    :yikes: x2.....................

You sold it?! Jesus, In10sity is one of my fav albums of 07.

I agree the best songs of Thunderdome are better.....but overall In10sity is more consistent.

    back to topic -

    PAGANS MIND - Gods Equation

    ...........again

  3. Jesus, I really cant believe what I am reading in this thread. Mostly I agree with the thoughts and opinions of most posters here, but I totally disagree with some of the comments about 'Sweet Trade'.

I think this album kicks the debut's butt!

For me there were only about 5 songs on the debut which I considered to be really good....Night of Passion, Shadows, Dont Give Up On Love, Kingdom Of Heaven and Crying. Quite a few were pretty annoying to say the least - Lie of Me, Song For You ( :yikes: WTF!), the title song, the awful cover etc etc.

Whereas here the first three tracks are all up-temp rockers, catchy - good stuff. You have the killer combo of 'Thunderball' (some might not like it, but Ive loved this track from the moment I heard it!) and Bon Jovi-esque 'Reach The Sky'. And towards the end the brilliant trio of 'Band Of Brothers' (killer guitar solos), 'Heavens Closing In' and of course my fav 'Kiss Goodbye' (which is one of my favourite tracks this year!). To be honest after this track I switch off, as the so called 'best track on the album' ( ) pales in comparison.

OK, its certainly not the best album this year (nowhere near Ted, Alter Bridge, Threshold etc), but its gonna make my top 10 no questions asked.

    Cheers.

  4. OK, here are some of mine in all their awesomeness!

BON JOVI - In These Arms

BOSTON - More Than A Feeling

DANGER DANGER - Under The Gun

    HAREM SCAREM - Lucky Ones

WIGWAM - No More Living on Lies / Gonna Get You Someday

REO - Ridin The Storn Out

SURVIVOR - Too Hot To Sleep

& loads & loads more..........the best thing about the melodic rock genre is the damned catcy choruses!

    Cheers
