I've always loved Twisted Sister - chessy as hell, sometimes, but a cracking band. I was quite shocked when I saw this

Yeah I think Chinese Democracy didn't sell that well. Question is, will bestbuy or target do the same with the next release or will they be more careful in ordering large amounts of CDs because of bad experience in the past? According to the band members they are working on a new album and will release something, but always said to be patient as well and that it's not gonna be in the near future.
The reason it didn't sell well because it's a different sounding album than 'Appetite' or 'Illusion'. Usually the moment a band walk away from their early formula, that's when the sales dissipated.
GnR's been pathetic since ...
(scratches head)
...sh*t, at least 1989.
If GnR had died in a plane crash on the way home from the "Appetite" tour and left that album as their only legacy, they'd still be revered today. Unfortunately, the increasingly cartoonish antics of W. Asshole Rose f*cked it up.
Disagree completely mate. With 'Illusion', GNR reached much more audience especially they have 'November Rain' and 'Estranged', among the best songs ever made on earth. 'Illusion' albums were packed with lots of different styles, from punk, heavy metal, blues, pop, etc and one man's trash is another man's treasure. The strategy of providing a lot of tracks, as we've discussed it earlier, usually proved fruitful because many people with different taste will appreciate that.
'November Rain' was written for AFD ... as was 'You Could Be Mine' ...

I saw them live in the early to mid 90s at Milton Keynes bowl........amazing gig.
That's how I want to remember them.
I still think my self insanely lucky to have seen them at Donington in '88, before they released 'Lies' ...

What about the Illusions era and massive tour in support of the albums? Sure, musically it wasn't the same anymore but they would have still ended on a good note because that's when they really took off and were the biggest band in the world. Of course it's just exposure in the media and popularity but I think it still counts for something they were everywhere, TV, radio, news headlines so that should count for something, they were a pop cultural phenomenon during the early 90s
You could trim both 'Illusion' albums and make one bona-fide great disc - waaaaaaay too much 'filler' on those discs for me.
I haven't bothered with the band since it became 'Axl And Blokes'. My cousin paid a small fortune for a 'meet 'n' greet' when they played the O2 Arena, and I didn't recognise anyone in the photos (apart from my cousin, obviously.) But, hey, Axl owns the name so he can trash it in whatever way he sees fit ...

Kix: Midnite Dynamite

Sammy Hagar: Sammy Hagar & Friends

Heaven's Gate: Heaven's Gate
Cross Canadian Ragweed: Happiness And All The Other Things

I wondered about Twisted Sister ... they had the same recording line up from their debut album through to 'Come Out And Play'? The same line-up then reunited for 'Still Hungry' and that bloody Christmas album ...
'Love Is For Suckers' was supposed to be a Dee Snider solo effort, rather than a TS album, and doesn't feature AJ Pero.

Kate Bush: The Red Shoes

Terry Pratchett - R.I.P.

The world of books has lost someone very special. I'd like to think that, somewhere, his favourite anthropomorphic personification greeted him warmly, in THAT VOICE.

I'm never sure if I like Moonspell or not - I'll hear a song, and think it's really good; then I hear another that is so bad it has me wondering if it's the same band ...
Quite like this, though ...

Things are way different than I imagined they would be. By 31 I thought I would have had things figured out. I most certainly didn't think I would still be in retail (and thankful to even have a job). I've been keeping a journal for several years now. I believe Geoff said only unhappy people keep journals. I tend to believe that's true. I've tried to read things I've written down and I cringe. It's just a reminder of all the ways I've been kicked around. Recently I went back and read some of the things I wrote over the last few months. It actually brought a smile to my face. I'm still not where I want to be, but maybe I'm closer to it. Coming back to Oregon has turned out way better than I could have imagined. And if I keep pursuing the things I want I might actually get them. One could hope
.
I don't think you're alone in this ... if someone had told me that at the grand age of ... *coughcough* ... I'd be where I am now, I'd have thought them mad. Still, everything happens for a reason, and you have to keep thinking about the positives ...

The Police kept hold of the same three members throughout their time with A&M - their original guitarist, Henry Padovani, appears on their debut single, but was ousted after Andy Summers joined the band (and before their debut album was recorded.)
They were only together for 8 years, but they were ALWAYS on the radio when I was growing up

Yeah, he was active in everything. Where's the dude at?
He's been really busy with work - and I mean REALLY busy. I only get the odd text/e-mail from him these days.
What does he do?
Man who's really busy with work ?The only logic that makes sense is 'gigolo'
I've known him for years ... I think he'd be the first to admit that he'd make the worst gigolo in the world!
-
The Beatles didn't change their line up for the whole of their recording career ... Pete Best and Stuart Sutcliffe left/were fired before their first album was released.
-
Led Zeppelin
Messrs Plant, Page and Jones have played as Zeppelin with Jason Bonham on drums - does that count as a change? Or are we only taking about recording line-ups?
-
I think AEROSMITH and RUSH too
John Rutsey played drums on the first Rush album ...
Richie Supa and Jimmy Crespo both played on 'Night In The Ruts' instead of Joe Perry; Rick Dufay replaced Brad Whitford for 'Rock In A Hard Place' ...

Still listen to it after all these years.
