  1. Your not doing digipaks or mini-LP's are you? Is Retrospect going to put the songs titles on the actual CD? Is it going to be silver pressed? Well since there were no answers to my questions, I'll hold on to my original and pass on this. we are not doing digipaks or mini-lp's -- they will all be silver pressed discs. Jillson will have 7 bonus tracks including 4 off the original Jillson ep and 3 from recordings a few years after (which are killer by the way!) -- just finished remastering the Deadly Girl CD -- which i have to say, kicks ass. I see some people talking trash about this CD on the Jillson comments page but man you gotta be deaf to not like this CD. The songs have great hooks, the production is really good, the drums and guitars sound great and Tommy's (Don) vocals just kill. This is absolutely an essential CD to any melodic rock fan. I am just really glad to finally make this CD affordable so a lot more people can enjoy it. Now i don't mean to be a dick here, but I am so tired of elitist collectors having "bragging rights" because they have one of the rarest CD's in the world. Well i am determined to make ALOT of cd's NOT so rare so that your average joe can actually afford it. Dare i say that maybe one day, Retrospect CD's will be collector's items!! LOL.....peace!!
  2. Damn....I will be hitting the Demand button for the cd...talked to Darin of Nemesis...and he was under the impression a cd would be released...and also is a supporter in cd's over digital. on premium releases there will no doubt be a CD release. Nemesis, Crystal Project, Jillson, and others will all definitely have a CD release as i am confident of their success. But others are crapshoots. I pressed up 500 copies of a few titles several years ago and i still have plenty leftover -- for whatever reason - some titles just don't "take off". I believe in them, but others judt don't gravitate to them like i did. An example of this would be the Naked City and Trexel releases which i thought were really good, but have not sold very well. Not sure why, but i understand that everyone has different tastes. I just want to be sure i am investing in the right release before i sink a bunch of money into pressing CD's. I hope this helps to clear things up. We are days away from a huge launch on Retrospect!! Thanks to everyone who continues to support our artists and our vision of preserving great 80s music! Aaron
  3. hey peeps , i would like to share a few songs from our new releases online here, pre-JULY if possible to give you all a taster of whats coming. What would be the best way to do that - Divshare.com?? Is it easy to share a track here on HH? thanks and excuse my ignorance Aaron
  4. yep, all original artwork on the JILLSON disc.
  5. hey guys, yep CD's will still be released of all material, we are just doing a big digital download push of all our releases on July 4th (wait til you see the release list....). We are very interested to see the ratio of how many are downloading and how many are still buying the CD. I hope that clears things up for you! PEACE! Aaron
  6. ok i thought i could wait - but i can't keep it in any longer! Some GREAT news from the Retrospect camp!! Amongst an unprecedented amount of NEW releases on July 4th as Retrospect makes the switch to digital downloads, I am very proud to announce the signing of JILLSON!! Thats right, the highly touted mega indie release will FINALLY get a long awaited re-issue and will be available first as a download (with remastered audio and 3 unreleased bonus tracks!!!) And for all you Jillson / Britny Fox / Tommy Paris fans -- we will also be releasing "Divine Judgement" - a post-Britny Fox band featuring Tommy Paris and Jillson drummer Jamie Borden with a collection of stunning unreleased hard rock songs!! Wait til you hear this folks! We will also be carrying "UNCLE EDNA" -- Tommy's post Britny Fox EP with former bandmate Johnny Dee!! AND THATS NOT ALL!! A few years ago, Tommy and Jamie did ANOTHER fantastic full length hard rock album with ex-Aerosmith guitarist Jimmy Crespo that has never been released!! The project was dubbed "J.J.T." (Jamie, Jimmy, Tommy). And once again, the music is just unbelievable!! As some of you may know, for the last 2 years i have been playing in a band with Jamie Borden and Tommy Paris called PHOENIX and they both feel that now is a great time to finally get this music out there and to re-issue one of the greatest American indie hard rock releases of all time JILLSON (with 3 killer bonus tracks!!). So stay tuned everybody and wait til you see and hear what Retrospect will have in store for you on JULY 4TH!! Keep rockin! Aaron www.retrospectrecords.com The Retrospect Revolution -- JULY 4TH
  7. amongst other things - there will be some discounts on certain releases!!
  8. Just wanted to give all you Journey, Nightranger, Hugo, Valentine, and quality 80's AOR fans a heads up to an AWESOME band from New York that we signed recently. Check out their video -- we will be releasing 2 discs worth of their top notch 80's AOR on JULY 4th (along with MANY others). Formerly known as Crystal Pistol, but due to confusion with the more recent Canadian band of the same name, we will now be releasing the material under the name "Crystal Project". I can't speak highly enough about this incredible band -- just wait til you hear more tracks -- dare i say this will be one of Retrospect's top 5 releases of all time. Would love to get some feedback from folks here on the song i posted. thanks alot and rock on!! Aaron Retrospect Records JULY 4TH -- a massive Retrospect Revolution is coming......
  9. hi harmonizers - i am doing a video interview with MPG's Steve Carey tomorrow and was wondering if you might have any questions you'd like me to ask him in the interview. Post them here and i should have the video posted on various sites within a week or 2. thanks alot! Aaron Retrospect Records
  10. Anyone here going to the killer Little America reunion show in Las Vegas , Feb 26 at the Fortune Club casino. The fun starts at 8 and this is the first time these AORsters have played together in 22 years!! Sam and I will both be there to watch this historic event. Anyone else? Rockin it Retrospect style, Aaron www.retrospectrecords.com
  11. just to add to (and correct) some of Sam's post: Its not James Neal but his replacement Mark Weitz that is featured on several tracks on one of the Americade releases. Mark also sang with Malmsteen and is VERY reminiscent of Jeff Scott Soto. Sam also forgot to mention ORPHANN "Up For Adoption" -- classic melodic rock with pomp and AOR overtones from 1977 is due out shortly. Also THUNDERBOX will be out at the same time. This is superb pomp rock / AOR that features David Mikael of MPG and DAVID. New releases (on my end) for the new year will include: ILLUSTRATOR -- III: Effect Of The Boomerang -- featuring 15 fantastic songs from the final and unreleased album from this superb Christian Westcoast AOR band. Some of these songs are surprisingly heavier than whats on their previous albums. CRYSTAL PROJECT -- also known as CRYSTAL PISTOL but changed their name due to confusion with the Canadian band. This will be a 2 CD set of all their material recorded in the late 80's / early 90's. This New York based band are simply unreal. One of the best AOR releases on Retrospect to date. Wait til you hear this one!! KABLAMACHUNK -- this strangely named band from New York just gave me all their material to release as a double-disc set. Recorded in the late 80's / early 90's. Produced in part by Blue Oyster Cult's Albert Bouchard -- this band mixes elements of AOR, melodic rock, prog rock and powerpop with superb results. TRACER FOX -- Yes, its been in the works for a while now but the drummer keeps finding more and more material!! We'll probably end up with 2 Tracer Fox releases - one being produced by John and Dino Elefante -- but this IS secular music, not Christian. Most of these songs have never seen the light of day (including the Elefante produced material). Killer 80's classic metal / melodic hard rock! Other releases I am working my ass off to get out early 2011 include: GENOCIDE (early 80's metal) HENDRICKSON (solo project from Genocide's lead singer/lead guitarist) 18 NAMES "Armed and Ready" (featuring Karla Goldman -- with bonus tracks and live DVD) SURRENDER -- all 3 releases to be reissued "No Boundaries", "Ship With No Sails" , "Full Circle" ONE EIGHTY "Turning Point" -- Christian California AOR band PARAGON -- featuring ALL the material recorded by this killer California based AOR / melodic rock band. plus all the releases that revered New York guitarist ROY COSTON was a part of throughout the 80's and 90's including: BANDIT, FLM, ARDENT, DC STRUT, LOVEBONE I am probably missing a few but that should keep you going! LOL! your comments are appreciated! ROCK ON! Aaron and don't forget to check out all my vinyl LP records and cd's i am selling on EBAY!! EBAY
  12. oh and i forgot to mention the band with the strangest name on our roster: KABLAMACHUNK New York based band from the late 80's / early 90's. With some unreleased tracks produced by Albert Bouchard. Coincidentally, the drummer from this band went on to work with Albert's BRAIN SURGEONS project. ROCK ON! Aaron
  13. yep, should be in out next batch of releases in JULY, which will include: MPG (with bonus tracks) THUNDERBOX (featuring David Mikael of MPG) FORTNOX (with bonus tracks) IRONCLAD (post PYRAMID band) AMERICADE (3 releases total - most of which has never been released before -- KILLER stuff!!) TRACER FOX CRYSTAL PISTOL TOBY MYERS (solo album from Roadmaster's bass player -- featuring members of Roadmaster and John Mellencamp's band) GENOCIDE (Gary Hendrickson's first band) HENDRICKSON (Gary's solo project) DZ STANZ (2 on 1 re-issue) also a sneak peek into new signings and new releases in the works for 2010: BACKSEAT SALLY (with bonus tracks) SAILON (featuring Rick Sailon who played for many years with Laura Branigan) IAN MCCORKLE (former drummer/songwriter for Canadian band LYNX, with some tracks produced by Lindsay Buckingham, and featuring members of SAGA) PARAGON TOPAZ (an additional CD to the one we just released with approximately 30 unreleased songs!!) plus many more still to come....stay tuned!!
  14. Any word on the TRACER FOX CD?????? YES! I forgot to mention that one too. Yes the audio is all done , just waiting on the artwork to be finished up and this will be pressed!! What a killer release this one will be!! thanks!! Aaron
  15. Is this the current sleazy Crystal Pistol from Canada, which has been supposed to release a new album for quite a long time now? Thanks for the update Aaron! This is the melodic hard rock / AOR band Crystal Pistol from New York / Connecticut from the early 90's.
  16. HEY! well we have a multitude of releases getting pressed right now and should be available within 2 weeks. Silver Shadow - Self Titled -- Super rare mid 80's picture-disc only EP from this female fronted California AOR band finally gets a CD release!! Killer stuff!! Keith Gorden - "A Place In Time" -- WESTCOAST AOR fans are gonna love this one! Keith Gorden is a Peter Cetera-like singer and this CD features members of Stan Bush's band and 3 songs written, produced and performed in part by VINCE DiCOLA!! A few of these songs were written for the ROCKY IV soundtrack and just didn't make the cut. SUPERB material!! Ruff Justice - "No Justice No Peace" -- Reissue of this melodic hard rock gem from the mid-90's. Awesome Dallas,TX based band!! Topaz - "World Of Secrets" - Reissue of another mega melodic rock / AOR gem from 1990 that went super rare in recent years!! FINALLY: Roadmaster - One For The Road: Live DVD. A superb professionally shot live concert from this legendary AOR/pomp rock band's reunion in 1994. Superb audio and camera work. ALSO IN COMING WEEKS EXPECT TO SEE: MPG - Self titled (with unreleased bonus tracks) AMERICADE -- awesome legendary melodic hard rock band have given us 3 albums worth of material to release!! AND LOTS MORE including Bandit, Lovebone, Ardent, DC Strut, Orphann, The Heritage, FLM, Thunderbox, Groundstar, Nowhere Dreamer, Crystal Pistol, Ian McCorkle, Hendrickson, Genocide, Nemesis, Sailon, and 18 Names. Thanks everyone! Aaron
  17. hey peeps, I have some new releases (and a few old ones) that sometimes i feel a bit "close" to and need a good balanced and comprehensive review from an outside source. Most of the releases in question are melodic rock/aor and Westcoast lighter AOR styles. So as long as you have a passion and a pretty extensive knowledge of this kind of music and feel that you could write a fair review of these releases, (and you have some time on your hands!) with good band comparisons, then please get in touch with me and i will send you a bunch of free CD's to review!! PM me. If all goes well , you can join us on the Retrospect team -- with lots of perks! thanks for your time and rock on! Aaron Retrospect Records p.s. examples of the type of reviews i am looking for would be at like GloryDazeMusic.com or Strutterzine...
  18. I order my copy of the Mata Hari 2 CD set and looking fporward to it.....great job releasing this one Sam. Looking forward to the killer Megaton Blond and Masqurade cd's. Any word or update on the release of the highly anticipated Leather Toyz, Nemisis and Tracer Fox CD's?????? Hey Game! Thanks for ordering the Mata Hari double CD - would love to get your opinion on how it turned out. I worked my butt off on the audio to try and get it to sound as best as possible (considering the sources i had to work from). Nemesis -- i am just waiting for the master tapes. Tracer Fox -- Artwork is in progress and working on mastering the audio now as well as getting a hold of some bonus tracks to add!! Thanks for your interest! Aaron www.retrospectrecords.com
  19. Hey melodic rock fans!! For all of you in the Ohio area, i just wanted to plug a very special reunion concert happening in Springfield Ohio coming up November 27th. Aaron check it out here: SCRAM reunion
  20. hi Swazi, in answer to this - there were some issues with a few members of the band that could not be resolved so we won't be releasing Rathskeller at this time. Hopefully, one day we can because its a killer album!! But for now, it stays a high priced collectors record...
  21. hey here is a new name for this schmuck EBAY USER ID: charlottj681 here was his email to me a week after the auction ended: Hello....I am afraid that I have to request more time to pay for the 4 cd's...my paypal account was hacked and several unauthorized transactions were made by someone, which has resulted in my paypal account being placed on "hold" status until they can complete an investigation....I spoke to them on the phone yesterday, and they told me that usage should be restored by August 1 through 3rd.....please let me know if you are able to wait until this time frame for payment,or if you wish to relist....if you decide to relist, I would appreciate if you would file a mutual agreement to not complete the transaction,as it would get you your fees back, and not compromise my ebay account by receiving a strike for something I could not help....please advise/confirm...thanks how many times have you guys heard this one??
  22. well, its a bit early but i am shooting for 8 weeks max. Thanks! Final question. What about the Mata Hari comp? When will be out? 8 weeks tops -- probably closer to 4 weeks.

  24. hi, yes its true, we will be releasing that Ruff Justice CD. thanks! Aaron
  25. Retro-Cross? sounds interesting. What else will be on this? Well, i know the Holy Right CD will be on RetroCross (80's Christian metal band) and i am currently on the lookout for more 80's or 80's style Christian AOR / rock / metal to re-issue. There are certainly plenty of gems from the 80's that are in need of a CD issue!! Peace! Aaron
