  1. I just tried registering a dummy username and it worked fine for me... -Dan
  2. Coming over the wire now. Vick's camp is saying that he's not going to plead guilty to either killing dogs or gambling on dogfighting. He only plans to plead guilty to one count of interstate commerce violations. How does this fucker get off not having to admit to anything! Money talks I guess. Why would the feds even agree to this??? Sonofabitch.
  3. You're in the same boat I am. Some of the shirts have 3X options. I have no control over what sizes are offered for which items... -Dan
  4. Well 99% of the time you're right! -Dan

  6. Ok, with 10 days left in the contest, I have processed all of the pending submissions and updated the Status Thread. Still plenty of time to get entered into the drawing for the pair of Mezzanine Front Row Tix! -Dan P.S. I'd mention the Royal Box Seat Tix, but it looks like Matt has those pretty well locked up, unless someone gets a burr under their saddle...
  7. Just coming over the wire. Michael Vick has agreed to plead guilty to the federal charges against him. No details on the plea agreement yet, but it looks like he will spend anywhere from 10 months to 3 years in Federal pound-me-in-the-ass prison... Too light if you ask me. -Dan
  8. Damn. Has PJ gone round the bend? It seriously looks like he's taken the "I just don't give a shit" approach... -Dan
  9. Actually, this has been my biggest beef with Sam and other bootleggers since day one: lack of full disclosure. His response has always been "people can always ask for their money back" which avoids the issue and puts the responsibility on the buyer rather than the seller. Of course there's the whole issue that selling bootlegs being de facto prohibited on eBay, so of course no seller is going to come out and admit what they're selling. Bootlegs have been part of the music "scene" since before I was born. Everyone know about them. I think that a bootleg of a long-out-of-print album that people are clamoring for is forgiven by most people, as long as it is disclosed as such... but don't try and hide it. There are plenty of times that I would purchase a boot if I were knowingly doing so (and I think others would as well). It's the deceit and trying to sell a boot as the real thing that gets my goat. If I wanna spend $20 on a boot for the sake of getting the music fine and dandy, but if, as a collector, I end up bidding up to $50 thinking I'm getting an original/legit pressing, and then wind up with a boot, I'm going to be fucking pissed... -Dan
  10. I seriously doubt it. Even his boots are better quality than this... -Dan
  11. I know this is going to be unexpected, but this time I'm going to come down on Sam's side, at least with respect to the Laaz Rockit CDs, assuming my hazy memory is correct. These Laaz Rockit reissues have been grey market for a long long time. I remember buying a few of them at Ultrasound 2000 directly from Century Media's table. They were on Old Metal, True Metal, or some other similarly-named quasi-official-unofficial reissue label. I no longer have the discs; they went in the big sell-off I had a few years back. If memory serves there was only a front card (or a 4-page booklet where the inside was blank). They had the SPV logo on the artwork, but the print quality was subpar. Definitely on the cheap. So in this case, I believe Sam is simply reselling what is out there, as opposed to being the entity behind their creation... -Dan
  12. This is a joke, right? Are you serious? There are so many giveaways, it's not even funny: 1. Disc has crappy inkjet-printed peelable label on it. 2. Artwork is printed on inkjet printer (and one that hasn't had its heads cleaned or aligned in a while -- see the white parallel lines on the tray card?) 3. Tray card is hand folded, not perfed. 4. Disc is a black blank used to dupe games. Probably the most pathetic attempt at a bootleg I've seen in a LONG time. Who was the seller? Out him please. -Dan

  14. Allrightythen.... it took me a bit longer than anticipated to get things set up. I had another option I was exploring for shirts, but thus far it hasn't panned out. If it does, I'll make more shirt options available. I've set up a storefront using Cafe Press, and have filled it with a number of different combinations of t-shirt, sweatshirt, and baseball jersey designs, as well as mugs, caps, and a few other things. I had tried using Cafe Press several years ago, but the durability of the shirts was very problematic. They have since updated their technology and offer 2 options: 1. A more durable heat transfer. Provides the most vibrant color, initially has a bit of a plastic feel but smooths out over time. Does fade, but supposedly nowhere near as much as the older method did. 2. Direct-to-garment printing. Much more durable, will not fade, but the colors are not as vibrant as the heat transfer. Rather than choose one method over the other, I've left the option for people to choose for themselves. Before I went live, I wanted to see for myself if the quality was any good, so I purchased a random selection of items: 3 shirts of different designs, 2 of the beer steins, and the HH wall clock. The order was shipped the next day and arrived 3 days after I placed the order. Lightning fast, in my opinion. The print quality on the beer steins was much better than I anticipated. I don't know what technology they're using, but it works very well. The wall clock is fairly cheap in quality, but whaddaya expect for $15. Print quality is good. The 3 shirts I got were all printed using the direct-to-garment method (I will be purchasing a few that are printed via heat transfer to compare). The quality looks decent, but I see what they mean by the colors being not as vibrant as heat transfer. Please be aware, the design colors end up being muted when printed on a colored shirt, so the BANEED! isn't as vibrant as I'd like. Not sure if I'll keep that product available. IMPORTANT! At the end of August (they have not announced a firm date), Cafe Press will be raising prices on shirts that are printed 2-sided, by $3 per shirt. If you want to get one of the 2-sided shirts, my advice is to order one ASAP. I may be tweaking the combinations of products and designs/logos that are offered. If you have a particular request, or a suggestion for a new design, please let me know. I'll do my best to accommodate. For the ladies, the BANEED! thong is perfect for oh so many reasons... Here's the link. It's also now included on all of the sites: http://www.cafepress.com/hh1,hh3,hh4,hm1 Get some goofy gear in time for the MR concert, and support HH at the same time. Go nuts! -Dan
  15. I have not been able to be on the board much lately. So can someone explain what happened to get Sam baneed? If there is a thread that explains it, could someone please post the link? Thanks. http://heavyharmonies.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=14406
  16. What am I, chopped liver? Actually for the last few weeks, Mike and I have been splitting the CD submission duty. I'm doing all of the contest submissions, and Mike has been taking care of the rest (I don't think Pete or Tim have been processing any lately, but I could be wrong). My apologies if there appears to be a bit of a delay in the contest entries being processed. Like an idiot, I'm running this contest during the months that I'm the busiest at my day job... having to work lots of unpaid overtime (UGH). -Dan
  17. Not bad... not bad... you need to work on the presentation a bit though. You need more capital letters and exclamation points as well as some blank lines to break it up. Also, it's a little too coherent. Needs a bit more of a stream-of-consciousness feel to it. I give it an A-. Good effort! -Dan
  18. Sam has always stated that if someone was dissatisfied with the "reissues" he sells, he would refund their payment following return of the merchandise (just make sure you send it back by Registered Mail). Please let us know how it turns out. -Dan
  19. Convenience and durability of the CD format compared to vinyl. CD is the format that has been dominant for most of the time period that this music has been available. From the early 1990s onward, very little in the genre has been available on vinyl. Vinyl has been relegated to a niche format that audiophiles use; it no longer has mass market penetration. -Dan
  20. Not that I don't believe you, but given what "he" has been able to get away with thus far, including using his eBay status/connections to bully others and have their auctions shut down on a whim, I'll believe it when I see it. However, realizing that these things do take time, and hoping that some good may ultimately come of it, are the primary reasons that I (1) placed a time limit on how long people can edit their posts here (to prevent the rewriting of history), and (2) have not simply removed the Retrospect forum, instead leaving it as a viewable archive of the public record (not surprising that "he" has repeatedly, begged, pleaded, threatened, and demanded that I remove that part of the forum... conceivably the contradictions therein could be used as evidence). -Dan
  21. If you were a true fan you would be happy and bow down and be grateful that someone is making the effort and the self-sacrifice to take the time to make this music available to the masses. You're nothing but a "detractor". </SARCASM> No one believes the hogwash that Sam/Retrospect isn't the party behind all of the Time Warp/Rock-It "reissues". Unfirtunately, the reality is that at the end of the day, it really doesn't matter how much evidence you have, because unless an aggrieved party with deep pockets or the Federal authorities (unlikely) press the matter, he's free to do what he wants. Folks bringing up the illegal bootlegging here are just spitting into the wind. *shrug* -Dan P.S. Just because it was a CDR does *NOT* mean that some enterprising soul *cough* hasn't had a couple hundred silver pressed, in which case customers will never be the wiser...
  22. Thanks for the submissions thus far. I have a request for the peanut gallery: I don't have time right now to go out and research every submission and verify that each one is (1) valid, and (2) appropriate for the site. If you see any newly-added CDs that set off alarm bells in your mind, for any reason, please post about it here and we'll discuss. For example, the Mind Bomb - S/T disc I initially thought probably wasn't appropriate due to references to the "industrial" nature of some of the tracks in online reviews, but Matt was kind enough to send me some samples, and in fact, I think the overall nature of the disc fits in perfectly. Thanks! -Dan
  23. At some point, although I don't know how soon. I want to make sure that the system is working and stable at HH before I implement it at the other sites... -Dan
