World's End (at bloody last!)

Raise Hell: Not Dead Yet
-
Just finished 'Alamein - War Without Hate', all about the North African campaign during WWII ... of particular interest to me, as my maternal grandfather served with the 8th Army (the 'Desert Rats') during this period

No worries, Geoff was dropped on his head many times as a childThere is no way I could pick a favorite 15. I am surprised though that more don't mention "Knights" and "Realized Fantasy".
You trippin', man? 'Realized Fantasies' is there. I love TNT, but I hate 'Knights.' It is an awful CD and not representative of their sound and style at all. I do actually like 'Break the ice,' but dislike the rest of the disc proper.
Funnily enough, 'Knights ...' is the only TNT disc I own ... trust me to go flying in the face of popular opinion (again!)
Knights was when they were more metal to me and I love all of it. Every song is awesome and the cd cranks with great production.
I love the album ... I bought it on good ol' vinyl after reading a review in 'Kerrang!' magazine ... yes, kids, I'm THAT old ...

Senseless Things: Postcard CV ... I'm particularly pleased with this one, as it includes all 7 tracks from their debut 'Up & Coming' EP (previously, only 6 have been available on CD, and then only as part of the 'Postcard CV/Empire Of The Senseless' double disc)

The Wicker Man (1973)
I've never seen the remake with Cage, and I never will. This cult-classic is often called the "Citizen Kane of Horror," and I now know why. We wouldn't consider it to be Horror by our current standards, but a lot of elements we expect from the genre are present here. It also stars a younger Christopher Lee with hair, and I mean HAIR! That might be the scariest thing in this film.
Speaking of Edward Woodward ...
The Wicker Man is a GREAT film - far better than most of the 'horror' films being put out today ...

The Equalizer (2014)
Denzel Washington reprises his role as the Punisher. Well... he's pretty much the closest thing we've ever had to Frank Castle. If you haven't seen this film, yet, do yourself a favour, and sort your fucking life out.
I can't help but think of Edward Woodward whenever I see a reference to this film ...

Pestilence

Zero DAY - Nevada Beach
-
Die With Your Boots On - Iron Maiden

The kids stayed over again this weekend ...
Hot Fuzz, Wanted and Black Hawk Down (with the boy)
Epic and Wreck It Ralph (with the girls)

I'm still ploughing through the Lee Child/Jack Reacher books ...
-
For X-mas I got the new Michael Connelly,John Sanford, james Patterson and Stephen King books.
I lost track of Stephen King years ago, but I recently found a copy of 'Cell' in a charity shop and decided to pick it up ... I'm glad I did, as it's classic King all the way

Stone Circle: Stone Circle (progressive/death metal - a bit 'Opeth-y' in places)
-
Picked up a whole load of promo discs, courtesy of everyone's least favourite auction site. They're all from the heavier end of the spectrum this time (although the chap does also list more melodic stuff from time to time):
Assailant: Nemesis Within
Terra Firma: Terra Firma
Brimstone: Carving A Crimson Career
Adagio: Dominate
Amorphis: Eclipse
Lost In Tears: Dialogue With Mirror And God
Amaran: Pristine In Bondage
December Wolves: Blasterpiece Theatre
Last Winter: Under The Silver Of Machines
Raise Hell: Not Dead Yet
Benighted: Icon
Fall Of Serenity: Crossfire
Sworn Amongst: Evolution
Distorted: Voices From Within
Dispatched: Motherwar
Darkseed: Diving Into Darkness
Agathodaimon: Blacken The Angel
Agathodaimon: Chapter III
It's my neighbours I feel sorry for ....

Some Christmas viewing ...
We Were Soldiers (with my youngest son ... he's mirroring my liking for a good war film
)
Horton Hears A Who (with my daughters)
Love Actually (with my better half)
-
Boss: Step On It
They were an Aussie band (I think), and this has yet to see the light of day on CD (thank the Lord for the Interwebz), but this is a cracking mid-80s album - crunchy, melodic rock ('Take It Or Leave It' is a particular gem.)
-
The Muppet Christmas Carol
-
The Hard Way - (Michael J Fox and James Woods)
Brilliant film! One of my all-time favourites

Wow Gibbo my opinion is exactly the opposite. Lived the tarja material and couldn't stand the annette stuff. Keen to hear what this incarnation delivers.
Yeah, I know I'm swimming against the tide when it comes to Tarja/Anette ... I can't help but wonder how Floor will cope with the Nightwish set-up, given that she had quite a hefty input to both After Forever and Re-Vamp ...
-
Iron Man ... if I ask REALLY nicely, can I have Pepper Potts for Christmas, please?
-
Threshold - Clone
-
I'm looking forward to hearing this - Floor Jansen has an amazing voice.
I never really liked Nightwish when Tarja was fronting the band - she was far too 'Celine Dion' for my liking (JamesEagle will now hunt me down and kill me), but the stuff they did with Anette Olzon was superb.
I just hope that, in a couple of years' time, we're not reading about how yet another singer has left the Nightwish camp!
