  7. From Loudwire: Immensely prolific heavy metal icons Saxon have just announced Carpe Diem, their 23rd studio album, and along with it comes the music video for the opening track, "Carpe Diem (Seize the Day)." "It all starts with the riff. If the riff speaks to me, then we’re on our way," said singer Biff Byford of the studio successor to 2018's Lightning Bolt, with last year's Inspirations covers record bridging the gap. "It’s a very intense album and that’s all down to the fact that the essence of a great metal song is the riff that starts it and this album has loads of them," he continued. Before those riffs start flying, Saxon serve up a sense of epic grandiosity with an atmospheric, tribal opening set the visual clips of lush, rolling green hills in the countryside. With a high-pitch wail from the 70-year-old Byford, the metal overtakes this cinematic passage and one of the U.K.'s longest active crew of headbangers prove themselves to be as vital now as they were over four decades ago. "In Latin it means 'seize the day' and I think it's a great thing to say," said Byford of the album's title. He explained, "It’s what the Romans used to say to each other on a regular basis, apparently, never having met one, I wouldn’t know! But we’re gonna do the Seize the Day world tour, the album’s Carpe Diem, this song’s called “Carpe Diem (Seize the Day)” and it’s such a powerful thing to say.” “We want every album we make to go platinum,” the singer added in reflection of the band's drive. "We never make an album that we don’t expect to be fantastic because there are no laurels around here, and as a band, we’re always trying to do something a little bit new, a little bit daring. I love fast metal like 'Princess of the Night' and '20,000 Feet', and I try and bring that style of Saxon into the music now, but in a more modern style. We don’t sound like an old band on records because we’re not sitting back on our past success, we’re always trying to make a great album.” Getting to the finish line on Carpe Diem wasn't easy, however, as medical setbacks and the pandemic presented their own set of hurdles to overcome. Byford went on, “It’s been a difficult two years because I had the heart attack back in September 2019, so things went a bit pear-shaped for the band. And then COVID hit two or three months later, but luckily, we started writing and recording this album before COVID. We did the drums in Germany and we did the guitars in various places. I was doing a lot of writing while I was in the hospital bed, and we spent quite a long time writing and arranging the ideas that we all had. I do think it’s a very intense album, and maybe some of that intensity comes from the frustration of not being able to do anything in the COVID period." Carpe Diem was produced by Andy Sneap at Backstage Recording Studios in Derbyshire, England while both Byford and Sneap teamed up on mixing and mastering duties. The album will be out Feb. 4 on Silver Lining Music and pre-orders can be placed here. To view the artwork and track listing, scroll to the bottom of the page. Track Listing: 01. 11. From Escape Music: In the mid-eighties Life by Night recorded their debut album with Richie Zito behind the production desk. The songs were melodic AOR with poppy overtones and it was all set to be released when the label at the time just dropped them. It happened so quickly, and as a result this fine album from 1985 never saw the light of day. Thankfully the debut album was eventually released earlier this year by Escape Music in the form of a numbered limited release (Life by Night ESM355). The band were originally formed by lead vocalist and bassist Tom Croucier, the brother of Ratt bassist Juan Croucier. Having played in a variety of different groups through years, Tom has been a part of Roger Romeo’s group “Romeo” as well as A&M record’s Bobby Dazzler and Santana. In 1981 Tom Played on the excellent “Down to the Bone” album in 1981 by Vic Vergat. Tom also played bass on the Scorpions “Blackout” album. After Life by Night had originally disbanded in the late 80’s Tom Croucier and Gene Black partnered up and began writing new songs. Pat Regan joined and with the addition of Mark Nelson on drums the second Life by Night album “Glass Walls” started to take shape. This is a yet another beautiful example of song-writing and musicianship and worthy of your attention. A great way to end 2021. Track List: 01 Anything can happen 4:28 02 Give me one more night 4:00 03 Catch you in my dreams 4:40 04 Fade to Blue 3:58 05 Can’t get her out of my head 4:15 06 Glass Walls 3:46 07 I was that man 3:51 08 Say it 3:36 09 Living On The Edge 4:06 10 Bridge Of Love 4:08 11 I fall in love with you 3:51 12 This house is not a home 4:30 Life by Night is: Tom Croucier – Lead Vocals and Bass (Vic Vergat / Scorpions) Pat Regan - Keyboards (Harlow / Kiss / Doro / Quite Riot / Deep Purple and more) Gene Black - Guitars (Device / Rod Stewart / Tina Turner / Holly Knight / Berlin / Gowan / Robert Tepper) Mark Nelson - Drums (Device / Phil Cristian / Randy Hansen)
  12. New song 'Lovers' Train'. From Frontiers: Buzzworthy Indian hard rockers Girish & The Chronicles (GATC) have released a brand new single, 'Lovers' Train'. Stream or download the single HERE: https://orcd.co/loverstrain 'Lovers Train' serves as an appetizer for the bands forthcoming new studio album, which will be released in early 2022 via Frontiers Music Srl. Stay tuned for more details on that coming soon. Girish says, "We are a hard rock/melodic rock/heavy metal band. We like making the kind of music that we grew up listening to, which revolves around the '80s. However, we do like including a song or two that may have a very different vibe. Could be in the form of a progressive song or maybe a riff that has a bit of "India" in it. All in all, we think of it as a roller coaster ride with the meanest in-your-face songs to beautiful ballads. We feel no matter how dedicated we are to the art, we still should not stop ourselves from exploring more, but without losing the essence of what we truly love." GATC has released two acclaimed albums, their debut “Back on Earth” (Universal Music India) and the more recent 2020 release, “Rock The Highway” (Lions Pride Music). Starting off in the city of Gangtok in Sikkim, India, and now based out of Bengaluru in Karnataka, GATC are known for their soaring, powerful vocals, biting guitars, thunderous bass, and pounding drums, staying true to the authentic ‘80s heavy metal/hard rock sound which they grew up with. Many rock outlets, listed GATC’s "Rock the Highway" on their list of top Top Rock/Metal Albums of 2020 and the group has gained a cult following with '80's and '90s hair metal and hard rock aficionados. GATC is also well known in the Indian rock scene for electrifying live shows and have toured across the nation and beyond. The group has supported bands ranging in variety from American alt rockers Hoobastank to Finnish rockers Poets of the Fall to German thrashers Destruction. Additionally, the band has been part of various leading music festivals in India consistently. They also recently toured with/backed ex-Lamb of God drummer Chris Adler during his performances in India. Vocalist Girish Pradhan is also part of the international metal group, Firstborne, which is led by Chris Adler, James Lomenzo and Hugh B. Myrone. He has also toured the UK, France, Spain, Portugal and other territories with his other side projects in the past. In their 11 year existence, they have been credited by many fans for bringing the classic hard rock culture back in India and are an inspiration to many new and upcoming bands in the scene. 15. I love the original by Alice Cooper. From FB: Halloween approaches so we decided to revisit this special song we all love from one of our favourite artists of all time, Mr. Alice Cooper. "He's Back (The Man Behind the Mask)" was included in 1986's "Constrictor" and it was used as the soundtrack of the "Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives" movie. We think that there's nothing better to celebrate Halloween than the combination of Alice Cooper + Jason Voorhees, don't you think? This is not the only track we have recorded though. Something more will follow, but for now please enjoy this special single! Link to YouTube and to your preferred streaming services in the comment below. From Frontiers: Italy's Hell In The Club, in celebration of Halloween, have released a cover of the '80s Alice Cooper classic 'He's Back (The Man Behind The Mask)'! ' He's Back (The Man Behind The Mask)' appears on Alice Cooper's 1986 release, "Constrictor" and was also on the soundtrack for the Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives movie. The band couldn't resist releasing this cover for Halloween because of that fun horror movie trivia aspect of it....and of course because they love the song! Hell In The Club is an Italian hard rock/heavy metal band featuring members of Elvenking and Secret Sphere. The band has released five albums and is currently celebrating 10 years as a band after the release of their debut album "Let The Games Begin" in 2011. With DAVE on vocals, ANDY on bass, FEDE on drums and PICCO on the guitar, HELL IN THE CLUB will delight you, they'll make you dance, sing, and bang your heads with their songs. They mix classic hard rock and modern sounds, heavy metal and party songs, fifties rock’n’roll, and anything in between. Rock ‘n roll is all about fun and that is what has been on display throughout their musical career. Line-up: Dave - Vocals Andy - Bass Picco - Guitars Mark – Drums
