Artificial harmonics squeal over rhythm guitars played through a wall of Marshall stacks. Bon Jovi-esque vocals inspire images of chest hair and leather.

Doug Russell

Inspired by the hard-driving rock of Deep Purple and Grand Funk Railroad, North Carolina-born bassist/vocalist Kyle "Duke" Miller had no idea that he was putting a Southern rock band together when he and drummer Johnny Scott formed Dukes Nitemare in October 1995. It wasn't until releasing a self-titled debut album, recorded within three months of their inception, that critics began to point out the connection to other Southern rock groups, including the Allman Brothers Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Dixie Dregs.

Although Dukes Nitemare recorded their second album, Willows, featuring guitarist Donnie Christianson, in early 1996, it remained unreleased until 2000, when it became available via http://www.mp3.com. By then, a second self-titled album, recorded with lead guitarist L.A. Stubbs in 1997, had been available for three years. ~ Craig Harris, All Music Guide
