Septic Flesh 'Communion'

Faust

Ok i'm not usually into this kind of music except for a few bands like the mighty Nile...

The new Septicflesh is a pure masterpiece of Pomp Heavy Dark death music with splendid orchestrations. Songs like 'Anubis' or 'Persepolis' are true gems...

Any fans here ?

Seriously, you like NILE? I love my Death Metal but even I can't get into them. They have to be about as technical as D.M gets, often disappearing up their own arses in technicality (the drumming is absurd - even though it's obviously triggered). I can enjoy bands like DEICIDE, PESTILENCE, DECAPITATED & HATE ETERNAL, but NILE are just lunatics...

Yes :)

I really love Nile. Because of their 'pomp' side. The antic egyptian orchestrations and feeling, the wild brutality of the songs, the totaly insane Karl Sander's vocals...etc. I like Pestilence as well, but I prefer pomp death metal... BTW if you know cool bands in this style let them come...

Don't know much about Septic Flesh but my bro (the death metal guy in the family) loooooooves NILE. They don't do a thing for me but their song title "Masturbating the War God" was one of the funniest things I'd seen in a while

HAHHAAHAH LOL

These guy are really sick !

the lyrics :

Evil sick flames cast uncertain shadowsin the dimly lit Temple of

Anhur as we count the dead and vanquished by hacking off their

phalluses and piling the severed hands before the living stone

image of God.

The shamed and humbled women of the subjugated kneel in hopeless

Aquiescence as we grasp them by the hair and force them to serve

our father Anhur.

Yea we impale them on the massive stone member of the Ithyphallic

War God until the backs of their throats are torn out and their

bowels are ripped apart.

One by one we force the female captives to serve the Ahati until

the Gods legs are awash with blood and his phallus drips with

red and black gore Un snem sheth tesher mekhsefu parthal m aba

neth Anhur.

We lay our bloodstained weapons of Iron on the altar of Anhur and

His Seed blesses us with strength to slay our enemies Like as unto

Menthu we have become Ithyphallic.

The mighty Sekhmet is with us.

funny

But Keith, Septic Flesh is far from Nile. Its much more melodic and heavy. Just listen to this song, maybe you will like :

You should avoid the new Pestilence album then, as it's back to their straight Death Metal (I love it!) after that jazzy "Spheres" stuff. You should try CYNIC, they're pretty progressive/bombastic, and ATHEIST followed the same path as Pestilence did too. Assume you already own stuff like STRAPPING YOUNG LAD and OPETH?....

I have the first Cynic which is for me a real masterpiece. I have to order their latest one, but I'm afraid thay can't reach the high class of their first one...

SYL and Opeth are both fantastic bands (I'm a great D. Townsend fan)

Atheist : I only have Piece Of Time which is excellent

Pestilence : I don't have any CD from that band...

CYNIC is not really my thing, but my mate loves them (he loves bombastic/proggy extreme metal) and he said the 2nd album is killer. The Pestilence album you might want to try is "Spheres", which is loosely Death Metal but with strange jazzy beats and off-kilter rhythms. They got routinely slaughtered for it by all their D.M fans but it's pretty clever & interesting stuff IMO....

SCAR SYMMETRY is more like Proggy/Melodic Death Metal. It's not really pomp, but is a mix of Death Metal (some growling vocals) & aggressive guitar, with layers of keyboards & some lush melodic chorus lines (that verge on AOR at times). It's an interesting mix, made better by a stunning vocalist (who's now sadly left the band) & given your tastes I'd definitely expect you to love "Holographic Universe". If you get chance go check out their tune "Morphogenesis" on Youtube, which is the most commercial tune on the CD....

Established in 2022 by the visionary frontman Aviroop Basu, the band's inception signaled the emergence of a musical force destined to captivate audiences worldwide. In December 2022, Fire In The Rodeo unveiled their maiden opus, the demo single "Back for More." This inaugural offering showcased their mastery over their chosen genres and provided a tantalizing glimpse into their musical prowess. Building upon the fervor ignited by their debut, the band resounded once again in July 2023 with their second single, "Ready To Fight." With this release, they cemented their status as a rising musical powerhouse, earning fervent accolades from aficionados and critics alike.   Fire In The Rodeo's artistic genesis draws inspiration from the illustrious lineage of Kix, Scorpions, Whitesnake, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Ratt, Motley Crue, among other luminaries. Such influences seamlessly intertwine within their compositions, resulting in a harmonious synthesis of sonic excellence. A defining hallmark of their artistry lies in their reverence for the 80s era of rock 'n' roll—a golden age that continues to resonate deeply within their musical ethos. By infusing modern nuances into this revered soundscape, Fire In The Rodeo conjures a distinctive auditory experience that marries the classic with the contemporary.   Their sonic tapestry is woven with roaring anthemic guitars, percussive rhythms that reverberate through the soul, and guitar riffs that scorch with undeniable intensity. Aviroop Basu's vocals ascend to extraordinary heights, delivering a high-octane performance that transcends musical boundaries. The band's chorus lines, irresistibly catchy and persistently memorable, have an uncanny ability to embed themselves within the listener's consciousness—a testament to the compositional brilliance they wield.   Amidst their meteoric ascent, Fire In The Rodeo solidified their trajectory by signing a landmark worldwide deal with the esteemed record label Lions Pride Music in 2023. This milestone paves the way for the much-anticipated release of their debut album in February 2025—an event that promises to redefine the contemporary rock landscape. As the journey of Fire In The Rodeo unfolds, their music serves as a tribute to an era bygone, a testament to the evolution of sound, and a testimony to the enduring allure of rock 'n' roll.

    • I just stumbled across this power trio.... not too bad at all. The vocalist reminds me of a cross between Lex Koritni and Chris Cornell in some tunes. Nice production and good sound.
