  1. Been about a year since I changed the song lineup for the HH Radio Feed, more than a bit overdue... About 10 songs remain from the old lineup, but all the others are new, so enjoy! Here's one of the new tracks, one that I had completely forgotten about. Just a monster chorus: Mystery Song
  2. Just fucking retire already. This guy has now proven that he's not the "everyman working joe" persona the media has made him out to be over the years... he's just another egotistical plick athlete. He's held the Packers hostage for how many years now? Retired. Unretired. Reretired. Just fucking go away. He holds a cryingfest of a press conference saying how he just can't play anymore, waah, waah, so the Packers move on to the next chapter, only to have this twat pull the rug out, going "HAHA! Fooled ya!!" Gimme a fucking break. The guy I feel bad for is Aaron Rodgers. He's in a lose-lose situation, being thrust in the spotlight and expected to measure up to an impossible goal, yet not given the opportunity to gain experience that other newbie quarterbacks get. Not to say that the Packers organization is totally blameless, but I put 80% of the blame for this fiasco on THAT EGOTISTICAL MORON's shoulders. I certainly think less of him today, and I'm not even a Packers fan. Although I suppose that since most "true" Packer fans think the sun shines out of THAT EGOTISTICAL MORON's ass, they'll worship at his pedestal and burn Aaron Rodgers in effigy for DARING to think he might be a quarterback when he grows up. Feh. The whole thing stinks like yesterday's diapers, and THAT EGOTISTICAL MORON is the source of the shit.
  3. Walsh is considered the "definitive" Kansas lead vocalist, as he was with them for all but two (I think) albums. That being said, I've always loved Elefante's voice, and really dig the albums he did with the band. If you can find it, there's a 1982(?) VHS tape called "Kansas Greatest Hits Live" which was recorded right after Elefante joined the band, and features him doing all the Kansas mainstays. Really a damned fine performance! Never been released on DVD, and unlikely to ever be, as the band pretty much disowns the Elefante era (which pisses me off). Kinda like KISS disowns the 80s material (which IMO was their best material). There was a bootleg DVD of the Kansas performance floating around on eBay for a while, but I never got around to buying one; no idea as to the quality. I have the VHS tape, but it's a bit munged; not suitable for creating a DVD. Anyone have a line on a decent quality DVD transfer of this performance? Me wants. -Dan
  4. Hi everyone. I'd like to firstly thank all the people who sent their regards and supported Retrospect through what could have been a potential disaster at Rocklahoma. It's a miracle nobody was hurt and I'd like to re-iterate how proud I am to be part of a huge Melodic Rock family who always seem to pull together when the chips are down. I will maintain that the fans and the bands are the best in the industry! Rocklahoma was still a huge success for Retrospect Records and I will certainly be a part of many more festivals to come. It was quite a thrill to see bands like Mariah , Wild August , Biloxi , Valor and many others reunite after such a long time. A dvd release of Rocklahoma will be released in October. Our commitment to preserving the best era in Rock continues by announcing the following TWENTY new releases at Retrospect Records... MASS "Voices in the Night" +2 (1989) - Highly regarded by many as a classic slab of top-notch U.S. Melodic Metal , this release was produced by Michael Sweet of Stryper. Now featuring a previously unreleased bonus track and the elusive JAPAN ONLY track , Voices in the Night is a staple of how great 80s Metal was. Very Highly Recommended. MASS "Take You Home" +1 (1988) - Inbetween 'New Birth' and 'Voices' , Mass recorded this hi-octane EP back in '88 and continues to show the progress and amazing talent of this underrated Boston-based quartet. Now boosted with a previously unreleased bonus track , these 7 songs scream U.S. Melodic Metal at its finest. MARIAH self-titled +1 (1990) + "Somewhere Between Heaven and Earth" +1 (1991) - In case you missed them the first time around , the first two Mariah albums have now been digitally remastered with each boasting an additional bonus track and new artwork. Mariah has been one of the top sellers from the massive Retrospect roster and it's not hard to see why. Under the wing of Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora in the late 80s / early 90s , Mariah has been praised worldwide for their monstrous melodic rock / AOR songwriting skills. Features the soulful vocals of Dennis Lind , ex-Lynn Allen guitarist Tim Compton and of course ex-Waysted , Tyketto , Doro keyboard / guitar man Jimmy Dilella who co-wrote Tyketto's smash hit 'Forever Young'. Mariah has never sounded better! PAIRADICE self-titled (1989) - Highly-Touted Sunset Strip Hair Metal featuring Vocalist Paul Lancia and guitarists Dave Marshall (Vince Neil Band) and Billy D'vette (Cold Sweat). PROBLEM CHILD "Smashin Time" (1994) - Melodic Hard Rock from Milwaukee and a huge collectible in Melodic Hard Rock circles , Smashin Time finally gets the re-issue it deserves featuring powerful vocals , shredding axework and huge production. An absolute winner! HEAVEN'S WISH self-titled (1994) - Finally the wait is over , Detroit-based Heaven's Wish also gets the re-issue treatment and features 2 previously unreleased bonus tracks. Killer production and stellar musicianship makes this cd an essential addition to the collection. For fans of Ratt , Heavens Edge , XYZ etc... CHAMPION "Halfway To Heaven" (1988) - Not to confuse this US five piece with the Canadian band featuring Alex Machin. This bunch hailed from Ohio and released their one and only album “Halfway To Heaven” independently and disappeared from the scene straight after the release in 1988. Produced by OUTLAWS / GODZ guitarist Freddie Salem “Halfway To Heaven” is a wet dream for classic 80s AOR lovers which are into keyboard dominated sounds. This album reminds me of BYSTANDER, TRADIA and HONEYMOON SUITE’s “The Big Prize” and this surely will wet the appetite of every 80s AOR lover. Nine classic 80s AOR tunes and no filler in sight. CRUSH "This" (1994) - While the rest of Seattle stewed in shoe-gazing , flannel-ridden godawful grunge , CRUSH was ripping out some serious 80s-style Melodic Hard Rock with great hooks. Recommended to fans of: Danger Danger , Warrant , AdrianGale , Firehouse etc... KELLEY'S HEROES self-titled (1992) - Kelley's Heroes were another one of the big sunset strip acts of the early 90s that never got the recognition they deserved. This cd represents their tough heavy metal / hard rock swagger in the style of: Skid Row , Sven Gali , The Scream and Freak of Nature. First time ever on cd. GINGER ROXX "Caught in the Act" (1987) - Late 80s Glam / Hair Metal from Ohio. First time ever on cd. GLASTETTER self-titled (1989) - Another cool find for the avid collectors of obscure 80s Hair Metal. Missouri-based Glastetter recorded these tracks between 1987 & 1989 and 20 years later finally see the light of day on cd. Check it out! BOOTCAMP "Final Drill" (1980-1985) - AOR fans and collectors all over the world have fallen all over themselves for years trying to get a hold of these extremely obscure tracks and now we have them all on cd for the first time ever. Many tracks have never seen the light of day before in any format. What we have here are 12 top-notch early 80s melodic rock / AOR tunes loaded with rich keyboards , big hooks and very tasty guitar work. Highly Recommended to fans of: Beau Geste , Fortune , I-Ten , The Producers etc... PYRAMID "Hieroglyphics" (1989) - Hooky High Quality Hair Metal from Pennsylvania - finally on cd after 20 years! Vyper meets Bonfire meets Dokken. BOMBAY self-titled (1985) - A highly regarded collectible among vinyl collectors and now released on cd for the first time , Bombay was formed from the ashes of another cult U.S. Melodic Rock act 'Fortnox'. This sole ep was produced by the legendary Eddy Offord and features a healthy dose of super hooks and big harmonies. For fans of: Riggs , Fortress , Illusion , Dakota. NAKED CITY "Crawlin" (1993) - Obscure Las Vegas-based Melodic Rock / AOR produced by Brett Hansen (Limousine / Fingerprint / Troka). A worthy addition to the 80s Rock collection. VICTORY GROUP "Tomorrow" (1982) - Excellent early 80s Canadian AOR / Melodic Rock in the style of: Rick Springfield , Prism , Alliance and Franke & the Knockouts. SHYANNE self-titled (1982) - Classic early 80s underground Pomp Rock / AOR gem highly recommended to fans of: Roadmaster , Detective , All Sports Band and The Tubes. LIFER self-titled (1980) - Another extremely obscure Pomp Rock treasure similar to early Styx , Gambler , Fairchild and Kansas. FRONTRUNNER "Up-n-Cummin" (1994) - Second release by this underrated St Louis-based AOR / Hair Metal act. From the Bon Jovi-ish "Face the Music" to the Warrant-inspired title track , Frontrunner deserves its place in your cd player today! You can find all these titles and over 250 more in our catalog at www.retrospectrecords.com Thanks! Sam McCaslin CEO-President Retrospect Records
  5. I got burned out on CSI: Las Vegas. Not sure why, because I used to really enjoy it. I enjoy the campiness of CSI: Miami, and seriously enjoy CSI:NY (the ensemble is really good in that one). The original L&O has just gotten old, and while I really like Richard Belzer in SVU, I can't stand the lead duo or the DA in that series. NUMB3RS is good, but it's a little too predictable and light and fluffy. The two shows that are "appointment TV" for me are Criminal Minds and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. The ensemble in L&O: CI is better than the other two, IMO. I really like Vincent D'nofrio (sp?) and his insights/quirkiness, and what longtime L&O fan doesn't like Chris Noth? I was sorry to see Jamey Sheridan leave the cast though. While not a drama and more documentary, I find myself watching "The First 48" on A&E a lot. -Dan
  6. How the years turn... seems like only yesterday HH was a figment of my imagination, spun off from wanting to list my CD collection. 11 or so years later.... The 10,000th CD has been added to the Heavy Harmonies database. The CD deserving of such a distinction is: Foreigner - No End in Site: The Very Best of Foreigner Seems somehow fitting that a disc from one of the 1970s/1980s greatest AOR/arena rock bands be so chosen. (IMO, Foreigner 4 is the quintessential Foreigner album, but that's another discussion for another time.) Thanks to Mike (whiplash1972), Pete (Blue Charvel), Ty (T-BONE), and Tim (TIM) for their assistance and hard work over the past few years in keeping the wheels chugging along. Also, my thanks to the community here. A happy, crazy, somewhat dysfunctional family... with amazing taste in music! Now... on to the second 10,000 CDs! -Dan
  7. Glad you like the discs. Thanks for the biz! -Dan

  10. Just wanted to give a quick update. With 10 days left in the annual donation drive, there have been 73 donations, totalling just over $800, or enough to cover 4 months of out-of-pocket costs. Thanks to all who have donated!! -Dan
  11. Creed was not a Christian band. Scott Stapp went out of his way to let people know they were not a Christian band Well there was also a Christian hard rock band named Creed, but completely unrelated. I think that is what prompted some confusion.
  12. The chorus has a very power metal feel... Edguy? Iron Savior? I'm trying to pin it down. http://www.heavyharmonies.com/audio/Saint_...on_My_Heart.mp3 HH Page: http://www.heavyharmonies.com/cgi-bin/glam...+from+the+Brave
  13. WE'VE DONE IT!! Suncity Records are very proud to announce yet another great signing. This time we have landed in Poland, of all places. Our new signing is a band called Lessdress and they have to be heard to be believed! Some die hard collectors of Melodic Rock outside of Poland may have heard of these guys before due to their mega rare 1993 release entitled "Sex Industry". Sex Industry fetches up to $US250 when it's rarely seen on Ebay and if you think that album is good, just wait to hear what Suncity Records will be releasing!! Now I know what you're thinking and I'd be thinking the exact same thing. Poland isn't known for its top quality Melodic Rock bands and also the first thing I think of when I hear about a European band is - I hope the singer's accent isn't too over the top! The answer to the question is absolutely NOT!! You would swear black 'n' blue that the singer "Pawel Nowakowski" picked up his accent and attitude straight outta the streets of Hollywood, CA. All songs are of course sung in English too. The album that Suncity Records will be releasing is Lessdress' mega rare (even in their home country) previously cassette only debut from 1989 "Dumblondes". Of course, being a Suncity product you can expect the music has been fully digitally re-mastered and taken straight from the original master tapes, which I may add sound out of this world!! The production on this album is second to none. Not many Hard Rock releases can boost about having better production than this in 1989. Believe me when I say, there are not enough good things I can say about the album. To this day, the Dumblondes cassette still attracts in excess of $US150 on eBay so you get an idea of what the collectors think of it. I had searched high and low for these guys over the last 3-4 years now and due to the language barrier and a few other things, it has been extremely difficult. I was beginning to think it was never going to happen. But I just couldn't go to my grave knowing that the fans would never have the chance to own this superb album on CD. I guess albums like these are what drives me to keep Suncity Records on top of the pile. Lessdress are every bit as good as the greats of the scene. When I'm cranking the album I think of the glory days of Skid Row, Slash Puppet, Wildside, Dirty Rhythm, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Shotgun Messiah, Nasty Idols, Slam St. Joan, Barely Legal, Roxx Gang, Bang Gang, Sweet Cheater, Dirty Penny, Swedish Erotica, Smash L.A., Spoyld, Southgang and the Canadian band Jester. I have absolutely no doubt that if Lessdress were in the States back in the Hard Rock boom time, they would have been signed to a major label. They would have blown most of the Sleaze/Glam bands on the strip out of the water. With every spin, Dumblondes is quickly becoming one of my favorite hard rock albums ever!! Like Firehouse's self first two albums, like Skid Row's first two albums, Dumblondes is very, very hard to fault. Basically if you love booming backing vocals, blistering guitars, an L.A. attitude, masterful song writing, catchy rockin' radio friendly chorus' and stellar production, this album will go down as one of your favorites too. I will be very interested in hearing how some of the reviews pan out. Once I get going, I tend to bang on and on so let cut to the chase for what you've been waiting for - picture yourself driving your convertible on a ripping summer's day back in 1989, you have the radio cranked to 11 and this tune comes on, it's a song called "Sweet Venice" and it will be on the upcoming Suncity Records release by Lessdress. I hope you enjoy!! Sound Sample: Lessdress - Sweet Venice From Poland to the fantastic rock 'n' roll nation of Sweden, is were we find ourselves our second signing of the month, Road Ratt. The story behind Road Ratt is quite an extensive one, so I will try and make it as brief as possible. Road Ratt formed in Gothenburg, Sweden as IcewingIcewing briefly changed to Hot 'N' Spicy before a British bikers-gang inspired the permanent change to Road Ratt. The band added the extra "t" in Ratt to have equal amount of letters in both words for the logo to look balanced. With Ola Johansson (Bass) and Patrik Herrstrom (Drums) as replacements the band participated in an international band contest called Band Explosion. Out of 800 Scandinavian contenders, Road Ratt reached Top-4, and it was at that time when the local press started to take notice. Determined not to be a talent show phenomenon, Road Ratt now focused on their live act and on writing new material for a second demo. 1992 was when Road Ratt really put their mark on the music scene with the release of their debut album "Reel 2". Nominated for a Swedish Grammy in the category Best Hard Rock Album along with Electric Boys, Candlemass and Sator, Road Ratt ended up losing out to Sator. In 1993 the band were nominated for Best Newcomer and Best Album at Swedish Zeppelin-Awards. Losing out this time to Clawfinger in both cases. Road Ratt however performed live at the event broadcasted by M.T.V.'s Headbangers Ball. The Headbangers Ball episode hosted by Vanessa Warwick featured a lengthy interview with the band and the international premiere for their Itsypooked video. After the tour, work began on a second album but the Grunge Scene was taking over and the band members started on side projects resulting in lack of commitment. The album with the working title "Young Nurses In Love" never made the finish line, and the saga was over. Now back by popular demand in 2008, the band have teamed up with Suncity Records and work has finished on the final touches of their unreleased second album now entitled "You Love Us". To me, Road Ratt's "You Love Us" album sounds uncannily like U.S. hard rocker Saigon Kick's much acclaimed album "The Lizard". This is an album that really grows on you over time and is sure to make waves in the Hard Rock scene. Check out the featured track on the album called "Going To Eden". Sound Sample: Road Ratt - Going To Eden The great signings keep coming with the special announcement of the signing of Hollywood's Masque. Masque burst onto the Hollywood scene in early 1985, quickly attracting a loyal following. Playing at legendary hot spots around town including The Troubadour, The Whisky, The Roxy Theatre, Gazzarri's and many other top L.A. venues, Masque had something special. Shortly after departing Hollywood rockers Network (who were incidentally formed by original Quiet Riot drummer Drew Forsyth), Tony Kelly teamed up with guitar extraordinaire - Dale Fine. Tony Kelly and Dale Fine originally met in their hometown of Las Vegas, joining forces a few years later in Hollywood to form Masque. Along with ex-Network bassist Bruff Brigham and former Chicago based Hard Rock outfit Thrust, drummer for Ross Cristao was the last cog in the Masque line-up. Masque was one of the first bands to move away from the "Black Leather & Studs" image which was so prominent at that time in Hollywood spawned by Motley Crue, W.A.S.P., L.A. Guns and many others. Wanting to stand out from the crowd Masque focused on unique colorful clothing and a stage show influenced by their 70's glam rock heroes including The Dolls, KISS, Sweet, David Bowie and others. The Masque image really caught on and was eventually borrowed by some of the biggest bands of that decade. Masque shared the bill with various unsigned bands at the time including Poison, Warrant, Stryper, Bulletboys and Guns N' Roses (who at the time were an opening act). Masque was unable to move to national fame due to internal group conflicts coupled with record label issues. The band's lineup subsequently changed to include guitarist Kevin James and drummers Mark Goodin and John Haro. At times lead signer Tony Garcia sounds like Tony Hernell of TNT fame. When he hits notes, your windows will rattle. I suppose it's a given that all Suncity artists know their may around an axe, there is no exception here. Guitarist "Dale Fine" really puts his mark all over the music very reminiscent of Erik Turner & Joey Allen from Warrant. Suncity Records will be releasing ALL of Masque's un-released material packed into the 1 CD which will be called "Face First". After hours and hours in the studio re-mastering, boosting and tweeting the tunes, they have come out sounding superb! Check out the featured song of the upcoming Face First album called "Walk Tight" to get a really good feel of what this legendary Hollywood band had going on back in the glory dayz. Sound Sample: Masque - Walk Tight I would like to quickly take this opportunity to sincerely thank all the fans that have purchased our latest 3 releases in Johnny Crash, Cruella D'ville & Androids. All feedback so far has been nothing short of fantastic!!

  15. Hmmm... I could be mistaken, but this thread appears to have gone slightly 'round the bend... It's a giant Romper Room, I tell ya.
  16. Retrospect Records is excited to announce the following new releases: ARRIVAL "Point of Origin" - AOR fans and collectors rejoice! Here we have one of the most amazing collection of AOR gems ever assembled on one disc. Arrival hail from Denver and here we have 10 mind-blowing tracks of pure melodic rock featuring previously unreleased recordings by none other than MARK FREE (King Kobra , Signal , Unruly Child). After King Kobra and before Signal , Mark recorded five fantastic AOR tracks with Arrival and here they are in all their remastered glory. Sharing vocal duties with Mark is the equally talented Michael Badagliacco and between these two singers , we have an instant Melodic Rock classic. Retrospect once again unearths a masterpiece which must be heard to be believed. Massive hooks , World-class musicianship and a top-notch production makes this cd an essential addition to your AOR collection. This release could definitely be a contender for album of the year and comes highly recommended to fans of Journey , Styx , Survivor , Alliance , Toto and Franke & the Knockouts and of course Mark Free. Arrival has also dug out more original copies of their highly acclaimed 1999 release "Delayed" which will also be for sale exclusively through Retrospect Records. PRETTY BOY "The Metro Sessions" - For the first time ever on cd , here is another fantastic slice of 80s AOR / Melodic Hard Rock / Hair Metal from Retrospect Records. If you are familiar with the three highly-touted releases by the band MARIAH then you'll know that Pretty Boy was the moniker they used back in the late 80s before changing their name to Mariah. Here we have the unmistakable vocal pipes of Dennis Lind , the tasty guitar work of Tim Compton (ex-Lynn Allen) , and drummer Curt Bearden who are joined on this release by brothers John and Bill Brown on bass and keys respectively. These recordings are the songs that prompted JON BON JOVI himself to start working with the band...and it's not hard to see why. These sessions sound like they could have come directly off of Slippery When Wet or 7800 Fahrenheit. Hit after hit , huge production and vocal harmonies galore. Some may say these recordings were actually better than the Mariah material. Easily one of the best 80s melodic albums you've never heard , and now you have the opportunity. Truly amazing stuff! D.C. LACROIX "Livin By the Sword" + "Crack of Doom" - In the late 80s this female-fronted Hard Rock act rocked the world with two albums that have never seen the light of day on cd , until now. Featuring blistering axework and the unique vocals of Sylvie Lacroix makes this release a nice acquisition for fans and collectors of 80s Hard Rock. REAL STEEL "Real Steel" - Again , for the first time ever on cd Retrospect unleashes another killer slice of 80s Melodic Metal / Hard Rock. Just when you think you've heard it all , Real Steel fires on all six with their hi-octane brand of Hard Rock. Imagine the melodic metal of bands like Dokken , Scorpions , WASP and Accept meets the pure Hard Rock of Cinderella , Quiet Riot and AC/DC and you have the majesty of REAL STEEL. No 80s Metal fan should be without this ass-kicking release. Real Steel will be performing at Rocklahoma this year. ESSENTIAL! LETCHEN GREY "Party Politics" - Originally released on LP and cassette only back in 1986 , Letchen Grey finally sees a cd release of this collectible EP. Quite a gem , with some infectious hooks and smoking guitar work , this sunset strip act could strut their stuff with the best of em. Highly recommended to fans of: Dokken , Vyper , Metalwolf , Tuff Luck , Motley Crue etc.. MATRIX "Matrix" - Hailing from the Chicago area , Matrix recorded quite a few demos back in the early 90s that never saw a cd release before now. This is quality progressive metal with a vocalist in Terry Higgins that showcases his impressive range , not to mention the shredding lead guitar work from Alby Odum. Similar to bands like Fates Warning , Watchtower , Queensryche and Manilla Road. MALICE "The Rare and Unreleased" - 80s Metal legends Malice raided their vaults and found no less than 18 rare demos and previously unreleased tracks for this comprehensive collection. Malice released two super full-length albums of melodic metal titled "License to Kill" and "In the Beginning" which saw much success in the mid to late 80s. Now you can complete your Malice collection. TOMMY HAD A VISION "Scarred for Life" - Salt Lake City-based cohorts T.H.V. unleash their third album through Retrospect Records and it's quite a corker! Produced by Mark Kendall of Great White , THV serve up a healthy dose of true 80s-style Hard Rock similar to bands like Motley Crue , Great White , Dokken and Ratt. Excellent release from a real up-n-comer who also happens to be one of the headliners on the Retrospect stage at Rocklahoma this year. Retrospect Records is set to release another 40 to 50 albums this year including some heavyweight AOR gems so keep an eye on this website as well as www.retrospectrecords.com for more details!! See you at Rocklahoma!

  18. Bought, thanks. The U.S. release has a bonus live disc as well. woot. -Dan
  19. It's a moot point. In a few weeks you won't be able to leave anything but positive feedback for buyers anyway, thanks to eBay's lamebrained new policy.
  20. I'm embarrassed that I didn't notice this release 2 years ago. This is the band of ex-Within Temptation keyboardist Martijn Westerholt (brother of Robert Westerholt from WT). It is very similar to WT, and Sharon from WT sings vocals on one of the tracks. Here are two of my favorite tracks from their CD: A Day for Ghosts The Gathering
  21. Just want to give a quick update. 39 donations totaling a little over $400 have been received in the first 2 weeks of the donation drive. Just to give a frame of reference: Between server hardware, bandwidth, server admin/support, the message board, chatroom, and radio feed, that $400 will cover approximately two months of out-of-pocket costs (it ain't cheap). Thanks to all who have donated thus far! -Dan
  22. Samples added from all 11 tracks: http://www.heavyharmonies.com/cgi-bin/glam...ir&Letter=A Enjoy, -Dan
  23. Upgrading servers (again). Let me know if anything is wonky on the main site... -Dan
  24. Moving to Wyoming? Doesn't that like double the population of the state?
