  1. New song 'Something In The Water'. From Frontiers: Long-running Swedish melodic hard rockers House Of Shakira have announced the upcoming release of their new studio album "XIT" on April 21, 2023. This new album follows the band's last studio album (and ninth overall), “Radiocarbon” in 2019 and the 25th Anniversary reissue of the band's debut album "Lint" in March 2022. "XIT" once again showcases why House Of Shakira have been one of the most consistently unique bands in the melodic hard rock genre over the course of their multi-decade career. House Of Shakira is known for having a distinct sound that stands out amongst other bands in the genre. They create melodic rock of the highest quality by mixing hard rock with several other musical styles. The vocals soar, the melodies rise, and the guitars bring it all back together. All these components make listening to the band's music a sensational experience. Because of the diversity of the music, House Of Shakira does not fall under your typical hard rock banner and in a world of musical clones, this is indeed a breath of fresh air. House Of Shakira are one of the most consistent and enjoyable melodic hard rock bands out there, as proved through their body of work over the decades. Originally called The Station, House Of Shakira is a Swedish melodic hard rock band originally formed in Stockholm in 1991. After deciding to change their name at the behest of a Swedish record label, "The Record Station", who thought the band's name was too close to their own, their new moniker came about in an interesting way. A German magazine that had reviewed their demo and noticed the band had no name ran a contest to have their readers pick the band's name. Geoff Noddings, a reader from England, entered the contest and suggested the name "House Of Shakira". In 1991, newspapers in England had written about a boutique store in London called "The House of Shakira." Using the sale of clothes in the boutique as a cover, the store actually offered and sold a very different commodity, as it was in fact a bordello. The band loved the name and thought then, and still today, that the name is a nice metaphor for something that is not what it seems to be. That certainly fits in with their music not being what one would normally expect of 'melodic rock'. Tracklisting:1. Something In The Water2. No Silver Lining3. Toxic Train4. Your Exit5. 2. New song 'Don't Turn Me Away'. From Frontiers: Iconic duo Janet Gardner and Justin James return with their brand new album, entitled No Strings, which will be available through Pavement Entertainment. No Strings is the follow-up to the duo's 2020 album, Synergy. In the two years since the release of Synergy, Gardner and James went to work crafting their most exciting and memorable release to date. No Strings grabs the listener from the thumping anthemic opener “I’m Livin’ Free.” From the bluesy ballad “No Strings” to the rowdy closer “Drink,” No Strings has something for everyone!Gardner says, “Justin and my work flow has become so effortless that the creative process never gets bogged down in the technical aspects until it comes time to mix and master. Justin’s determination to bring this album to the next level, sonically, has had the biggest impact on this release.”James says, “I’m so proud of what Janet and I have created with No Strings. From the first chord recorded to the last note sung, No Strings is a piece of who we are.” Known for being the lead vocalist of the legendary female rock band Vixen, Janet Gardner’s powerful vocals propelled Vixen to the top of the Billboard charts with crossover hits “Edge of a Broken Heart” and “Cryin'.” Justin James has worked as a guitarist/songwriter/producer with members of Staind, Collective Soul, and Tyketto. 5. New album 'Never Surrender' out May 19th through Pride & Joy Music.
  6. New lyric video for 'The Love Goes On'. From Frontiers: The Michael Thompson Band is back with a brand new album, “The Love Goes On”. A new MTB album is, of course, always cause for celebration among AOR fans, but "The Love Goes On" is a particularly exciting entry as it sees the return of original vocalist Moon Calhoun (The Strand, Moon Over Paris, Western Front ft. Scott Gorham of Thin Lizzy) to the fold. Calhoun sang on the band's legendary debut album, "How Long", which is generally regarded as one of the all-time great West Coast AOR albums. Calhoun, Thompson, and bassist Tom Croucier (ex-Life By Night, and yes, brother of Ratt's Juan Croucier) wrote all the songs on the album, delivering another high quality serving of classic AOR that the Michael Thompson Band has come to be known for. Drummer Annas Aliaf rounds out the line-up. Amongst musician circles, Michael Thompson is considered one of the leading guitar players in the world. He was awarded the "Distinguished Alumni" award from his alma mater Berklee College of Music to commemorate his contributions to the music industry. Berklee's program for the event noted that "he is widely regarded as being among the elite studio session players, and his amazing list of credits includes such prominent names as Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, 'N Sync, Toni Braxton, Phil Collins, Rod Stewart, the Scorpions, Vince Neil, Christina Aguilera, Michael Bolton, Mariah Carey, Bette Midler, Madonna, Babyface, En Vogue, Gloria Estefan, Stanley Clarke and Ricky Martin.Originally from New York, Michael moved to Los Angeles in 1979 to begin a studio musician career. In 1988, after working to try and get a deal with his band Slang, he finally got signed by Geffen Records to release one album entitled "How Long", under the Michael Thompson Band (M.T.B.) monicker. On "How Long", more great studio musicians appeared as guests, in particular drummer-maestro Terry Bozzio, singer Moon Calhoun (ex The Strand), Pat Torpey (Mr Big), bassist Jimmy Haslip, John Elefante (Kansas), Toto's Bobby Kimball, and Great White associates Michael Lardie and Wyn Davis (who also produced the album). Songwriters would include, among others, AOR luminaries such as Jeff Paris, Mark Spiro, Billy Trudel and Brett Walker. As of today, “How Long” is still regarded as one of the highest examples of hi-tech AOR / West Coast, with superb production and immaculate songwriting. Frontiers Music Srl began their relationship with Thompson in 2007, when they reissued the classic album "How Long". Subsequently, the label would go on to release new music from MTB in the form of "Future Past" (2012), "Love & Beyond" (2019), and the live release "High Times - Live In Italy" (2020). Pure AOR can’t get much better than this! Tracklisting:1. The Love Goes On2. Whispers And Dreams3. War Of The Hearts4. In Your Arms5. All Of It6. Just What It Takes7. Forever June8. Higher9. 7. Reissue with 6 bonus tracks out April 14th through Pride & Joy Music. From the label: In 1989, a promoter located in Milwaukee, WI reached out to five unconnected regional gunslinger musician/vocalists with the concept of creating an exceptional AOR/ROCK band with a format that few bands could emulate. After meeting each other, “Jukebox Heroes” took the stage “literally” five weeks later to an oversold house at Starz on 100 in Milwaukee with a waiting line out the door. The tour began, and soon “JBH” was in demand throughout the Midwestern US. The schedule had the group sharing the stage with the likes of 38 Special, Starship, Georgia Satellites, Styx, Robert Palmer, Kansas, REO, The Guess Who, Survivor, The Turtles, Marshall Tucker Band and ELO, some on multiple occasions. The group headlined a stage at Summerfest, the largest music festival in the US located in Milwaukee, on multiple occasions drawing thousands of fans. Jukebox Heroes, the self titled CD, was released in 1992. The remastered version was done by Justin Perkins at “Mystery Room Mastering”. Six bonus tracks are on the CD version, three by “Floppy Disc” and three by “Knee Deep” are two of Kalista’s previous projects. “In Each Others Eyes” features Kalista along with “Keedy” (Arista Records). 9. New album coming June 9 through Target Records. Press release: A strong debut demands a strong follow-up. The pop/rock sextet BOYS FROM HEAVEN are now ready with their sophomore album, “The Descendant”. The group, though still faithful to the 80’s AOR universe, has found greater inspiration in a more atmospheric sound, where dreamy pads, punchy synthesizers and drum machines are blended with the band’s organic and authentic sound. All musical elements have been meticulously crafted in this incredibly detailed production, which is mixed and mastered by Erik Martensson (Eclipse, Ammunition, etc.). On “The Descendant”, Boys From Heaven present the sonic equivalent of cruising back to the future, straight to the arcade hall, on to the drive-in cinema, and back home to mend a broken heart. “With this release, we have made an album that doesn’t just draw its inspiration from the 80’s, but also takes the listener through an array of emotions analogous with this period of music”, keyboardist Mads Noye offers. “The album takes you on a trip from the classic Kenny-Loggins-workout-montage heard on the track “Saling On”; to the sobbing-by-a-rainy-windowsill, 80’s pop banger “Sarah”; and everything in between. Above all, the songs on the album take you on an emotional rollercoaster – and that’s what we are best at!”. For “The Descendant”, the Danish boys decided to approach the recording in a different way, opting for a more intimate setting. “We know from experience that the tracking process is the longest when crafting an album, and also the most important. Because of this, we didn’t want to book an expensive studio and feel pressed for time and money”, lead singer Chris Catton explains. “We wished to record as much of the album ourselves as possible, so we had time to polish all the details that are part of writing a great, coherent record. Therefore we chose to record the album in my studio in Copenhagen, giving us the opportunity to care for even the smallest details of the album. This, of course, means very little if you don’t have the right producer who can take the recordings and bring the songs to the next level. That’s why we teamed up with Erik Martensson of Eclipse who, it must be said, certainly lives up to his reputation with this impressive production”, he concludes. “The Descendant” will be released on LP (180gr black vinyl, limited to 300), CD and digital formats via Target Records on June 9th, 2023. ”The Descendant” tracklist: 1. Sailing On 2. Make It Right 3. Sarah 4. Endless Love 5. Last Time 6. Circles 7. The Dream Is Gone 8. Too Far Gone Lineup: Mads Noyé – keyboards Mads Schaumann – guitar, vocals Søren Viig Mathiesen – drums Chris Catton – lead vocals Jonas Klintström Larsen – saxophone Morten Bille – bass
  10. From therockpit.net: Stonetrip’s debut self-titled EP was released via Golden Robot Records back in 2021 and showcased the bands impressive range. Straight up rock n’ roll bangers like opening track ‘Sideways’, ‘Runaway’ and ‘Wild Hearted’ came to be live favourites for their sheer energy and power. ‘Nightmare’ went deep, showing a more serious side, while ‘My Angel’ delivered a classic acoustic-driven power ballad, complete with a soaring, heartfelt guitar solo. The EP was just the beginning… Today, Stonetrip have released their debut full-length album titled Run Free, an exciting mix of old and new tracks. The band worked with Australian producer and engineer Ricki Rae of Lighthill Sound Recording Studio to polish their new songs into a brilliant shine that will set the benchmark for Oz Rock in 2023! Following an overwhelming response to their debut live appearance in 2019, Stonetrip have established a dedicated local fanbase and a reputation for their high-octane, energetic live performances. Despite the difficult year that was 2020, these guys didn’t let this affect their quest to unleash their unique brand of rock ’n’ roll to the world. Now, with their recent releases, the band have raised the stakes, finally showing rock lovers around the world what they’re made of. TRACKLIST 1. Dark Night 2. Sideways 3. Nightmare 4. Scare Me 5. 11. Kimmo passed away in August last year and here's a tribute to him. A word from Tuomas Heikkinen (Leverage): "It has now been half a year since Kimmo passed away. Losing a close friend you have known for a quarter of a century is hard. The last time I met him, a few days before he left us, he expressed a wish regarding ’Silence'. He said this song, besides its obvious theme, had a personal meaning to him in fighting what eventually took him away from us. He asked me to see that we’d release the song as a separate ’single’ if possible, as his will or testament regarding Leverage. Rest in peace, Kimmo. Silence is a song about war experiences haunting one for the rest of his days. It has to do with what I saw, heard and felt as a boy growing up in a time when a lot of veterans of WW2 were still alive. Hearing how many of them were drawn back to the battlefield in their sleep, never able to escape the horrors they had faced. Wondering how some of the next generation could ever blame them for what they had done to the soldiers of ’our friendly neighbour country’ while defending our own. It really wasn’t until the 90’s and on that the veterans started to get the attention and respect they had always deserved. I wrote ’Silence' in December 2020, that time of the year always reminding us here in Finland of the Winter War 1939-1940. It was the last piece of music I wrote for what became ’Above the Beyond’. May the heroes rest in peace." - Tuomas Heikkinen, Leverage

  17. New lyric video for 'You'll Never Be Alone'. Oh no, ADV again... Sweet & Lynch, the musical union of vocalist/guitarist Michael Sweet (Stryper, Iconic) and guitarist George Lynch (Lynch Mob, The End Machine, ex-Dokken), have announced the long-awaited release of their third album, "Heart & Sacrifice". The combination of Sweet’s powerful, high-octane vocals and Lynch’s immediately recognizable guitar heroics once again prove to be an unbeatable combination sure to please the hard rock faithful. Sweet & Lynch first emerged with their debut album, "Only To Rise" in 2015. The album cracked the Billboard Top 200 and came in at #6 on the Top Hard Rock Albums, #17 on Independent Albums, #18 on Top Rock Albums, and #4 on Christian Albums charts. Their sophomore album "Unified" followed in 2017, landing at #53 Top Current Albums, #13 Top Current Rock Albums, and #8 Record Label Independent Current Albums on the Billboard charts. While plans for a third album were always on the table, the project went on a slight hiatus while the guys concentrated on their other musical endeavors. 2022 proved to be the year where the creative juices for Sweet & Lynch began to flow again and work on what would ultimately become "Heart & Sacrifice" began. Alessandro Del Vecchio, who co-produced this release with Michael Sweet, plays bass on the album, while Jelly Cardarelli (Lalu) plays drums. Michael Sweet helms the Grammy-nominated Christian hard-rock outfit Stryper, which he co-founded more than 35 years ago, as the band's vocalist, guitarist, and main songwriter. To date, the band has more than 10 million career album sales worldwide. The venerable band ascended to prominence in the 1980s with Billboard Top 40 charting singles like “Calling on You,” “Honestly” and “Always There for You" and has in more recent years enjoyed an unparalleled career renaissance, delivering arguably the best albums of their storied career, including their 2022 album, "The Final Battle". Michael has released multiple solo albums, including a self-titled release in 1994, which yielded five No. 1 singles, "Truth" in 2000, the critically acclaimed 2015 project "I’m Not Your Suicide" (peaked at No. 10 on Billboard’s Hard Rock albums), and 2019’s "Ten", which reached No. 4 on Billboard’s Top Christian Albums chart. He recently partnered with Joel Hoekstra (Whitesnake), Nathan James (Inglorious), Marco Mendoza (Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake), and Tommy Aldridge (Whitesnake, ex-Ozzy Osbourne) in the supergroup Iconic, which was greeted with much adoration by rock fans around the globe. George Lynch emerged from the '80s hard rock scene with the L.A. based group Dokken and went on to become a world renowned guitarist. Aside from Dokken, he also enjoyed great success with Lynch Mob, the group he founded after leaving Dokken. Lynch has gone on to become a prolific (that is an understatement, to say the least) music creator, continuing with Lynch Mob, releasing solo albums, and a wealth of collaborative efforts over the decades. Those include, but are not limited to, KXM with dug Pinnick (King's X) and Ray Luzier (Korn), The End Machine with Jeff Pilson (Foreigner, ex-Dokken), Mick Brown (ex-Dokken), and Robert Mason (Warrant), Sweet & Lynch with Michael Sweet (Stryper), Ultraphonix with Corey Glover (Living Colour), Dirty Shirley with Dino Jelusick (Animal Drive, Trans-Siberian Orchestra), The Banishment with Joe Haze, and many more.
