  6. From Frontiers Records newsletter: --New powerhouse trio-- featuring legendary vocalist-bassist Glenn Hughes, drummer extraordinaire Jason Bonham and 23-year-old newcomer guitarist-singer-songwriter Andrew Watt. Are set to release their first self-titled debut album in may available on cd and cd/dvd deluxe edition on Frontiers Records Think of California and you think of brilliant color and bright sunlight. Think of a breed and it's all about bloodlines and brotherhood. Put the two together as CALIFORNIA BREED, and you have the most exciting new band of 2014, built around the foundation of legendary vocalist-bassist Glenn Hughes, drummer extraordinaire Jason Bonham and 23-year-old newcomer guitarist-singer-songwriter Andrew Watt. Mixing massive riffs, gutsy vocals and gale force rhythms, this powerful three-piece band will release their self-titled debut album May 16th in Europe and May 20th in North America on Frontiers Records. It was produced by Dave Cobb (Jamey Johnson, Rival Sons, Shooter Jennings and more). Look out for future announcements on the band at www.californiabreed.com. CALIFORNIA BREED (album cover art pasted below) was recorded at Cobb’s Nashville studio and features equal co-writing credits among the three-man lineup. “It’s proper rock,” Hughes told ClassicRockMagazine.com (2/6), “but at the same time it’s very now. Andrew is as influenced by Mick Ronson as he is Jimmy Page.” “This kid is amazing,” says Bonham. “The first time we met I thought he looked like the white Jimi Hendrix. And he plays in the studio likes he’s onstage!” Glenn Hughes, 'The Voice Of Rock', is a true original, a legendary icon whose credits include Deep Purple and guesting with everyone from Black Sabbath to Earth, Wind & Fire — up to his most recent collaboration in rock supergroup Black Country Communion. No other rock musician has carved such a distinctive style blending the finest elements of hard rock, soul and funk. That astonishing voice is Hughes' calling card. The legacy of Led Zeppelin lives on in Jason Bonham, British drummer and son of Zep's legendary John Bonham. He has inherited the best of his father's skills while mastering his own distinctive and dynamic technique. Jason has followed his own distinctive path over the years, fronting his own successful outfits like Bonham, and playing with Led Zeppelin, Foreigner, Heart and, most recently, movie composer Hans Zimmer. Andrew Watt is a soulful singer/songwriter & multi-instrumentalist whose high-energy aggressive style & creative spirit are synonymous with New York City. Hughes says: “I live in the moment, it’s all about NOW, California Breed is exactly where I live, breathe and where my freak flag flies.” Here’s the track listing for CALIFORNIA BREED’s self-titled debut album: 1. The Way 2. Sweet Tea 3. Chemical Rain 4. Midnight Oil 5. All Falls Down 6. The Grey 7. Days They Come 8. Spit You Out 9. Strong 10. Invisible 11. Scars 12. Breathe 13. 7. From FB: Thundermother started the summer 2010 in Växjö when the guitarist and southern swede Filippa Nässil wanted to play Rock'N'Roll. So with dreams and visions along with the song "Shoot to Kill" humming in her head she started Thundermother. She moved to Stockholm to pursue her dream. She found her first partner in crime Giorgia Carteri in Stockholm who also followed her own dreams of playing music, coming all the way from Italy, though nowadays she's identified as one of the southern stockholm fellas. After numerous ordeals with other musicians they have finally found the right group of people with right motives and Rock'N'Roll in their heart. Tilda Stenqvist on drums from Karlstad, Linda Ström from the Smålander woods and Clare Cunningham born and raised on Ireland, nowadays living in Dublin. They're having fun and it's noticeable on-stage. Pure enjoyment and Rock'N'Roll deep from their bones. Hardrock-girls from around the world now united to do one sole thing, to play together and travel on the roads. Thundermother has been playing the Close-Up boat with Turbonegro and Candlemass, they were the opening act for Danko Jones on his Swedish Tour, they were the openers for Metaltown on the Blood Stage in the presence of thousands of people before Clutch and Graveyard, they had played with bands like Bonafide, The Scams & many many others. Thundermother did it themselves the hard way. Without a record they filled pubs and clubs to the brim and will play at Sweden Rock Festival this summer. Now they have signed with WARNER. Album out april 2.

  13. From SoundCloud: Shaft of Steel are one of the brightest new hopes in melodic metal. With a refreshingly unique sound that combines power metal, progressive rock and 1980s AOR, this multinational act (based jointly in London and Duisburg) are surely set for big things. 'The Steel' formed in the tuna fish-loving town of Scarborough, North Yorkshire in 2004, where the original line-up of ex-Acrimonious Anguish main man Alex Markham (guitar), Robert Fenning (vocals and guitar), Andy Cooper (bass) and Will Keen (drums) met while studying at The University of Hull. Over the course of three glorious years, with a number of line-up changes involving Will moving on to pastures new, the acquisition of former Mantra drummer Garth Vickers and the addition of Chris Hartnell on rhythm guitar, the band gained wide acclaim for their anthemic songs and memorable live performances. The band was put on hold in 2007 when Alex rejoined Acrimonious Anguish, but after a four-year hiatus, the trio of Alex, Rob and Andy reformed in early 2011 and went back into the studio to re-record and remix their old material. These sessions proved so fruitful that they decided to reform the band on a permanent basis and enlist some additional members, old and new. Garth made a welcome return to the drum stool and Adam Carruthers (ex-Acrimonious Anguish) and Chris Smurthwaite (ex-Sole Survivor) were drafted in on second guitar and keyboard respectively. 2014 looks set to be a milestone year for the band, with big plans in the air and an ambition that won't rest until the world knows the name Shaft of Steel!
